Version: 4.0.47--><h2>US\u2062 Olympian and NFL Veteran Diagnosed\u200c with Blood Clots, Training Camp Status \u2064in Question<\/h2>\n<p>One of the most athletic players in \u2062the NFL was recently delivered \u2064some\u2064 \u201calarming\u201d health news, according to a Friday release from \u2063his team.<\/p>\n<p>The Cleveland Browns \u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clevelandbrowns.com\/news\/browns-non-football-illness-marquise-goodwin?.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> that it had\u2062 put longtime NFL \u200creceiver Marquise Goodwin on the non<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/atlanta-falcons-wide-receiver-suspended-indefinitely-after-betting-on-games\/\" title=\"Atlanta Falcons Wide Receiver Suspended Indefinitely After Betting On Games\">-football illness list<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The release \u2063also noted that Goodwin would miss the start \u200cof\u200d training camp, but\u2062 otherwise provided no other timetable for a return.<\/p>\n<p>Goodwin\u200b will be missing these foreseeable\u2063 events \u2063because a\u2062 check-up revealed that he had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/moms-teen-basketball-player-son-blood-clots-brain-now-another-blames-1-thing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blood clots<\/a> in his legs and lungs.<\/p>\n<p>The 32-year-old Goodwin noticed discomfort\u2064 in his\u2063 legs and\u200b shortness of breath\u2062 after organized \u2063team activities in \u200bthe spring.<\/p>\n<p>The\u2064 subsequent check-up revealed\u2063 the severity of those\u200b issues.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the unclear future and the initial shock of the diagnosis,\u200c Goodwin appears to be taking the entire\u200d episode in stride.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was really alarming at first because I\u2019ve experienced injury throughout\u200c my career, but it\u2019s never been anything like this that could\u200c turn into something detrimental if it\u2019s not taken care of,\u201d Goodwin said, according to the Browns\u2064 release. \u201cIt \u200bwas frightening at first, but now I\u2019m at ease with it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Goodwin cited <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/never-scared-nfl-legend-cites-christian-faith-source-strength-cancer-battle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">his \u200dfaith<\/a> as another reason\u200d he\u200d was ready to move forward with his life, regardless of what this health diagnosis ultimately brought.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve prayed and just given it over to God,\u201d \u200bGoodwin said. \u201cIt\u2019s out of my control, and the \u200donly thing I can control is\u2064 my effort\u200d and attitude and how\u200c I approach each \u2064day moving\u200c forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Goodwin \u200breiterated the issue\u2063 of \u201ccontrol\u201d\u200d later \u2064in the release.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s one\u200b of those things that is totally out \u2063of my \u200bcontrol, out \u200dof the doctor\u2019s control and out of the trainer\u2019s control,\u201d he\u2062 said. \u201cIt\u2019s really an unfortunate deal we have \u200bto deal\u2063 with, but we need to deal\u2063 with it in the proper fashion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe\u200b Browns are doing everything in their power\u200c to support me through \u2063it by allowing me to be around the team, on the field\u2063 and in meetings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m grateful for \u200bthat,\u200d and hopefully\u2063 this \u200bthing \u2063gets back under control \u200cand I can\u200b feel my \u2062body and what I need to\u200c feel so I can help this \u2064team make this run.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Helping\u2063 keep Goodwin\u2019s spirits\u200b up are \u2064his coaches and teammates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s very scary, and right away you worry about Marquise \u2064and his health,\u201d Browns head coach\u200d Kevin\u200c Stefanski said,\u2063 according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clevelandbrowns.com\/news\/marquise-goodwins-recovery-inspirational-amari-cooper-browns-teammates\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the team<\/a>. \u201cAll of it remains to be seen from a health standpoint and when he\u200c is ready to go. In the meantime, we\u2063 are supporting \u200chim and he \u200bis listening \u2064to\u200d doctors. We are going to support him and give him everything he needs medically.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s very inspirational,\u201d Browns star receiver Amari Cooper\u200d said of Goodwin\u2019s ongoing recovery. \u201cWe\u2019re\u200b so used to\u200c adversity and the ebbs and\u2062 flows that it creates this toughness about \u2064it so that we can deal\u200b with\u200c anything, \u2063or to where we can not know we\u2019re \u200ddealing\u200d with something really\u200c strange or extreme. We\u200b feel like we can overcome it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo yeah,\u2064 (what Goodwin is going through) is definitely inspirational. I\u2019m hoping for the best.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Along with Goodwin\u2019s continued recovery, this year\u2019s Browns team will otherwise\u2063 focus on turning around last year\u2019s disappointing \u200bresult.<\/p>\n<p>The\u200c team finished\u200d last year with \u200ca\u2063 losing 7-10 record, missing the playoffs and finishing dead last in the AFC North \u2014\u200c again.<\/p>\n<p>That \u200bmoribund season was compounded with the lackluster debut of new Browns \u2062quarterback Deshaun Watson. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/lebron-james-roasted-comment-nfl-star-faced-2-dozen-sexual-assault-allegations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The controversial playmaker<\/a> has\u2063 been a\u200c lightning rod for criticism after a number \u200bof women <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-star-nfl-player-police-investigation-allegations-sexual-misconduct-pile\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">accused him of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/proposed-bill-would-give-n-y-gov-power-to-detain-citizens-deemed-a-public-health-hazard\/\" title=\"Proposed bill would give N.Y. Gov. power to detain citizens deemed a \u2018public health hazard\u2019\">sexual misconduct<\/a><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>After the Browns traded a hefty amount of draft\u2062 capital \u2064for Watson (and lavished him \u2064with a mammoth contract), \u2064the \u200bformer Clemson star\u200c sputtered through six games (he missed most of the\u2062 year due to suspension over the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/us-olympian-and-nfl-veteran-diagnosed-with-blood-clots-training-camp-status-in-question\/\" title=\"US Olympian and NFL veteran's training camp status uncertain due to blood clot diagnosis.\">aforementioned\u2062 sexual misconduct allegations<\/a>), passing for\u200c a paltry 1,102 yards on a poor \u200c58.2 percent completion rate, and throwing just \u2064seven touchdowns \u200cto five interceptions.<\/p>\n<p>While Goodwin is currently \u200dprojecting\u200d as the team\u2019s \u2064fourth or \u200cfifth wide receiver option, the diminutive receiver brings a new element for Watson, adding a dash of\u2064 speed to a\u200c receiving corps better known for route-runners and\u2064 sure hands.<\/p>\n<p>And \u201cdash of speed\u201d might be underselling it. Goodwin, \u200dwhen healthy, is literally an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/man-pretends-woman-whines-banned-competing-women-olympics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Olympic-level athlete<\/a>, as he competed in the 2012 \u2064Summer Olympics.
