Version: 4.0.47--><h2>IRS Ends a \u200bHated Decades-Old Practice &#8216;Effective Immediately&#8217;<\/h2>\n<p>Even broken\u2064 government agencies can be right twice a day \u2014 or something to that effect.<\/p>\n<p>For as much\u2064 general disdain and\u2063 vitriol \u2063as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/desantis-reveals-eliminate-3-cabinet-departments-plus-irs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Internal \u200bRevenue Service<\/a> \u200dengenders \u200c(and deservedly so), this latest announcement from\u2063 the agency is actually noteworthy for being a\u200b move that \u2062most \u200dAmericans would\u200c unequivocally agree with.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday,\u200b the IRS \u200dput\u200c out a \u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/newsroom\/irs-ends-unannounced-revenue-officer-visits-to-taxpayers-major-change-to-end-confusion-enhance-safety-as-part-of-larger-agency-transformation-efforts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news release<\/a> stating that\u200d it would be \u2062ending one of its more loathsome practices: Unannounced revenue officer visits.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Now, right off the bat, \u2062the IRS makes it clear that unnannounced revenue officer visits <em>can <\/em>still happen, as they are only ending\u2064 \u201cmost unannounced visits.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cAs part of a larger transformation effort, the Internal Revenue Service today announced a major policy change\u200b that\u2062 will end most unannounced visits to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/joe-biden-approves-chinese-ev-battery-factory-michigan-taxpayers-hook-national-security-risk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">taxpayers<\/a> by agency revenue \u200dofficers to\u200d reduce public\u2064 confusion \u2062and enhance overall safety measures for taxpayers and employees,\u201d the release begins.<\/p>\n<p>Hilariously, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/irs-quietly-changes-rule-impact-childrens-inheritance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IRS<\/a> actually \u200ctried to pass off these unannounced visits as some altruistic service to the taxpayer\u200c (\u201cto help,\u201d \u200dthey say) \u2014 and not \u200bthe invasive breach of privacy it \u2064actually is.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe change reverses a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/top-taxpayers-fleeing-nyc-in-droves-amid-soaring-crime-tax-rates-study-finds\/\" title=\"Top Taxpayers Fleeing NYC In Droves Amid Soaring Crime, Tax Rates, Study Finds\">decades-long practice<\/a> by IRS revenue\u2062 officers, \u200dthe unarmed agency <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/knew-going-look-horrible-hollywood-employees-admit-todays-films-look-terrible\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">employees<\/a> whose <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/irs-ends-a-hated-decades-old-practice-effective-immediately\/\" title=\"IRS Stops Longstanding Practice 'Effective Now'\">duties include visiting households<\/a>\u200c and businesses to help taxpayers\u2062 resolve\u2064 their account\u200d balances by collecting unpaid taxes and unfiled \u200ctax returns,\u201d the IRS stated.<\/p>\n<p>Ah yes, because nothing is quite \u2064as helpful as \u201ccollecting\u201d from people, totally unannounced.<\/p>\n<p>As for when this new policy takes effect, by the time you read this, it already has. The IRS noted that these changes would\u200d take place \u200c\u201c[e]ffective immediately.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/security-footage-shows-fbi-agents-showing-house-pro-life-activists-mother-unannounced\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unannounced<\/a> visits will end, it appears\u2064 that\u200c the IRS will \u2062be\u2062 shuffling announced visits into \u200bplace.<\/p>\n<p>Per the IRS, unannounced visits \u201cwill be replaced\u200c with mailed letters to schedule meetings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So \u2062the IRS will still\u200d get \u2064its pound\u200c of\u2062 flesh from\u200d you \u2014 but\u200d it\u2019ll at least\u2064 be \u2064planned <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/golf-star-jon-rahm-issues-warning-climate-protesters-ahead-british-open-dont-catch-bad-hole\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ahead of time<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are taking a fresh look\u200c at\u2063 how the IRS operates to better serve taxpayers and the nation, \u2064and \u2064making this\u2064 change is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/president-biden-pushes-ban-on-assault-weapons-high-capacity-magazines-following-colorado-mass-shooting\/\" title=\"President Biden Pushes Ban On \u2018Assault Weapons,\u2019 \u2018High Capacity Magazines\u2019 Following Colorado Mass Shooting\">common-sense step<\/a>,\u201d said IRS Commissioner Danny \u2063Werfel. \u201cChanging this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-senate-should-not-target-filibuster-to-pass-h-r-1\/\" title=\"White House: Senate should not target filibuster to pass H.R.1\">long-standing procedure<\/a> will \u2063increase confidence \u2063in\u200c our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/accomplice-of-woman-behind-irs-targeting-the-tea-party-selected-to-run-new-irs-centralized-office-for-87000-agents\/\" title=\"Accomplice of Woman Behind IRS Targeting the Tea Party Selected to Run New IRS Centralized Office for 87,000 Agents\">tax administration work<\/a> and improve overall safety\u200b for\u2062 taxpayers and IRS employees.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNTEU \u200cwelcomes the IRS <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/scotus-expected-follow-race-based-admissions-decision-new-case-huge-issue-high-schools\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">decision to halt<\/a> unannounced visits by IRS Field Collection employees,\u201d \u2064said\u200b Tony Reardon,\u200d National President of the National Treasury Employees Union.\u2062 \u201cThe safety of IRS employees is of paramount importance and this decision will \u200chelp protect those whose jobs have only grown more dangerous in recent \u2064years because of\u2064 false, inflammatory \u2064rhetoric about the agency\u200c and its \u2064workforce.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Okay, that last line \u2064from Reardon can\u2019t fly without a retort.<\/p>\n<p>There \u200dis nothing \u200bfalse or inflammatory by\u200c pointing out that the IRS had become a weaponized branch\u2063 of the government \u2014 \u2063particularly\u2062 under\u2062 the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/obama-admin-used-irs-target-political-enemies-trumps-using-get-relief-americans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Obama administration<\/a> \u2014 no matter\u2063 how much \u2063the agency protests \u200cabout it.<\/p>\n<p>More so, you don\u2019t even have to \u2062go back\u200d to the \u200dObama days to pinpoint the \u200bIRS\u2019s numerous \u2063issues.<\/p>\n<p>Just this month, the IRS <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/irs-quietly-changes-rule-impact-childrens-inheritance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">quietly changed \u200drules<\/a> to make it far more difficult \u200cto pass things \u2062off to \u200cyour children. \u2062Who does \u2062that benefit?<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\" class=\"one-half\">\n<div class=\"firefly-poll-question\">Have you ever been visited by the \u200dIRS?<\/div>\n<div id=\"pollFormBox\" style=\"display: none\">\n<ul>\n<li><label><input type=\"radio\" name=\"answer\" value=\"yes\">Yes<\/label><\/li>\n<li><label><input type=\"radio\" name=\"answer\" value=\"no\">No<\/label><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"firefly-poll-disclaimer\">\n<p>\t\tCompleting this poll \u200dentitles you to\u200c The Western Journal news \u2063updates free of charge. Disdain against the IRS isn\u2019t because of \u201cfalse, inflammatory rhetoric\u201d \u2014 it\u2019s because\u2063 of what the \u200dagency has literally \u2063done.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also worth noting that in every instance of lauding this decision,\u200b whether it\u2019s Reardon, Werfel or the IRS itself, matters of safety were mentioned in lockstep.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not \u200dhard to see how a total stranger appearing unannounced on someone\u2019s doorsteps \u2063could be a \u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/nearly-every-gas-generator-america-will-fail-proposed-safety-standard-rule\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">safety hazard<\/a>, particularly \u2064in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/hunter-biden-claim-second-amendment-protects-right-gun-addicted-crack-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Second Amendment<\/a>-friendly states.<\/p>\n<p>But again, \u200cthat\u2019s\u2062 got\u2063 nothing to do with prior reputation,\u2062 as Reardon insists.\u2063 The IRS\u2062 could be the most beloved and idolized government\u200d branch in America, and \u2064its agents \u200bwould\u2064 still be at imminent\u2062 risk showing up to houses \u2064unannounced.<\/p>\n<p>So kudos to the IRS.<\/p>\n<p>They made\u2062 a right decision, even if it was for completely fabricated \u200dand made-up reasons.<\/p>\n<p>The post <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/irs-ends-hated-decades-old-practice-effective-immediately\/\">IRS\u2064 Ends a Hated \u200cDecades-Old Practice &#8216;Effective\u2062 Immediately&#8217;<\/a> appeared first on <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\">The Western Journal<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Internal Revenue Service surprisingly made an announcement that most Americans would support, despite their usual negative reputation.
