This comes at a time when major \u2063U.S. corporations are reportedly\u200d laying\u200c off DEI-focused senior officers \u200cand thousands of employees.<\/p>\n<p>In \u2064the wake\u2062 of George Floyd\u2019s death in 2020, American companies faced\u2064 immense pressure to address social justice and racial diversity in the\u2062 workplace. Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock, a\u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dei-jobs-are-drying-up-but-colleges-keep-pushing-diversity-studies\/\" title=\"DEI job opportunities decline, yet colleges persist in promoting diversity studies.\">trillion-dollar asset management\u2062 firm<\/a>,\u200b has used BlackRock&#8217;s financial power to coerce other companies \u2063into\u200d adopting\u200b the\u2063 &#8220;environmental, social, and governance&#8221; (ESG) \u2062agenda.\u200d BlackRock proudly stated in its 2020 annual reports \u2063that it had voted\u2063 against management over\u200c 1,500 \u2064times for\u2063 &#8220;insufficient diversity&#8221; in\u200d company\u200d management.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;In 2018, \u2063less than half the companies \u200bin\u200b the S&#038;P 500 employed\u200d someone in\u2062 the role, and by 2022, three out of four\u2064 companies\u200c had created a position.&#8221; &#8211; The Wall Street Journal<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Responding to external \u2063demands and the desire to virtue signal,\u200d American companies quickly hired DEI professionals\u200d and added Chief Diversity Officers (CDOs) to\u2062 their \u2062leadership teams. The Society for\u2062 Human \u2064Resource Management reported that \u200cDEI roles \u200bin the workplace increased by 55 percent following Floyd&#8217;s death. However, in recent months, Big Tech \u200dcompanies like Amazon and Twitter have led \u200bthe way in laying off diversity professionals, followed by\u2063 other\u200d well-known corporations. The \u200cnumber of CDO searches has decreased\u200c by\u2063 75% in the past year.<\/p>\n<h2>Factors in DEI\u200d Downsizing<\/h2>\n<p>The \u200ddownsizing of\u200b DEI professionals can\u200c be \u2063attributed\u200c to several factors. Some companies hastily filled DEI roles\u200b without \u2064considering qualifications, leading \u200cto <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-to-invest-1m-to-address-teacher-shortage\/\" title=\"White House to invest M to address teacher shortage\">high turnover rates<\/a>. Additionally,\u2062 DEI initiatives have proven divisive and controversial, \u2064often alienating employees and reinforcing stereotypes. As\u200d businesses\u2063 face declining revenues\u2063 and profits, they have targeted DEI-focused employees for cost-cutting measures.<\/p>\n<h2>Credentialing Increases<\/h2>\n<p>While corporations\u200c are \u2064cutting back on DEI employment, colleges\u2064 and universities \u2064are\u200d experiencing a &#8220;credentialing \u2064explosion&#8221;\u200b in \u200cDEI programs. Several colleges across the country now offer DEI degree programs or minors. Bentley University is the first \u2063to offer Bachelor\u2062 of \u2063Arts \u2062and Bachelor of Science programs in DEI. However, students \u200dpursuing these programs may face\u2062 difficulty finding\u200d well-paying DEI employment opportunities upon graduation.<\/p>\n<p>Colleges and\u200d universities often offer degrees\u2063 that do not align with market \u200cneeds, and the DEI program may \u2064join the list of \u2063overpriced, useless degrees.
