I\u200c lost \u2064it,\u201d Hansbrough \u200btold the Herald. \u201cI grabbed the cart. I don\u2019t actually remember going\u200d out but I did. And I \u200bgrabbed the cart that had\u200d the stolen items in (it).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It was against Lowe\u2019s\u2062 policy, but Hansbrough said she acted out of\u200c instinct.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just \u200bgot tired \u200bof seeing things get out\u2064 the \u200ddoor. I just \u2026 I lost it,\u201d \u200dshe told the Herald. \u201cI basically lost all the training. Everything they tell you to do, I \u2063just \u2026 I just lost it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For most normal people, it\u2019s an \u2063understandable reaction. Even children understand that stealing is \u200dwrong. And even \u200bchildren will try \u200bto defend what they consider to be theirs.<\/p>\n<p>But Lowe\u2019s doesn\u2019t look at\u200b things like that, apparently. Hansbrough was fired.<\/p>\n<p>(Lowe\u2019s did not respond to a request for comment from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/sixty-eight-year-old-lowes-employee-fired-attempting-stop-theft-georgia-store\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox \u2064News<\/a>. The Western Journal reached out to Lowe\u2019s early Monday afternoon as well.)<\/p>\n<h3>Public\u2062 Outrage<\/h3>\n<p>According to a news release\u200d posted on Facebook by the Rincon Police Department, the three suspects were\u2064 identified as Jarmar \u200bLawton and Joseph\u200b and\u2064 Takyah Berry (an uncle and niece team \u2062\u2014 talk about family values). Takyah Berry was identified\u200c as the suspect with the cart Hansbrough tried to stop.<\/p>\n<p>The\u2063 release did\u200d not\u2062 identify which\u200d of the three actually struck Hansbrough.<\/p>\n<p>Lawton had been taken into custody, according to the\u200d release, which \u2062did not\u200b give\u2063 details. The two members of the Berry family \u2014 what a proud brood that must be\u200c \u2014 remained at large.<\/p>\n<p>To be fair, it\u2019s easy to see \u200bwhy Lowe\u2019s has \u2064the policy, even \u200cif the company obviously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/lowes-attempts-thwart-rampant-theft-developing-high-tech-system-invisible-customers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">doesn\u2019t like stealing<\/a> any more than the rest of the honest world.<\/p>\n<p>In \u2063a litigious country, in a litigious age, \u2062a\u2062 mega-corporation stands a good chance of getting sued over any injury\u200d that \u2064takes place on its premises \u2014 whether it\u2019s\u2064 an employee who gets hurt \u200din a confrontation with a\u200b shoplifter, or a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/target-takes-extreme-measures-desperate-bid-stop-shoplifting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shoplifter<\/a> with a \u2062keen sense \u2064of entitlement \u200dand a keen, crooked lawyer.<\/p>\n<p>But to be human, \u200dit\u2019s easy to get angry and \u2062disgusted that a woman\u2062 who\u2019s so clearly in the right on the\u200c grounds of\u200b decency \u200dhas been so clearly wronged on the \u2064grounds \u2064of company policy.<\/p>\n<p>And a lot of the\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/thieving-punk-gives-68-year-old-lowes-employee-a-black-eye-then-the-store-hits-her-with-something-worse\/\" title=\"Burglar Assaults Elderly Lowe's Worker, Store Adds Insult to Injury\">social media response showed<\/a> it.\u200b Here\u2019s a sampling:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Stop shopping at <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Lowes?\">@Lowes<\/a> asap!!!!<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Richard Suazo (@RichardESuazo) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RichardESuazo\/status\/1683111614810079232?\">July 23, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-conversation=\"none\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Lowe\u2019s will not\u200c stop theft but will pass the\u2063 costs \u200bonto\u2064 paying customers.
