She based her decision not to watch\u200b the movie on a review \u200bwritten \u200bby Sarah Vine \u200dfor the \u2062Daily Mail, which highlighted some of the issues with &#8220;Barbie.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8220;I trusted her words,&#8221; Owens stated.\u200d She then quoted the review, which stated, &#8220;&#8230; My main \u2063objection is \u2064that Barbie is \u2062not really a\u200c film about Barbie \u2062at all. It\u2019s one hour and 54 minutes\u200d of \u200cextended\u200b misandry, dressed up with a few fun dance routines and one or\u2064 two \u200c(granted fairly decent) jokes.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Vine added, &#8220;It\u2019s a deeply anti-man movie, an extension of\u2063 all that\u200b TikTok feminism \u2062that paints\u2063 any form \u200dof masculinity \u2014 other than the most anodyne \u2014 as toxic and predatory, and frames \u2064women\u2019s liberation not as a movement based on achieving equality between the sexes \u200cbut as a cultural \u200brevenge\u200b vehicle designed to write men out of\u200d the story altogether.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Owens found this synopsis enough to completely turn her off\u2063 from watching the movie.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8220;If the movie \u200dconveys that \u2062men are either \u200didiots, bigots, \u2063or sad losers who need\u2063 to be put in their \u200dplace by \u200bwomen\u2063 whenever they display any form of masculinity, then \u2064I&#8217;m\u2064 simply not interested,&#8221; she concluded.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mainstream media praises &#8220;Barbie&#8221; movie, but some reviewers criticize its strong feminist message.
