Immigration has been a problem for\u2064 President\u2062 Joe Biden since day one, with record numbers of illegal border \u2063crossings set in both of his first\u200d two years in office and one that will take center stage again this week.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>GOP Senators Work to Block Biden&#8217;s Plans \u2014 \u200bLiterally<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;Texas is stepping up to address this \u200dcrisis,&#8221; Gov. Greg\u2064 Abbott (R-TX) tweeted \u200blast Friday. &#8220;We will continue to deploy every strategy to protect \u200bTexans and Americans \u2014 and the \u2064migrants\u2062 risking their\u200b lives. \u2063We will see you\u200d in \u2063court, Mr. President.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Abbott was \u200bgiven until 2 p.m.\u2063 Monday to remove a 1,000-foot floating barrier \u200din the Rio Grande, which separates the United States and Mexico, by the Department of Justice. The agency promised to file legal action after the deadline.<\/p>\n<p>The DOJ claims the barrier violates federal law and also raises humanitarian concerns, according to a letter it sent to Texas on Friday. Abbott not only refused the order to but quickly outlined his disagreements, calling the border situation \u200ca &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/warner-bros-cancels-the-batman-release-in-russia-over-ukraine-invasion\/\" title=\"Warner Bros. Cancels 'The Batman' Release in Russia over Ukraine Invasion\">tragic humanitarian crisis<\/a>&#8221; that was \u200d&#8221;created because of Biden&#8217;s refusal to secure the border.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre in turn called\u2064 Abbott&#8217;s moves a &#8220;political stunt&#8221; that was both inhumane and atrocious.<\/p>\n<p>But that&#8217;s just one front of the Biden administration&#8217;s pending immigration battles.<\/p>\n<p>The other is that Homeland \u200cSecurity Secretary Alejandro \u200bMayorkas will testify before\u2062 the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday as some in \u200cthe GOP\u200d openly discuss impeachment.<\/p>\n<p>Mayorkas has defended himself by claiming that Republicans are making &#8220;false accusations.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have a very good understanding of who I \u2064am and what I am trying \u2064to do for\u200c our country in leading 260,000 people in the Department\u200d of Homeland Security. False \u2062accusations do not dent that one bit,&#8221; \u200dhe\u2064 said in an interview published on \u200dFriday.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green (R-TN) announced the launch of an investigation into Mayorkas\u2019s &#8220;dereliction of duty.&#8221; Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) has said he&#8217;s &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/tom-wopat-reveals-why-dukes-of-hazzard-was-a-blessing\/\" title=\"Tom Wopat Reveals Why \u201cDukes of Hazzard\u201d Was \u201cA Blessing\u201d\">pretty darn close<\/a>&#8221; to \u200dhaving enough House votes \u200bfor impeachment. But the House hearing is\u200d sure to create some headlines no matter what.<\/p>\n<p>A\u2063 few other developments showcase the wide\u200b reach of the southern border issue. \u2064New York City Mayor Eric Adams is sending\u200c out flyers to warn immigrants against relocating to his city, while\u200b in\u200d Mexico City, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador is encouraging Hispanics to vote against Gov.\u2062 Ron DeSantis (R-FL) in 2024 over his immigration policies.<\/p>\n<p>Polling indicates that immigration policy is a weakness for Biden. His approval rating on the issue is 34.6%, with 59.2% disapproving,\u2064 per the RealClearPolitics average.<\/p>\n<p>The federal government is likely in the right\u2064 legally in the border\u200d dispute with Texas, according to NumbersUSA CEO James Massa, though he argues that Abbott&#8217;s moves make for good politics.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Legally, the Constitution and federal law is very clear that it is the responsibility of the president and Congress\u2063 to\u2063 protect the nation, including securing the borders,&#8221; Massa said. &#8220;However, with over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/political-battles-return-immigration-to-center-stage-for-biden-administration\/\" title=\"Immigration takes center stage in Biden administration's political battles.\">2 million illegal immigrants \u200bpouring<\/a> into the United States\u2063 every year, clearly that is\u200c not being done at the federal level.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The White House was asked Monday\u2062 what it will do to remove the river border\u2063 other than filing lawsuits, and while Jean-Pierre largely dodged the question, she accused Abbott of operating in\u200b bad\u200b faith.<\/p>\n<p>Abbott claims he has not only the legal but the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-jr-tells-gop-to-get-tough-if-democrats-are-playing-hardball-then-we-got-to-play-hardball\/\" title=\"Trump Jr. Tells GOP To Get Tough: If Democrats Are \u2018Playing Hardball\u2019 Then \u2018We Got To Play Hardball\u2019\">moral high ground<\/a> as well,\u2063 saying\u200b that illegal immigration\u2062 is dangerous for the immigrants themselves and that millions of doses of illegal drugs come across the border in \u200bthe process.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/p>\n<p>But the White House says Abbott&#8217;s own actions are dangerous.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;President Biden\u2019s \u2064border enforcement plan has led to the lowest \u200blevels \u2064of unlawful border crossings in over two years,&#8221; White House spokesman Abdullah Hasan\u2063 said. &#8220;Gov. \u200dAbbott\u2019s dangerous and unlawful actions are undermining that effective plan, making it hard for the men and women of\u200c Border Patrol to do their jobs of \u200csecuring the border and \u200dputting migrants and border agents in danger.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Immigration remains a contentious issue for the White House, resurfacing in the headlines.
