We\u2019re just trying to keep the doors open,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Rusell initially phoned\u2063 911\u2062 at \u2063about 9:30 p.m. on July 13 saying she<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/hoax-gay-mans-viral-claim-set-fire-hate-filled-attack-seemingly-just-went-smoke\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> spotted\u2062 a toddler<\/a> walking along \u200ban interstate highway. By the time police, arrived, Russell was gone.<\/p>\n<p>Her mother, Talitha\u200d Russell, has told interviewers \u200cher daughter \u00a0\u201cfought for her life\u201d to escape, but Police Chief Nick Derzis said his investigators have been \u201cunable to verify most of Carlee\u2019s initial statement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDue to the public fear this case has generated, we owe\u2062 it to the \u2063public to share what we have learned,\u201d\u200b Derzis said, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wesh.com\/article\/carlee-russell-google-searches\/44597903\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WESH-TV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Surveillance video showed\u200d that Russell hid a bathrobe and toilet paper when she left work\u200b Thursday, ordered food from one restaurant and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/police-update-carlee-russell-most-likely-lied-about-kidnapping-boyfriend-deletes-couple-pics\/\" title=\"Police Update: Carlee Russell likely fabricated kidnapping; boyfriend removes shared photos.\">bought granola bars<\/a> and cheese crackers at Target.<\/p>\n<p>Derzis \u2064said that during Rusell\u2019s call to 911, she traveled 600 yards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSix football \u2063fields, to think a toddler could\u2063 travel six football fields, without getting in the \u200broad, without crying, it\u2019s very hard to understand,\u201d Derzis said.<\/p>\n<p>Derzis said Russell has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/proud-boys-leader-enrique-tarrio-ordered-freed-without-bail-banned-from-d-c-until-june-court-date\/\" title=\"Proud Boys Leader Enrique Tarrio Ordered Freed Without Bail; Banned From D.C. Until June Court Date\">told police<\/a> a man with orange hair and a bald spot, aided by a woman,\u2062 forced her into a \u200bcar. She later\u2063 woke up in the back of a semi-truck.<\/p>\n<p>Russell told police she was forced to take her clothes off, and she thought her captors took pictures. She said the woman who \u2064took her captive\u2064 played with her hair and fed her cheese crackers.<\/p>\n<p>She \u200dsaid she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/eye-popping-reward-noose-obama-presidential-center-comes-empty-just-another-hoax\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eventually escaped<\/a>, ran through\u2063 some woods, and made it to her house.<\/p>\n<p>She added she was\u200b ultimately able to escape and ran through some woods before she was able\u200b to find her way and walk back home.<\/p>\n<div class=\"firefly-embed\">\n<\/div>\n<p>Derzis said internet searches Russell made the day she disappeared included, \u201cDo you have to pay \u200dfor an Amber Alert,\u201d \u201cHow to take money from\u200b a register without\u2064 being caught,\u201d \u201cBirmingham \u2062bus station,\u201d \u201cTaken (movie about abduction),\u201d and \u201cmaximum age \u2064for an Amber Alert.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are many questions left to \u200dbe answered, but only Carlee can answer those questions,\u201d Derzis said.\u200b \u201cI do think\u2062 it\u2019s highly unusual for the day someone gets kidnapped, several hours before \u2063that, they\u2019re googling \u2063the movie Taken,\u200b about an abduction, I find that very \u200dstrange.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Post noted that just minutes before \u200ccalling 911 she tweeted, \u201cYeah\u200b I want a family now.<\/p>\n<p>That tweet came after ones that said, \u201cToday was\u2063 a GREAT\u200b day God\u00a0be looking out I\u2019m telling you!!\u201d and \u201csomeone\u200b to tell you \u2018I love you\u2019 and don\u2019t got a reason.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Eric Guster,\u200c a Birmingham attorney, said so far police are allowing the public to \u2063read between the lines, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wvtm13.com\/article\/local-attorney-says-he-cant-believe-carlee-russell-hasnt-been-arrested\/44604380\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WVTM-TV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe says she was kidnaped, and a kidnapping didn\u2019t happen. (They say) our citizens are safe. There\u2019s \u200dnot a kidnapper out there.
