Tents can be seen lining\u200d the sidewalk for several blocks at a time.<\/p>\n<p>The recently cleared area is located near Old Station Sub shop, owned by Joe Faillace, one of the business and \u200dproperty owners involved in the lawsuit against\u200c the \u200dcity regarding &#8220;The Zone.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Plaintiffs Allege \u2062Violence and Property Damage<\/h3>\n<p>The 15 plaintiffs in \u2064the lawsuit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azcentral.com\/story\/news\/local\/phoenix\/2023\/07\/07\/phoenix-trial-the-zone-homeless-encampment-next-week\/70385447007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claim<\/a> that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/lapd-declare-unlawful-assembly-at-echo-lake-park-city-moves-to-clear-out-homeless-encampments\/\" title=\"LAPD declare unlawful assembly at Echo Lake Park, city moves to clear out homeless encampments\">homeless individuals<\/a> residing in &#8220;The\u200b Zone&#8221; have caused violence and property damage, significantly impacting the plaintiffs&#8217; livelihoods and quality of life. They report finding used needles and human feces on their properties, as well as \u2063witnessing drug use and public sex acts\u200c by homeless individuals.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u2064 the lawsuit, the city has even transported homeless people\u200d to &#8220;The Zone&#8221; and failed to enforce the law in that area.<\/p>\n<h3>Legal Action and Ongoing Cleanup Efforts<\/h3>\n<p>In March, a Maricopa County judge\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goldwaterinstitute.org\/victory-arizona-judge-declares-phoenixs-homeless-zone-an-illegal-public-nuisance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">issued<\/a> \u200b a preliminary injunction declaring &#8220;The Zone&#8221; a public nuisance and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goldwaterinstitute.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/The-Zone-ruling-preliminary-injunction.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ordering<\/a> the city to clear it by July 10.<\/p>\n<p>The trial for the lawsuit took \u200cplace earlier this\u2063 month, but a final \u200druling on the timeline for clearing &#8220;The Zone&#8221; has not yet been issued.<\/p>\n<p>The city began the process of clearing the encampment on May 10, and the \u2062recent cleanup <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azcentral.com\/story\/news\/local\/phoenix\/2023\/07\/19\/phoenix-clears-block-of-the-zone-homeless-camp-amid-record-heat-wave\/70422946007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">marks<\/a> the fifth block to be cleared.<\/p>\n<p>Last week&#8217;s cleanup occurred during a record-breaking \u2062heat wave in Phoenix, with temperatures exceeding 100 degrees. Homeless residents were seen battling the heat, pouring water on themselves, and receiving water bottles from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gavin-newsom-apologizes-for-using-gangs-to-describe-rail-thieves\/\" title=\"Gavin Newsom Apologizes for Using 'Gangs' to Describe Rail Thieves\">cleanup crew<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/phoenix-works-to-clear-lawsuit-ridden-homeless-zone\/\" title=\"Phoenix tackles lawsuit-ridden homeless 'zone'.\">extreme temperatures prompted homeless individuals<\/a>, especially older residents, to seek shelter and take \u200badvantage of the air conditioning provided at a nearby community center dedicated to assisting the homeless.<\/p>\n<p>City officials have outlined a plan to complete the clearance of &#8220;The\u200d Zone&#8221; over the next nine months.
