Reed \u200bwas charged with\u2063 violence \u2062committed\u2063 against Russian police officers after a night of\u200b drinking in \u200cMoscow. According to The Messenger, Reed allegedly grabbed an officer driving a police vehicle, \u200dcausing the officer to swerve dangerously.<\/p>\n<p>Russian\u2063 authorities sentenced Reed \u2062to nine years in prison despite his denying the allegations.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Ambassador to Russia John Sullivan called the\u200b trial \u201cso preposterous that they provoked laughter in \u2063the courtroom.
