Shockingly, 40 \u200bpercent of these \u200cjob losses\u2063 would affect workers in the hospitality industry, while 62 percent of the \u2063predicted lost jobs are held by women.<\/p>\n<p>This \u200dproposal comes at a time \u2062when restaurants and \u2064bars are struggling to recover from pandemic-related closures and soaring food costs. The closure of tens of thousands of eateries \u200bacross \u2063the country has already been witnessed. Many restaurant\u2062 owners argue that eliminating the tip credit would only exacerbate the chaos. In\u2064 fact, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-poll-majority-of-americans-less-likely-to-support-disney-over-woke-politics-firing-of-gina-carano\/\" title=\"EXCLUSIVE POLL: Majority Of Americans Less Likely To Support Disney Over Woke Politics, Firing Of Gina Carano\">recent survey conducted<\/a> by\u200b the \u2063Employment Policies Institute found that 85 percent\u2062 of Washington, D.C., restaurant owners believe this\u200b policy would force\u200c them to \u200blay off workers.<\/p>\n<p>Sanders, however, wants the entire United States \u2064to follow the lead of D.C. mayor Muriel Bowser, who recently unveiled a $17 minimum wage. But for Rebekah Paxton, the research director at the Employment Policies Institute, such a move\u200b would be \u200bdisastrous for local businesses.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This bill is a recycled version of\u200b Sanders&#8217;s \u2062ill-conceived\u200b $15 wage\u200b proposal, which was shot down by a bipartisan group of senators in 2021,&#8221; Paxton stated. &#8220;Nobody should support this proposal that only\u200c stands to hurt\u200c businesses \u200dand their employees.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Sanders&#8217;s\u2062 office \u200chas not \u2064responded to questions regarding the potential job losses \u2063resulting from this \u2062proposal. However, Sanders has previously warned his fellow senators of &#8220;political\u2064 consequences&#8221; if\u2063 they do\u200d not\u2062 support\u200d a minimum wage\u2063 increase. It\u2064 is worth noting that \u200din 2021, eight Senate Democrats opposed Sanders&#8217;s bill to raise \u2063the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, California recently revived a commission that allows the state to set wage hikes in certain \u200bindustries.
