In fact,\u2064 for two more\u2063 years, Fauci demanded universal masking and \u2062<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/emails-show-fauci-knew-from-a-2020-federalist-article-that-masking-was-ineffective-but-demanded-it-anyway\/\" title=\"Fauci Knew Masks Were Ineffective, But Still Demanded Them\">encouraged \u2064mandates requiring face coverings<\/a> despite their uselessness.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-893820584\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-6d2164d206c7a25f3a62b75583d02923 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-6d2164d206c7a25f3a62b75583d02923\"><\/div>\n<p>The Federalist article in question was <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/10\/12\/cdc-study-finds-overwhelming-majority-of-people-getting-coronavirus-wore-masks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">published<\/a> on On Oct. 12,\u200d 2020, under the headline \u201cCDC Study Finds Overwhelming Majority Of People Getting Coronavirus \u200cWore Masks.\u201d The \u200bstory featured the CDC \u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/volumes\/69\/wr\/pdfs\/mm6936a5-H.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">study<\/a>, which was conducted in \u200cJuly 2020 but not \u2064released until that September, that\u00a0compared 154 \u201ccase-patients\u201d who tested positive for Covid-19 to 160 \u201ccontrol participants\u201d who were \u200dsymptomatic but ultimately\u2064 tested negative \u200cfor the virus.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers tried \u2062to use the data to convince the public that \u201cExposures and activities\u200b where mask use and social distancing are difficult to maintain, including going to places that offer \u200don-site eating or drinking, might be important risk factors for acquiring \u2062COVID-19.\u201d Yet a majority of\u200c case\u2063 patients (71 percent) and control participants (74 percent) \u201creported always using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/no-spike-in-florida-coronavirus-cases-despite-no-mask-mandate\/\" title=\"No Spike in Florida Coronavirus Cases Despite No Mask Mandate\">cloth face coverings<\/a> \u200dor other mask types when in\u200d public\u201d\u200c in the weeks leading up to their illness.<\/p>\n<p>The CDC was\u2063 forced \u200bto concede that, despite its best efforts to blame the spread of the virus on those who maintained public participation with little-to-no masking, \u200b\u201cdirection, ventilation, and intensity of airflow \u2064might \u2062affect virus \u200btransmission, even if social\u200b distancing measures\u2064 and mask use are implemented according to current\u200c guidance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The same day\u2063 The Federalist\u200d published the article outlining the damning evidence against masks, Fauci\u2019s Chief of Staff Greg Folkers emailed the\u200c story\u2019s text to the \u2063NIAID director. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1ac925b11fc23b449182d0b14555ff01 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1ac925b11fc23b449182d0b14555ff01\"><\/div>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cNot good for our paper,\u201d Fauci admitted in his reply,\u200c which looped\u2064 in NIAID staffer Andrea Lerner.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><\/figure>\n<p>During this time, Fauci and his NIAID team couldn\u2019t get their story straight on masking \u2014 telling\u200b the \u200dpublic masking was \u2064essential \u2063but acknowledging in\u2063 private\u2064 that the science didn\u2019t support their narrative. For instance, \u200ddays before\u2063 he was sent The Federalist article, Fauci publicly declared that the data \u200don masks <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/dr-fauci-on-masks-super-spreader-covid-event-interview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cspeak for themselves.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe \u2063had a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dems-lost-all-credibility-on-social-distancing-after-biden-celebrations\/\" title=\"Dems Lost All Credibility On Social Distancing After Biden Celebrations\">super-spreader event<\/a> \u2064in the White House and it\u200b was in a situation\u200b where \u2062people were crowded together and were not wearing masks. So the data speak for themselves,\u201d he told\u200b CBS.<\/p>\n<p>Yet on Oct. 12, even before Fauci\u2019s staff flagged The Federalist story, Lerner warned her colleagues\u2064 that the research data they\u200c wanted\u2063 to include in their paper about\u00a0masks \u201cprotecting individuals in the\u200b community\u201d was actually \u201cweak.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-17fb31967fc9fe3f3acb58544b65ee17 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-17fb31967fc9fe3f3acb58544b65ee17\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cIn\u200c addition, most of the studies in the review involved medical masks\u2013not the cloth masks that are currently recommended (and\u200c CDC advises the public to avoid surgical masks and \u2062N95s intended for healthcare workers),\u201d Lerner wrote. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Paper  Trail<\/h2>\n<p>Around the same time\u2064 the Federalist article was published, Fauci, Folkers, and Lerner were \u2062busy \u2062working <a href=\"https:\/\/jamanetwork.com\/journals\/jama\/fullarticle\/2772459\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">on their aforementioned \u201cviewpoint\u201d\u2063 paper<\/a> that claimed the nation\u2019s \u201creturn to normalcy\u201d was contingent upon the \u201cwidespread acceptance and adoption of mask\u200c wearing and other\u2063 inexpensive and effective \u2063interventions as part of\u200c the COVID-19 prevention toolbox.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Emails reveal the paper was solicited \u2064by Howard Bauchner, the\u2064 then-editor-in-chief of the\u200d <em>Journal of the American\u200d Medical Association<\/em> and its\u200b network. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cA request has come in to have \u2018Dr. Fauci write \u200ca\u2062 VP\u200c about the importance of masking\u2019 \u2014\u200d for the record. Obviously aware\u2064 of the tug \u200cand war ongoing. Your call. The twist could be that masking will be important even after vaccination begins,\u201d Bauchner wrote \u2063in\u2063 an \u200bOct. \u200c1, 2020 \u2062email to Fauci.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><\/figure>\n<p>When The Federalist article came across his desk, Fauci acknowledged the\u2063 CDC\u2019s findings ran\u200b counter \u200dto his mask push.\u2064 Yet exactly \u2062two weeks after \u2062admitting \u200dthe data threatened his preferred narrative, <em>JAMA<\/em> \u2064published Fauci\u2019s article titled, \u201cPreventing the\u200c Spread of SARS-CoV-2 \u2063With Masks and Other \u2018Low-tech\u2019 Interventions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fauci would have had plenty of \u200dtime to update the paper with the latest masking findings since <em>JAMA<\/em> did not send him his page proof \u200buntil Oct. 21. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><\/figure>\n<p>Instead of\u2064 acknowledging the critical\u2062 information undermining his previously held \u200cmasking narrative,\u200c however, Fauci doubled down. <\/p>\n<p>In the published paper, he insisted that \u201cto safely reopen businesses, schools, and other facets of \u200csociety, \u200cmask use in the community to prevent\u2063 the spread\u200c of SARS-CoV-2, in conjunction with other low-cost, low-tech, commonsense public health practices,\u200d is and \u200dwill remain critical.\u201d To bolster\u200b his point, Fauci touted now-<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/02\/21\/opinion\/do-mask-mandates-work.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">debunked data<\/a> to suggest that mask mandates \u201chave \u2062been associated with a decline in the daily growth rate of COVID-19 cases in the US.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the pandemic, Dr. Fauci was the face of the United States\u2019 medical \u200cand scientific \u200dstruggle against COVID-19. So it should be extremely concerning to\u2064 the American public that he\u00a0cherry-picked research\u200b on the\u200d efficacy of \u2064masks in preventing the spread \u200cof the\u200d virus,\u201d Peter McGinnis, spokesman for FGI, said in a statement.\u2063 \u201cHe clearly\u00a0knew about the \u200cCDC study showing masks didn\u2019t work as we were told, but he\u200d chose neither to\u00a0address nor even mention\u200c it and instead pushed forward his paper saying \u2062the exact\u200c opposite. At\u00a0best, this is poor scientific ethics. If Dr.\u200d Fauci was so quick to \u200bignore science so \u2063early in\u2062 the pandemic, why should the American public trust\u2064 anything else he said or\u2064 did over the last few\u00a0 years?\u201d <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">To Mask or to Double Mask<\/h2>\n<p>Even before the CDC study,\u2064 Fauci privately <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/06\/02\/emails-show-fauci-knew-masks-werent-very-effective-before-pushing-universal-masking\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">admitted<\/a> at\u2063 the beginning of the Covid pandemic that masking was \u2062not the effective solution he later claimed it would \u200bbe. Fauci\u2019s February 2020 emails obtained in \u200d2021 by <a href=\"https:\/\/assets.documentcloud.org\/documents\/20793561\/leopold-nih-foia-anthony-fauci-emails.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Buzzfeed News<\/a> and The <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210602132041\/https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/interactive\/2021\/tony-fauci-emails\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Washington Post<\/a> \u200b showed\u200d the director confidently stating that wearing a mask did not stop the \u200bspread of the new virus. He publicly repeated the sentiment that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=PRa6t_e7dgI&#038;embeds_referring_euri=https%3A%2F%2Fthefederalist.com%2F&#038;source_ve_path=MjM4NTE&#038;feature=emb_title\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cthere\u2019s no reason to be \u2064walking around with \u200ca mask\u201d<\/a> in a \u2063\u201c60 Minutes\u201d interview in March 2020.<\/p>\n<p>As the corporate media and Covid\u2063 regime\u2019s panic ramped up, however, Fauci changed his tune and began pushing for widespread masking \u200cunder the guise of \u2064protecting\u200d against accidental asymptomatic transmission \u2014 a phenomenon that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themainewire.com\/2020\/12\/myth-widespread-asymptomatic-transmission\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">studies<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/5850256\/who-asymptomatic-spread\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">World Health Organization\u2019s<\/a> technical lead admitted is \u201cvery\u2063 rare.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>When Howard Zucker, the commissioner of the New York State Department of Health appointed by disgraced former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, asked Fauci in July 2020 for \u201cinformation backing the\u200d efficacy of masks at prevention acquisition and spread \u2064of SARS-CoV-2,\u201d Fauci obliged with a list of several studies\u200c that called for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC8607819\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cUniversal Masking,\u201d<\/a> emails reviewed by The Federalist showed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou are doing \u2064a terrific job in New York,\u201d Fauci \u2063wrote.\u200b \u201cHang in there.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><\/figure>\n<p>By January 2021, Fauci declared one mask wasn\u2019t enough and encouraged \u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/01\/25\/dr-fauci-double-mask-during-covid-makes-common-sense-more-effective.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201ccommon sense\u201d <\/a>measures like \u2064wearing two face coverings at once. At least one \u200dscientist emailed him to \u200dexplain that\u200b double masking caused an\u200d increase in \u201cunavoidable\u2064 leakage \u200bbetween the mask and the face [that] carries\u200b significant air flow with no filtration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am very concerned that general public\u2064 may (1) begin to use 2-3 masks and become \u2064more\u200b vulnerable or (2) not use mask at all since breathing \u2063through 2 masks is much harder and uncomfortable,\u201d the scientist \u2062wrote.<\/p>\n<p>It does not appear Fauci replied. Days after that email, the CDC announced\u2063 it would investigate whether double masking was effective. Folkers forwarded Fauci a <a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/world\/live-news\/coronavirus-pandemic-vaccine-updates-01-29-21\/h_79eef159ad8503a3f5b5ceaf33b41f34\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CNN article<\/a> highlighting that\u2062 decision.  <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-ec9776a6b9ff1faacd384fcb5bce9e6c fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-ec9776a6b9ff1faacd384fcb5bce9e6c\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">    \t\t\t\t\t   \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Anthony Fauci, was aware since October 2020 that masks were ineffective against Covid-19 transmission.
