Gov. Newsom announces B plan to reopen schools by spring\">school districts<\/a><\/a> that\u200d implement parental notification policies. These policies\u2064 require school officials to inform parents when their child displays a change in gender identity. Murphy believes that such policies force\u2063 school staff \u2062to disclose LGBTQ+ students&#8217; identities to \u2062their parents, violating\u2063 the child&#8217;s constitutional rights. Therefore, opposing parental \u200bnotification is, in Murphy&#8217;s\u2063 view,\u200c &#8220;the American way.&#8221;\n  <\/p>\n<p>    \u200c &#8220;Listen, we took these\u2064 actions because it&#8217;s the right thing to do,&#8221; \u200cMurphy stated. &#8220;Let&#8217;s protect the rights of \u2062these precious\u200c kids. Let&#8217;s do\u200d things the right way,\u2063 the American way.&#8221;\n  <\/p>\n<p>    \u200c These comments from the Democrat come as Murphy and other liberal Northeast lawmakers criticize\u2064 parents who want a say in \u200dtheir children&#8217;s education. In addition \u2064to \u200cMurphy&#8217;s lawsuits, liberal state legislators in New \u2063Hampshire \u200dhave recently made\u2062 inflammatory remarks towards <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/american-academy-of-pediatrics-now-suggesting-parental-rights-advocates-want-to-roll-back-child-abuse-protections\/\" title=\"American Academy of Pediatrics Now Suggesting Parental Rights Advocates Want to Roll Back Child Abuse Protections\">parental rights advocates<\/a>. For example, state representative Tom Hoyt \u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/let-the-teachers-teach-and-shut-up-new-hampshire-dem-lashes-out-at-voter-over-parental-rights-bill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lashed out<\/a> at a parent who urged\u200c him \u200cto pass a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-with-the-help-of-moms-for-liberty-south-carolina-pre-files-parental-rights-bill\/\" title=\"Exclusive\u2014\u00a0With the Help of Moms for Liberty, South Carolina Pre-Files Parental Rights Bill\">parental rights bill<\/a>, telling the parent \u2062to &#8220;let the teachers teach, \u2063and\u200b shut up.&#8221; Similarly, in July, Democratic state senator Catherine Sofikitis <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/new-hampshire-democrat-likens-parental-rights-group-to-taliban\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">likened<\/a> \u200ca <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dem-governor-failing-to-notify-parents-when-their-child-changes-gender-is-the-american-way\/\" title=\"Governor: Not informing parents about child's gender change is 'American way'\">leading parental rights advocacy group<\/a> to the Taliban.<br \/>\n \u200c\n  <\/p>\n<p>    The\u2064 Biden administration has also taken steps to exclude parents from the education process. In 2021, Attorney \u2064General Merrick Garland issued \u2063a memo launching investigations into\u2063 parents who &#8220;intimidate&#8221; school boards. This memo was in response to a\u200c request \u2064from the National \u2063School Boards \u200dAssociation, \u2062which\u200d referred to concerned parents as potential &#8220;domestic terrorists.&#8221;\n  <\/p>\n<p>    \u2063  \u200dMurphy&#8217;s attorney \u2063general, Matt Platkin, has also defended the administration&#8217;s fight against districts with parental\u200b notification policies. Platkin\u200c argues that these policies pose &#8220;serious mental health \u2063risks&#8221; and threaten &#8220;physical harm to\u2063 students.&#8221; Additionally, Platkin has informed New Jersey&#8217;s school districts that politically neutral bans on\u2063 flags and posters could also lead to legal action, as reported by the \u2063 <em>Washington Free Beacon<\/em> in June.\n  <\/p>\n<p>    \u2064   The Marlboro Board\u200c of Education, which was sued by\u200c the\u200d Murphy\u2062 administration in late June, has vowed\u2062 to defend \u2063its parental notification policy. According to the \u200bschool board&#8217;s attorney, &#8220;It is our position \u200bthat keeping \u2064parents \u2062in\u200c the dark\u2062 about\u200c important issues involving their children is counterintuitive \u200dand contrary\u2063 to \u2063well-established Supreme Court case law that says parents have \u200ca constitutional right to direct and control\u2064 the upbringing of their children.&#8221;\n  <\/p>\n<p>    While Murphy and\u200c other Democrats clash with parental rights advocates, test scores across the country are declining. A National Assessment\u200b of Education Progress report published in June revealed that math and reading scores among American 13-year-olds are at their lowest levels in\u2062 decades. Although the Biden administration claims that its &#8220;historic&#8221; COVID-era school spending will \u200breverse this trend, many districts <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/biden-admin-says-its-covid-spending-for-schools-will-boost-test-scores-districts-used-the-funds-for-staff-bonuses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">used those funds<\/a> to\u2062 provide \u200clucrative staff bonuses.<br \/>\n\u200b\n  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>districts over parental notification policies regarding gender identity changes. He claimed that these districts were simply adhering to &#8220;the American way&#8221; by keeping parents uninformed.
