From 2012 to 2015, &#8220;Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse&#8221; delighted\u2064 audiences with\u2064 vignettes featuring the iconic blond doll and her friends. Their adventures revolved around shopping, poolside lounging,\u200c and pursuing various careers. \u200bWith self-awareness and \u200b<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/alec-baldwin-has-bizarre-connections-to-bad-vegan-drama-with-sarma-melngailis\/\" title=\"Alec Baldwin Has Bizarre Connections To \u2018Bad Vegan\u2019 Drama With Sarma Melngailis\">witty banter<\/a>,\u200d even\u200b fathers\u200d found themselves enjoying this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/barbie-delivers-more-lectures-than-laughs\/\" title=\"'Barbie' offers more lectures than laughs.\">quality entertainment alongside<\/a> their daughters.<\/p>\n<p>So, when news of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/shapiro-gina-carano-firing-part-of-a-movement-to-expel-half-of-america\/\" title=\"Shapiro: Gina Carano Firing Part Of A Movement To \u2018Expel\u2019 Half Of America\">live-action<\/a> &#8220;Barbie&#8221; movie broke, many of us \u2062held our\u200b breath, hoping it would follow in the footsteps \u2064of the beloved show. \u200bEarly trailers and publicity \u200bseemed to confirm our hopes, teasing a glorious peek into the life of one of history&#8217;s most famous dolls. We anticipated playful jabs at Barbie&#8217;s impossible career arc and her seemingly ageless existence, akin\u200d to Dorian Gray.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-476186566\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-fbc9b36c9230115a30de4b2d213c5a4c fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-fbc9b36c9230115a30de4b2d213c5a4c\"><\/div>\n<p>However, our hopes \u200dwere dashed. As Kyle Smith astutely observes in The Wall Street\u200d Journal, the film&#8217;s script resembles a grumpy women&#8217;s studies seminar. Armond White, writing for National Review, describes the movie as frantic, uncheerful, and \u200cgraceless, claiming that Barbie symbolizes a culture that devalues childhood and goodness. Even the Critical Drinker on YouTube, in his review titled &#8220;Barbie: \u200dThe Greatest Lie Ever Told,&#8221; expresses surprise at the film&#8217;s spiteful, bitter,\u200c and mean-spirited portrayal of men and everything associated with them.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Barbie,&#8221; starring Margot Robbie and Ryan\u2062 Gosling, embodies all these criticisms \u2062and more. Yet, it falls short of expectations. The doll\u200d herself plays\u200b a minimal role, \u200bmerely serving as\u2064 a vessel for\u2062 screenwriters Greta Gerwig\u2064 and Noah Baumbach to vent their frustrations. Sitting through the movie feels like \u200cbeing trapped in a conversation\u2064 with an angry ideologue\u2064 whose ideas lack\u2062 the\u200b insanity to be entertaining.<\/p>\n<p>While\u2064 &#8220;Life in the \u2062Dreamhouse&#8221; offered a lighthearted exploration of \u2064the Barbie universe&#8217;s contradictions, &#8220;Barbie&#8221; presents itself as a lecture disguised as\u200d a movie. It gloomily dissects a society that exists solely in\u200d the minds of Gerwig\u2062 and Baumbach. For a film that criticizes the \u200cpatriarchy, it fails to inspire Gerwig to reflect on her own success in defying its\u2064 constraints.<\/p>\n<p>Of \u200dcourse, movies don&#8217;t have to be purely entertaining, but it certainly helps. The disappointment lies in the fact that the rich source material of the Barbie universe was transformed into this film. \u200bWe could have had\u200d a delightful and humorous experience, where audiences \u200bof all ages laughed\u2063 at jokes\u2062 about Barbie&#8217;s unbending knees and fingers. We\u2064 could have embarked on a\u2064 delightful adventure inspired \u2063by a doll that has fueled imaginations for decades. In short, we could have had the movie that was promised in the \u200bmarketing campaign.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-7190a0ce3bf113a316fee571b1eec6dd fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-7190a0ce3bf113a316fee571b1eec6dd\"><\/div>\n<p>Unfortunately, that&#8217;s not what we\u2064 got. Instead, we are subjected to a series of angry \u2063talking points, where the only flights of imagination lead to a nightmarish world where women \u200bare objectified, vilified,\u2062 and subjugated in ways that would make even a caveman blush. It&#8217;s far\u200b from \u200da dream.<\/p>\n<p>Despite all this, I&#8217;m not angry about \u2063&#8221;Barbie.&#8221; However, \u2063as a father\u2064 who eagerly anticipated taking his\u2064 daughters to this movie for over a year, I am undeniably \u200cdisappointed.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-f91dcf86aa83c0c218aa2c4cf5f75b0a fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-f91dcf86aa83c0c218aa2c4cf5f75b0a\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From 2012 to 2015, &#8220;Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse&#8221; showcased the enchanting world of Barbie and her pals in Malibu.
