Disgraceful. Unconscionable'\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hollywood-celebs-rage-in-defeat-after-barrett-confirmation-revolting-disgraceful-unconscionable\/\">high court<\/a> to review a 2000 ruling \u200cknown as Hill\u200b v.\u200b Colorado, which involved a 1993 law that regulates First Amendment activity within 100 feet of an entrance of a healthcare\u200d facility and \u200bdisallows approaching a person within eight feet without their consent to provide counseling or leaflets.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>Compassionate Support for\u2062 Women Considering Abortion<\/h3>\n<p>A press release\u200b from the firm describes Vitagliano\u2062 as a devout Catholic occupational therapist\u200c for\u2064 special \u200bneeds children\u200b who felt &#8220;called to offer compassionate, face-to-face support for women considering abortion.&#8221;\u200c Her counsel argues\u200b a <a title=\"NBA, Nike, Apple, Google Silent on China\u2019s Crackdown on Journalists in Hong Kong\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nba-nike-apple-google-silent-on-chinas-crackdown-on-journalists-in-hong-kong\/\">law enacted<\/a> in Westchester County, New York, deprives &#8220;abortion-vulnerable&#8221; women of a chance\u2063 to\u200c consider all their options before going through with a pregnancy termination.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;People don&#8217;t have abortions because they \u2064think abortion is awesome,&#8221; <strong>Mark Rienzi<\/strong>, president and\u2064 CEO at Becket, told the \u2064Washington Examiner. \u200c&#8221;They have abortions frequently because they think they have\u2062 no place else to turn and no one to help them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Rienzi described the law as the county&#8217;s &#8220;post-Dobbs reaction,&#8221; referring to the Supreme Court 2022 decision that <a title=\"Biden Puts Susan Rice in Charge of Effort to Expand Vote by Mail\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-puts-susan-rice-in-charge-of-effort-to-expand-vote-by-mail\/\">allowed states<\/a> to <a title=\"Supreme Court to review law restricting protests near abortion clinics.\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/supreme-court-tapped-to-review-law-blocking-protests-near-abortion-clinics\/\">impose laws limiting abortion access<\/a>. &#8220;So they took away the right to be out\u2064 on \u2063the sidewalk, and she&#8217;s trying to get \u200cout there,&#8221; Rienzi added.<\/p>\n<p>On June\u200b 21,\u2064 the United States\u200b Court \u200cof Appeals for the 2nd Circuit said the Westchester law adopted last year \u200cwas valid under the Hill ruling. The <a title=\"Why States Should Protect Religion As \u2018Essential\u2019 During Emergencies\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/why-states-should-protect-religion-as-essential-during-emergencies\/\">high court held<\/a> in 2000 that the similar Colorado law was not a regulation of speech but a &#8220;regulation of the \u200cplaces where some speech may occur.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Counsel \u2062for Vitagliano is hopeful that the high court will take up \u2062her petition in part because the Supreme Court\u2064 has signaled a willingness over the last decade to reexamine past decisions related to First Amendment rights.<\/p>\n<p>For example, the justices\u200c decided Groff v. DeJoy in June, a ruling that significantly elevated the burden\u200c on employers who may attempt to deny an employee&#8217;s request to avoid working on the Sabbath. That ruling overturned a 1977 precedent from Trans World Airlines v. Hardison, which\u2064 held that\u200c an\u200d employer need not accommodate an employee&#8217;s \u2063desire to avoid Sabbath\u2063 labor that would mean operating\u200b shorthanded or requiring doling out premium wages to replace the workers. The justices also sided\u2063 last year in favor \u200dof a Washington \u200bpublic school \u2062football coach who was fired for kneeling and \u200dengaging in post-game \u2062prayers on the field.<\/p>\n<p>In 2014, the Supreme Court \u2062struck down a Massachusetts law \u2063that set a 35-foot buffer zone around abortion\u2062 clinics, but the\u2063 court did not cite\u2063 the Hill decision \u200bin that ruling.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the \u200b6th Circuit temporarily blocked a \u2062Kentucky county 10-foot buffer zone law, citing\u2063 that 2014 decision. Other challenges to\u2062 buffer zone laws are ongoing in\u2063 the lower court, including a\u2063 dispute \u200cover a 20-foot buffer \u2062zone adopted by Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;No one&#8217;s looking for the right to block or tackle somebody or anything like that. But we are looking\u2064 for the right to\u2062 speak peacefully,&#8221;\u2062 Rienzi said.<\/p>\n<p>The case is known as Vitagliano v. County of Westchester.
