The U.S. earnings season \u200dmoves up a gear with\u200c Meta Platforms, Microsoft and Alphabet among the big names reporting.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dovish signals from Fed Chair Jerome Powell would probably boost risk appetite and\u2062 lift global stocks markets. The dollar and U.S. bond yields would likely come under downward pressure too \u2013 often bullish triggers for\u200d Asian and emerging markets.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Investors in Asia have to wait until Friday for the big \u200dtwo set pieces of\u200c the week.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>More\u2062 than three quarters of economists polled \u200dby Reuters expect the BOJ to \u2063keep policy unchanged, \u200bincluding its yield control scheme.\u200d BOJ \u200dGovernor Kazuo Ueda has signaled his resolve to maintain massive monetary stimulus, despite inflation persistently outpacing the bank\u2019s 2% target.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In a symbolic development last week, Japan\u2019s\u200d annual\u2064 rate of headline consumer\u200d inflation rose above comparable U.S. inflation for the first time since 2015. But \u200dthe BOJ\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/marketmind-g3-central-banks-and-china-politburo-bonanza\/\" title=\"Marketmind: Central banks of G3 and China Politburo in a lucrative situation.\">deflation battle scars run deep<\/a>, so investor hopes of and end to super-loose policy are being pushed back further.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>It\u2019s a different story in China \u2013 the economy and markets are badly underperforming, growth forecasts are being slashed,\u200b and the big danger is deflation, not inflation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The central bank has \u200bbeen\u200d reluctant to ease\u200c policy \u200bbecause the\u200b already weak yuan could come under even greater selling pressure, so\u2062 investors are pinning their hopes on a fiscal boost from Beijing. \u2064And it \u2062will have to be a significant \u200dboost.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Measures announced on Friday\u200b to help boost sales of cars and electronics failed to impress investors, and foreigners are steering \u2062clear of China\u2019s financial assets even though they are\u2062 relatively cheap.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>But the\u200d economic, financial, political and social challenges Beijing \u2062faces are such that Chinese stocks\u2062 can get even cheaper before foreign investors start buying \u200dagain en \u2064masse.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday\u2019s economic data calendar and potential market-movers in Asia will be the Japanese and Australian PMIs, and the\u200b latest inflation figures from Malaysia and\u2063 Singapore.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Malaysian inflation is expected to fall to\u200c 2.4% in June \u2013 the lowest since April last year\u200b \u2013 from 2.8% in May.
