The complaint was filed on \u2064Monday.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>On June\u2064 5, the \u200dsecond to last \u200cday of\u2063 the\u2062 school year, all \u2062orchestra \u2064students \u2064at \u2063Northstar Middle School were\u200d gathered in the \u200borchestra room. Present were orchestra teacher Jacob Puccio, a \u2062school counselor, and the district&#8217;s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) director, \u200cDang \u2063Yang.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>During\u200c this gathering, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/utah-school-allows-parents-to-opt-out-of-black-history-month-curriculum-reverses-course\/\" title=\"Utah School Allows Parents To Opt Out Of Black History Month Curriculum, Reverses Course\">middle school students<\/a>\u200b were informed that Puccio, their \u2062orchestra teacher, \u2062would \u2063be \u200cundergoing a gender transition from male to female,\u2064 according to the lawsuit. Additionally, music students at three elementary schools and one high school \u2063in the district were allegedly read a scripted statement about the teacher&#8217;s gender transition.<\/p>\n<p>Buchman, who has children in both the \u200bmiddle school orchestra and the high school band, initially requested a copy of the scripted\u2064 statement but was \u200ddenied. The school district claimed that an ongoing investigation into potential misconduct surrounding the June 5 announcement prevented them from releasing\u2063 the document.<\/p>\n<p>As \u2064a result, Buchman, along with the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty\u200d (WILL), filed a \u200blawsuit against the district. \u200cThey are seeking access to\u2062 the statement under Wisconsin&#8217;s open records law.<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1690368573946000&#038;usg=AOvVaw0SC9MF9lhNsKkAePnLU71p\">CLICK HERE \u200bTO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;All I am asking is \u200dfor the school district to \u200bprovide what was \u2062told to \u200cmy children and their peers \u2062in the classroom. As a parent, it&#8217;s\u200b my responsibility\u200c to help my kids understand all that life\u2064 throws their way, and I do not understand why \u2062it \u200dhas taken the school district so long to \u200bupdate parents,&#8221; Buchman stated.<\/p>\n<p>WILL attorney Cory Brewer expressed frustration with \u2062the district&#8217;s refusal to release the statement,\u2063 saying, &#8220;It&#8217;s\u200b ridiculous for \u200ba school district to refuse to produce a statement that was read out loud to\u200d dozens \u2062of minor students in \u200cseveral district classrooms.
