&#8216;pro-lynching&#8217;.&#8221;>controversial music video<\/a> in recent memory continues to cause a stir \u2014 although this time, it\u2019s not abundantly clear who or\u200c what is \u200cthe source of this latest issue.<\/p>\n<p>For \u2063the unaware, country \u200cmusic star \u200dJason\u2064 Aldean has \u200bbecome \u2062a lightning rod for criticism and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/cmt-caves-mob-pulls-jason-aldeans-newest-music-video-rotation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cancellation<\/a> after his music video\u2062 \u201cTry That in a Small Town\u201d began picking up some steam.<\/p>\n<p>Critics <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/leftists-enraged-country-star-jason-aldean-torches-blue-cities-new-music-video-try-small-town\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blasted<\/a> the song as some racist, right-wing fever dream, despite the song\u2019s lyrics never once mentioning race or politics.<\/p>\n<p>Ironically,\u200c after\u200d CMT pulled the \u200bsong from its\u2064 airwaves,\u2063 the Streisand Effect took full hold as \u201cTry That in\u2062 a Small Town\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/jason-aldeans-try-small-town-hits-1-chart-cmt-caved-woke-mob\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">skyrocketed<\/a> up\u200d charts, bringing swathes of new eyeballs (some of which belong\u2063 to fans,\u2064 others which belong \u200dto critics) to his polarizing \u2062music\u2064 video.<\/p>\n<h3>A Subtle Change\u200c Sparks Attention<\/h3>\n<p>Given the microscope the video was and is under, it\u2019s little\u2062 surprise that viewers noticed a recent, subtle change to the music video.<\/p>\n<p>In short, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2023\/07\/26\/jason-aldean-remove-black-lives-matter-protest-try-that-in-a-small-town-music-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TMZ<\/a> reports, imagery featuring Black Lives Matter riots was\u2062 stricken from the video.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/jason-aldeans-try-that-in-a-small-town-video-quietly-edited-to-remove-certain-segments\/\" title=\"Jason Aldean's 'Try That in a Small Town' Video Gets Sneaky Edits\">celebrity gossip site posted<\/a> a helpful video\u200c demonstrating the slight, but noticeable, difference \u2063between the original\u200b music video\u2064 and the BLM-less \u2064version.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>As evidenced above, various parts of the music video that featured Black Lives Matter \u2063imagery was replaced with more stock\u200c footage of Aldean simply singing\u200b the song.<\/p>\n<p>As TMZ notes \u2064\u201cfootage of violence at a BLM rally, projected on a Tennessee courthouse where a Black teenager was\u200b lynched in 1927\u201d was removed.<\/p>\n<p>While the changes only \u2063amount to about six seconds of altered footage,\u2064 it\u2019s noticeable nonetheless given the microscope this song is under.<\/p>\n<p>The Speculation \u2064Surrounding the Change<\/p>\n<p>As to why \u200bor how\u200b this change was made, there\u2019s nothing\u2063 but speculation.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s possible that Aldean finally acquiesced a bit to his critics, who specifically had issues with\u200b the BLM\u200b imagery and the courthouse (due to its\u2064 historic significance.)<\/p>\n<p>Many critics specifically cited that imagery, while others decreed the whole\u2063 video as \u2063\u201cwhite nationalist\u201d propaganda:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">I hate tweeting the link \u2063but better criticism\u200d (as well as\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/jason-aldeans-wife-message-fans-husbands-anti-woke-music-video-gets-canceled\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">his \u200dwife\u2019s<\/a>), it does seem out-of-character for Aldean to willingly\u2062 change the video.<\/p>\n<p>One possibility bandied\u2064 by TMZ is that the deleted footage could have been copyrighted.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2063outlet reached out to \u2063WAGA-TV, which is \u200bwhere the footage in question \u2064came\u200b from, to\u2062 see if the news\u2064 station asked Aldean \u200dto
