Biden begged countries like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2022\/07\/16\/biden-saudi-arabia-oil-gas-prices\/10049882002\/?gnt-cfr=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Saudi Arabia<\/a> \u2064and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/biden-spurns-us-energy-producers-turns-venezuela-oil\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Venezuela<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cdc-director-not-recommending-n95-masks-for-general-public\/\" title=\"CDC director not recommending N95 masks for general public\">increase production<\/a> to save his political standing when \u200dgasoline prices were\u2063 soaring \u200clast summer.<\/p>\n<p>But Biden has it in for domestic production,\u200c especially in the brilliantly productive Permian\u200c Basin.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The Permian\u2063 Basin is an expanse of sedimentary reservoirs across \u200bWest Texas and \u2062southeastern New \u200cMexico that are uniquely \u201cstacked\u201d \u2064\u2014 meaning there are \u2064multiple \u2062productive oil and gas reservoirs on top of one another. As colorfully explained by geologist David Middleton, \u201cfinding\u200d stacked plays is like getting\u200b a herd of Unicorn ponies for Christmas.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Unicorn ponies, indeed! The Permian is the single most\u2062 prolific oil-producing patch in the \u200dUnited States; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eia.gov\/petroleum\/weekly\/archive\/2023\/230111\/includes\/analysis_print.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">almost half<\/a> of all \u200bU.S. crude \u200doil production comes\u2064 from that \u2062single region. It\u200d is \u200calso the second-largest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-video-links-biden-to-ukrainian-corruption-burisma-indictment-reveals-ex-president-yanukovich-illegally-obtained-7-4-billion-laundered-thru-fund-close-to-us-democratic-party\/\" title=\"New Video Links Biden to Ukrainian Corruption \u2013 Burisma Indictment Reveals Ex-President Yanukovich Illegally Obtained .4 Billion Laundered Thru Fund \u201cClose to US Democratic Party\u201d\">natural gas<\/a>-producing basin behind\u200c the Appalachian \u200cBasin. Despite being second \u200dbest, the Permian still produces about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eia.gov\/todayinenergy\/detail.php?id=56800\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">18 percent<\/a> of our natural gas.<\/p>\n<p>Notwithstanding \u2062repeated\u2062 claims over the years\u2062 that\u200d the Permian is about to hit peak production (any day now, for real this\u2063 time!), \u2062it just keeps on breaking production records and is projected \u200dby \u200dthe U.S. Energy Information Administration and\u200b other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/davidblackmon\/2017\/08\/17\/gilmer-we-should-view-the-permian-basin-as-a-permanent-resource\/?sh=65a6528556ff\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">experts<\/a> to \u200bcontinue to produce well into the\u2063 future, practically forever. It is \u200bnearly impossible to express\u2063 just how much oil and gas is down there.<\/p>\n<p>So it\u2019s no wonder that\u200b the Biden\u200c administration would turn its fiery green eye \u200con this particular part of the American Southwest.<\/p>\n<h3>Regulatory Harassment and Environmental Attacks<\/h3>\n<p>One of the constraints on oil and gas production, especially at a regional scale,\u200b is\u2064 how to \u2064move\u2062 the stuff \u200conce it\u2019s out of the ground. After all,\u200c you\u200d can\u2019t do anything with natural gas \u2062if you have nowhere to send\u2063 it.<\/p>\n<p>There has been \u200bsome progress \u2064on this \u200dfront, with new export hubs being \u2063built on the coast of\u200d the Gulf of Mexico, but pipelines are \u200done of the special targets of the\u2064 environmental left, of which Biden and various political appointees in his administration are long-standing members. The Biden administration has withdrawn permits for several pipelines needing federal approval \u2063and\u2064 has simply\u2062 denied other contenders due consideration.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, \u200dthis stuff is a little \u2064harder in Texas than\u2062 it is in other states; most oil and gas operations, including pipelines, are on private or state\u200d lands, not \u200bfederal. The Texas government is also famously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2021\/01\/28\/abbott-biden-energy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ornery<\/a> when its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-how-nebraska-has-the-lowest-unemployment-rate-in-the-nation-gov-pete-ricketts\/\" title=\"EXCLUSIVE: How Nebraska Has the Lowest Unemployment Rate in the Nation: Gov. Pete Ricketts\">biggest industry<\/a> is\u2062 threatened. \u200dThe feds can\u2019t stop all the projects going forward in Texas, and\u2063 there are some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mrt.com\/business\/oil\/article\/eia-permian-basin-sets-natural-gas-production-18152634.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">projects<\/a> set to come \u2064online soon that will\u2062 increase natural gas capacity \u2062in at least four pipelines.<\/p>\n<p>The assault on the \u200bPermian is thus mostly\u2063 in the form of regulatory harassment.<\/p>\n<p>The Environmental Protection Agency\u2064 has \u2062conducted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/newsreleases\/epa-announces-flyovers-permian-basin-new-mexico-and-texas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">helicopter flights<\/a> over the\u200b Permian looking \u200cfor methane \u201csuper emitters,\u201d which the \u200dagency says are dangerous and need to\u200c be \u200daddressed urgently, delivering hefty\u2063 fines and legal penalties to apparent violators. The EPA has imposed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/controlling-air-pollution-oil-and-natural-gas-industry\/epa-issues-supplemental-proposal-reduce\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stricter rules<\/a> \u200b on methane emissions\u200c to harass the\u200c industry even more.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2062 also went after the Permian\u200b region over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2023\/01\/13\/texas-permian-basin-air-polution-epa-oil\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ozone standards<\/a>, but pushback from Texas forced\u2062 the EPA to put that avenue of attack on hold \u2014 for now.<\/p>\n<p>Most recently, the administration revived a long-standing\u2063 question about a \u200bcertain species of lizard that lives in\u200c only\u2062 one \u200dplace \u2014\u200d smack dab in the Permian.<\/p>\n<p>The \u200dU.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has <a href=\"https:\/\/heartlanddailynews.com\/2023\/07\/biden-administrations-possible-endangered-listing-threatens-oil-and-gas-production\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">proposed<\/a> tossing out years of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/op-ed-the-biden-administration-is-harassing-our-biggest-oil-producing-region\/\" title=\"Op-Ed: Biden Administration Targets Major Oil Region\">cooperative efforts \u2014 voluntary programs shaped<\/a> in conjunction with the FWS to both maintain the health of the \u2063dunes sagebrush lizard and keep reasonable local oil and gas operations \u2064going \u2014 by listing the species as endangered.<\/p>\n<p>Conveniently, the lizard\u2019s critical habitat in need of \u200cprotecting\u200c would then \u200cbe off\u200c limits to most human activities, oil and gas production foremost among them. The habitat spans a huge portion of the most \u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eia.gov\/todayinenergy\/detail.php?id=57020\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">productive counties<\/a> in the Permian.<\/p>\n<p>Karr Ingham, executive vice\u2063 president of\u2062 the Texas Alliance \u200cof Oil and Gas Producers, said \u200dthat it is completely unsurprising that the Biden administration is taking a scatter-shot approach to target the Permian Basin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you have\u2064 an \u2063administration that is openly hostile towards\u200d a domestic industry, in this case the U.S. oil-\u2064 and gas-producing industry, \u200byou are going to direct that hostility at \u2063the one region\u200b of the country that accounts for the \u2064lion\u2019s share \u2062of U.S. production,\u201d Ingham said.<\/p>\n<p>He said \u2063it is common for Biden, et al., to make unreasonable demands that\u200b lead to \u201cunworkable\u201d delays \u2014 such as delays in permitting approval from federal agencies in order to have would-be producers simply give up.<\/p>\n<p>Pending \u2063applications for permits to \u200cdrill have been slowly climbing in \u200cnumber, while\u2062 approved permits have been declining. \u2064As of April, there were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blm.gov\/programs\/energy-and-minerals\/oil-and-gas\/operations-and-production\/permitting\/applications-permits-drill\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">5,025 pending\u200d applications<\/a> for permits to drill on \u200dfederal leases, and 3,886 of those were in New Mexico alone.<\/p>\n<p>Undeniably, Biden is hostile to the domestic oil and gas industry. Thankfully, most of\u200b the \u2064Permian is in\u2063 the state of Texas, \u200dwhich is one of the handful of\u2063 states\u200b actively pushing back against Biden\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/americas-suicidal-energy-policy-has-very-real-costs\/\" title=\"America\u2019s Suicidal Energy Policy Has Very Real Costs\">suicidal energy policy<\/a>, and thus has largely been unaffected \u200bso far\u2063 by Biden\u2019s hostility and the administration\u2019s actions.<\/p>\n<p>Still, even the oil and gas industry in\u200b Texas is being targeted by executive agencies. It strikes \u200bme that it may be <em>because<\/em> Texas pushes back \u2062so much that\u200d the Biden\u2063 administration has special hostility toward it.<\/p>\n<p>If \u200cthat\u2019s the case, keep it up, Texas!
