The money\u2064 comes from the department&#8217;s Community-Based Violence Intervention and Prevention Initiative,\u2062 which aims \u200cto address crime through\u200c police alternatives. Taller Salud, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tallersalud.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">receives funding<\/a> from liberal billionaire George Soros&#8217;s \u2064Open Society Foundations, will use the $2 million to further implement its &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/psaki-suggests-rapes-in-cities-other-crimes-are-increasing-because-of-gun-violence\/\" title=\"Psaki Suggests Rapes In Cities, Other Crimes Are Increasing Because Of \u2018Gun Violence\u2019\">community violence intervention program<\/a>,&#8221; which includes &#8220;public education campaigns&#8221; to address &#8220;structural racism and\u2062 toxic masculinities&#8221; \u2062among Puerto \u200bRican men between the ages of 15 and 30.<\/p>\n<p>This \u200dis far from the first time the Biden administration \u200bhas used taxpayer funds\u200b to push progressivism abroad. In May, \u200cthe U.S. embassy in Brazil <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/bidens-state-department-is-putting-brazilian-trans-activists-in-english-classes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> plans to bankroll English classes for transgender activists. In the Middle\u2063 East, meanwhile, Biden&#8217;s State \u200cDepartment\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/bidens-state-department-launches-multimillion-dollar-push-to-teach-gender-diversity-in-iraq\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">initiated<\/a> a multimillion-dollar effort to teach Iraqis about\u2064 gender studies. The Biden administration has also <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/want-to-inspire-changemakers-in-india-to-fight-climate-change-biden-could-fund-your-podcast\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">funded<\/a> podcasts in foreign nations intended to\u2063 push listeners to the left, including one in India focused on climate change.<\/p>\n<p>The \u200cBiden-backed program will specifically train a &#8220;minimum of 40 young males&#8221; annually \u2064on &#8220;violence interruption&#8221;\u2062 and &#8220;conflict mediation,&#8221; among other practices. The program places an emphasis on\u200b eradicating &#8220;structural racism&#8221; and street violence by hosting &#8220;cultural \u200cactivities,&#8221; including\u2064 mural painting, according to Taller Salud&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.english.tallersalud.com\/copy-of-community-and-leadership\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The nonprofit has no shortage of \u200cfiscal supporters. In addition to Soros&#8217;s Open Society Foundations, its site touts funding from Planned Parenthood and Grantmakers for\u200d Girls of Color, a group that\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/grantmakersforgirlsofcolor.org\/about-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">invests<\/a> \u2063in the &#8220;liberation&#8221; of &#8220;girls, femmes, and gender-expansive\u2062 youth of Color.&#8221; Still, the Biden administration grant will pay the nonprofit handsomely for its toxic masculinity training.\u200b Should the program reach its minimum of 120 Puerto\u200c Rican men over three years, the training would cost nearly $17,000 per person. That \u200bfigure is <a href=\"https:\/\/educationdata.org\/average-cost-of-community-college\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">four times<\/a> the average cost of a year of community college and $3,000 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.census.gov\/quickfacts\/PR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">more<\/a> than the per \u200bcapita annual income in Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n<p>The Justice Department did \u2064not return a request \u200cfor comment.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/tag\/open-society-foundations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Open Society Foundations<\/a> are a \u2064network of grant-making organizations that \u2063serves as the Soros family&#8217;s chief philanthropic arm. Over the course of his life, Soros has dumped hundreds of millions \u2064of dollars into various progressive causes, notably a nationwide push \u200cto\u200c elect <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/01\/22\/george-soros-spent-40m-getting-lefty-district-attorneys-officials-elected-all-over-the-country\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prosecutors<\/a> who often <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/04\/29\/mugged-mta-supervisor-saim-montakim-blasts-manhattan-da-alvin-bragg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fail to charge<\/a> \u200d violent \u200bcriminals, leading to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-11937951\/The-10-worst-NYC-criminals-let-woke-Manhattan-DA-Alvin-Bragg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">repeat offenses<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While Taller Salud also employs &#8220;violence\u200c interrupters&#8221; and &#8220;street outreach\u2062 workers&#8221; to achieve &#8220;crime reduction,&#8221;\u200b the use of police alternatives \u200bhas largely failed to reduce crime in the United States. Following George Floyd&#8217;s death, for instance, the Minneapolis City Council moved to defund the \u200dcity&#8217;s police \u200cdepartment. After \u200ba year of near-record crime, however, the council <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/07\/10\/how-minneapolis-residents-overturned-decision-to-defund-police\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reversed<\/a> the\u200b cuts.<\/p>\n<p>Non-police interventions have also failed to deliver the services they promise. &#8220;B-HEARD,&#8221; a mental-health-focused 911 alternative piloted in New York City, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/05\/05\/nyc-mental-illness-program-unable-to-answer-1-in-4-calls-for-help-last-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">failed to respond<\/a> \u200d to approximately three-quarters of all calls it received. A\u200d similar program in Seattle, meanwhile, is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/local\/seattle\/2023\/03\/09\/alternative-911-seattle-police-mental-health\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">behind schedule<\/a> and has yet to be implemented three years\u200b after its approval.<\/p>\n<p>As of 2020, Puerto Rico had the 18th-highest <a href=\"https:\/\/dataunodc.un.org\/dp-intentional-homicide-victims\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">homicide rate<\/a> in the world, \u200dplacing the territory above countries such as\u2063 Iraq \u2064and Haiti.<\/p>\n<p>While \u2062some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-admin-gives-soros-backed-group-millions-to-teach-young-puerto-ricans-about-toxic-masculinities\/\" title=\"Biden Admin funds Soros-backed group to educate young Puerto Ricans on 'harmful masculinity'.\">conservative policy experts argue law enforcement<\/a> is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/ideas\/archive\/2023\/03\/underfunding-police-violent-crime\/673314\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">underfunded<\/a>, Taller Salud appears to be flush with cash. The organization&#8217;s CEO, Tania Rosario M\u00e9ndez, pays herself nearly triple the median income in Puerto Rico, <a href=\"https:\/\/projects.propublica.org\/nonprofits\/organizations\/660494692\/202120709349301132\/full\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tax documents<\/a> show. The nonprofit&#8217;s CFO,\u200b Yamara\u2064 Rodr\u00edguez, earns well over double the median income. Over 40 percent of Puerto Ricans <a href=\"https:\/\/www.census.gov\/quickfacts\/PR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">live<\/a> in poverty, according to the Census Bureau.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stopthebigboxbaitandswitch.com\/?utm_source=freebeacon&#038;utm_medium=advertising&#038;utm_campaign=2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stopthebigboxbaitandswitch.com\/?utm_source=freebeacon&#038;utm_medium=advertising&#038;utm_campaign=2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>On her Instagram page, M\u00e9ndez <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/taniarosariomendez\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">describes<\/a> herself as an &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-red-wave-and-the-democratic-suicide-strategy\/\" title=\"The Red Wave, And The Democratic Suicide Strategy\">anti-racist activist<\/a> for environmental justice and \u2064gender equality.&#8221; \u200cHer organization\u2019s page, meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/tallersalud\/\">promotes<\/a> abortions and &#8220;antiracism.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Taller Salud in at least some cases has attempted to address poverty in Puerto Rico, albeit through unusual tactics.
