It emphasized the need for a broader conversation on racism and bias\u200b to bring about meaningful change.<\/p>\n<p>During the training, \u200dnurses were \u200btaught \u200cabout various examples of covert \u200dracism, such as\u2063 &#8220;white silence,&#8221; &#8220;denying institutional racism,&#8221; and &#8220;weaponizing whiteness.&#8221; They were also discouraged from suggesting that \u2064there is no such thing as white\u200c privilege.<\/p>\n<p>While many nurses expressed frustration and objections to the content of the training, they felt compelled to complete it due to \u2064concerns about\u200c potential disciplinary consequences.<\/p>\n<p>Rebecca Wall, a 40-year nursing veteran, found the training offensive and criticized the notion that failure to\u200b comply with the course would render her career valueless. She expressed \u2063her disappointment at being told that she was guilty of racism and needed to change her behavior in providing patient care.<\/p>\n<p>The Kentucky Board of Nursing has made it clear that\u2062 failure to\u2063 complete the implicit bias training could result \u200cin civil sanctions or disciplinary action.<\/p>\n<h3>Concerns about Ideological Influence<\/h3>\n<p>Laura Morgan, a program manager at\u2064 Do No \u200dHarm, an organization \u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/donoharmmedicine.org\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dedicated<\/a> to protecting\u2063 healthcare from radical and divisive ideologies, raised concerns about the influence of woke concepts at the state level. She attributed this \u200binfluence to the national American Nurses Association \u2064(ANA), stating that former ANA President Ernest Grant shifted the organization to the Left following the George Floyd riots.<\/p>\n<p>Morgan highlighted a &#8220;racial reckoning&#8221; statement from the ANA that \u2062portrayed nurses as having caused permanent harm to patients throughout the years.
