Noreika threatened to place sanctions on the lawyers.<\/p>\n<p>Noreika said the staffer falsely claimed to work for the lawyers employed by Republican representative \u200bJason Smith (Mo.), who chairs the House Ways and Means Committee. Smith had submitted an amicus filing in the case,\u2063 which was \u2062removed from \u200dthe \u2064docket\u200c after a staffer for Biden&#8217;s lawyers called the court.<\/p>\n<p>Biden&#8217;s team said\u200c the issue &#8220;appears to stem from an \u2064unfortunate and unintentional miscommunication \u200cbetween a staff member\u200d at \u2063our firm and employees of the Court,&#8221; \u2064CNN <a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2023\/07\/25\/politics\/hunter-biden-house-republicans-amicus-brief\/index.html?utm_source=ground.news&#038;utm_medium=referral\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The judge said the staffer called to have \u200bthe item removed,\u200b claiming\u2063 to work\u2064 for the Republican \u2063representative.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;It\u200c appears that the caller misrepresented her identity and who she worked for in an attempt to improperly convince the \u2063Clerk\u2019s Office to remove \u200dthe amicus materials from the docket,&#8221; the judge said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Jessica\u2063 Bengels, a staffer for the Biden\u200d law firm, said she called the court but denied pretending to work for Smith&#8217;s lawyer Ted Kittila.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am completely confident \u2062that I never indicated that I was\u2063 calling from Mr. Kittila\u2019s firm or that I worked with him in \u2064any \u200cway,&#8221; Bengels said in an affidavit to the judge.<\/p>\n<h3>Biden&#8217;s Plea Deal and Impeachment\u2062 Inquiry<\/h3>\n<p>Biden is\u200d expected to plead \u2064guilty to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/presidents-son-gets-sweetheart-deal-from-feds-on-gun-tax-charges\/\" title=\"President\u2019s Son Gets Sweetheart Deal From Feds on Gun, Tax Charges\">misdemeanor tax crimes<\/a> on Wednesday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nonbinary-biden-administration-official-ordered-to-undergo-mental-health-evaluation-after-avoiding-jail-time\/\" title=\"\u2018Nonbinary\u2019 Biden Administration Official Ordered to Undergo Mental Health Evaluation After Avoiding Jail Time\">avoiding jail time<\/a>, though\u200d Noreika could reject the\u2062 deal he reached\u200b with the Justice Department.<\/p>\n<p>House\u200b Speaker Kevin\u2063 McCarthy (R., \u200bCalif.) <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/latest-news\/watch-mccarthy-says-biden-corruption-will-lead-to-impeachment-inquiry\/\">said<\/a> this week that the investigations into the Biden family&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-biden-plea-comer-to-praise-irs-whistleblowers-in-oversight-hearing-while-raskin-targets-trump\/\" title=\"Hunter Biden plea: Comer lauds IRS whistleblowers, Raskin takes aim at Trump in Oversight hearing.\">foreign business \u2062dealings<\/a> are &#8220;rising\u2063 to the level of impeachment\u200d inquiry.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A judge accused Hunter Biden&#8217;s legal team of falsely posing as a Republican lawyer&#8217;s staffer to remove a filing from the public docket.
