If they lose, they simply return to private life, free to try again.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-790925813\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-97f3655d3e61c4dc1345b41233535ab3 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-97f3655d3e61c4dc1345b41233535ab3\"><\/div>\n<p>In nations lacking rule of law and fair elections \u2014 whether autocracies such as Russia \u200cor totalitarian states like China\u2062 \u2014 the practice of politics is more akin to the sort of royal jockeying of the medieval era. Machiavelli\u2019s <em>The Prince<\/em> is a manual on how to survive in this \u2063environment. \u201cGame\u2062 of Thrones\u201d is an \u2064appropriate modern adaptation: poison,\u200c assassination, exile,\u200b disappearings, or official condemnation take the place of fair\u200b election contests.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, Russian\u200c President Vladimir Putin and China\u2019s leader Xi Jinping would both\u2063 see the effort to\u2062 use the government\u2019s \u2062prosecutorial power against Trump as a standard tool in any dictator\u2019s\u200d toolkit. As Lavrentiy \u2064Beria, Joseph Stalin\u2019s secret \u2063police commissar said,\u2062 \u201cShow me the man, and I\u2019ll show\u2064 you the crime.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But while Putin and Xi surely recognize \u200bthe form, they likely mock \u200bits sloppy and slow execution \u2014 Trump \u200cis still a free man and he\u2019s still running for president, an \u200cexistential threat to the continuance of President Joe Biden\u2019s \u2063remaining in the White House. For dictators used to \u200cremoving their would-be competitors from the chessboard, the fact that Trump is still standing is a\u200b sign of weakness.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, the growing\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/atlasshrugs\/status\/1681737637747478533?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">trail of evidence being\u200b brought to the public linking\u2062 Biden via his son Hunter to millions of dollars in foreign bribes<\/a> from China, Ukrainian oligarchs, and Romania over five years would \u200dalso be viewed as weakness. Dictators \u200cruthlessly control information. America has its own struggles with corruption and official misdeeds, but nations ruled by dictators reap\u2063 corruption on a vast scale, far \u2063exceeding our own. Practically speaking, Xi \u2063and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/videos\/business\/2022\/03\/18\/putin-wealth-oligarchs-russia-investigation-ebof-griffin-pkg-vpx.cnn\">Putin<\/a> are among \u200dthe world\u2019s top 10 wealthiest men. Corruption \u2063is so\u2064 pervasive in China and Russia that most any rival can be credibly accused and convicted of corruption to remove them from power.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-87088df2c4011e33665b3a921423aa48 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-87088df2c4011e33665b3a921423aa48\"><\/div>\n<p>And while federal law enforcement \u200dand <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/rep-jim-jordan-says-congress-must-target-fbis-budget-in-wake-of-durham-report\/\" title=\"Jim Jordan urges Congress to cut FBI's budget after Durham Report.\">intelligence officials worked<\/a> to undermine Trump with false allegations of \u200dRussian collusion \u2014 still largely believed by substantial numbers of left-leaning\u2064 Americans \u2014 the attempt was only partly successful in \u2063that it crippled \u200bsome of Trump\u2019s capacity to act while president but failed to eject\u2062 him from office.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Putin\u2019s Murderous Past<\/h2>\n<p>In\u2062 contrast, Putin, while serving in the weak office of prime minister in 1999 for the very \u200dunpopular outgoing president Boris Yeltsin, likely executed a series of \u201cterror\u201d bombings \u2064of apartment \u2063complexes, killing more than\u200c 200 \u2062Russians. The bombings were blamed on Muslim Chechen terrorists,\u2063 allowing Putin to rebrand himself \u2062as a strong leader. \u200dAfter\u200b four bombs had already detonated in\u200d various cities, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wilsoncenter.org\/publication\/foiled-attack-or-failed-exercise-look-ryazan-1999\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">two residents of an apartment\u2064 building in Ryazan reported a suspicious car in\u2063 September 1999<\/a>. Local police didn\u2019t find the car, but they did find what appeared to be an improvised\u200c bomb and a detonator in the basement. The building was evacuated and the device \u200dremoved only to have\u200c the successor to \u200bthe KGB, the FSB, announce the \u200bnext day \u200bthat the bomb parts were part \u200cof\u2062 a civil defense test.\u200d All the evidence was subsequently sealed up \u2062\u2014 move along,\u2063 nothing to see here, \u2063citizen.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, Putin didn\u2019t much have to worry about a vigorous, independent press to put forward a counter-narrative. Since Putin\u2019s \u200bascent to power in\u200d 1999, some <a href=\"https:\/\/cpj.org\/data\/killed\/europe\/russia\/?status=Killed&#038;motiveConfirmed%5B%5D=Confirmed&#038;motiveUnconfirmed%5B%5D=Unconfirmed&#038;type%5B%5D=Journalist&#038;type%5B%5D=Media%20Worker&#038;cc_fips%5B%5D=US&#038;start_year=1999&#038;end_year=2023&#038;group_by=location\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">43 journalists or\u200b media workers have been killed in Russia, and at\u200c least 26 were murdered<\/a>, many under circumstances that suggested they were running afoul of Putin. The last Russian journalist to be officially listed as murdered\u200c was <a href=\"https:\/\/cpj.org\/data\/people\/dmitry-popkov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">killed in 2017<\/a> \u2014 it\u2019s almost as if Russian journalists now know\u200d the boundaries of \u200dacceptable reporting.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Truth Is More Accessible in the U.S.<\/h2>\n<p>While America is burdened with corporate media that skew left, tend\u2064 to lazy acceptance of the official\u2063 party line, and are \u200cprofoundly uncurious, the truth does \u2063often get out into the public. For that, \u200cwe can thank \u200cthree things: the First Amendment, the democratization\u2062 of information\u2064 sharing\u2062 via digital platforms and the proliferation of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/how-the-left-wing-media-promoted-a-baseless-covid-conspiracy-theory\/\" title=\"How The Left-Wing Media Promoted A Baseless COVID Conspiracy Theory\">cable news outlets<\/a>, \u2063and competitive pressures that often act to\u200b force legacy media to cover stories \u2014 albeit reluctantly.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-8535479620b0a2d2cff52dd387a69e8a fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-8535479620b0a2d2cff52dd387a69e8a\"><\/div>\n<p>This makes it\u200c difficult for\u2063 the central government to conduct information operations that\u200b stick. Whether the official line on\u2064 Covid-19, Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop, Biden family corruption,\u2062 or Trump-Russia collusion, all of these stories, which were once the official line, have fallen apart to one degree or another.<\/p>\n<p>That these official cover stories are imploding is a function of our system and culture, as lurching, slow, and imperfect as it seems. In\u200b each, our system of divided government with co-equal branches has a role \u2014 imagine the state of these stories if Republicans didn\u2019t win the U.S. \u200dHouse in 2022 \u2014 as well as\u200b our press freedoms and the new age\u2064 of digital journalism.<\/p>\n<p>The latter factor,\u200d by the way,\u2062 is why China \u200bhas invested so \u2063much in the Great \u2063Firewall of China, rapid-response online censoring, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/from-impeaching-incitement-to-canceling-conservatism\/\" title=\"From Impeaching Incitement to Canceling Conservatism\">social credit system<\/a>. It\u2019s all designed \u200bto\u200b insulate the Chinese Communist Party from any criticism.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Insulation from\u200b the Truth Leads to Weakness<\/h2>\n<p>While Putin and Xi would view our relatively freewheeling exchange of information as a weakness, the opposite is true.<\/p>\n<p>In Russia\u200b and China, the dictators\u200c hear what they want to hear. This reduces the\u200d opportunity \u200bfor corrective feedback within a regime while extending \u200cthe life of that regime, regardless of its effectiveness and responsiveness to the people\u2019s needs. In Putin\u2019s case, it led to a dangerous and mistaken view that Ukraine\u2019s government would \u2062collapse as soon as the lightning invasion was unleashed in February 2022. \u2062In Xi\u2019s case, it may\u2062 lead to a fatal miscalculation on attacking Taiwan.<\/p>\n<p>In America, \u2062we have yet to\u200d see the consequences for the official lies over Covid-19\u2019s origins and U.S. gain-of-function funding for the Wuhan virology lab, for official FBI and intelligence community \u2063coverups on behalf of\u2063 President\u2063 Biden and his extended family, and for the federal\u200b assault on Trump \u200bthat started in 2016 and never stopped. But whether it be in the form of individuals being held\u2063 to account or entire organizations being reformed, eliminated, or restructured, something will likely \u2064happen and America will be\u200d the stronger for it.<\/p>\n<p>But government reform \u200djust doesn\u2019t happen spontaneously. It will take a concerted, disciplined effort, something that only Trump or\u200b Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis appear inclined to take on.\u200c The task will be Herculean \u2014 akin to cleaning the \u200bAugean\u200c stables. And, with Trump able to serve one term and DeSantis \u200ctwo, the\u2064 trick is not to let the vital task of agency accountability become a tale of a day in the life of\u2064 Sisyphus.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-18d3c64f9eda30ca1196985a01b212e2 fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-18d3c64f9eda30ca1196985a01b212e2\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">    \t\t\t\t\t   \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In their relentless pursuit to destroy former President Donald Trump&#8217;s chances of a comeback, the left-wing establishment is engaging in a legal battle that resembles carpet-bombing.
