He believes \u200bthat consumers should have the freedom to decide whether the upfront\u200d cost of a heat-pump\u2064 water heater is worth the potential\u2063 long-term \u2064savings. According to him, in many cases, the monthly savings never compensate for the initial equipment cost.<\/p>\n<p>If approved, the proposed rule would apply to new\u2063 water heater models by 2029, resulting in an average savings \u200bof $1,868 for consumers over the appliance&#8217;s lifespan. Renters and those in low-income households would experience even\u200b greater savings.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This proposal reinforces the trajectory of consumer savings that forms\u200d the key pillar of Bidenomics,&#8221; stated U.S. Secretary of\u200c Energy Jennifer M. Granholm.
