The board chair, Sonja Shaw, cut off Thurmond&#8217;s microphone when he exceeded\u200d the speaking time limit. Refusing to leave,\u2063 Thurmond was eventually removed from the building by the \u2062police. The\u200c board proceeded to\u2063 pass the resolution with a\u200b 4-1 vote, marking a significant rejection\u200d of guidance from the California\u2064 Department of\u2062 Education.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;This is not your meeting,&#8221;\u200d Shaw firmly told\u2062 Thurmond. &#8220;You may have a\u2062 seat, because if I did \u2063that to you in Sacramento you would not accept it. You\u2019re not going to blackmail us. \u2026\u2063 You will not bully us here in Chino.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Chino \u200cis just\u200c one of several Southern California school boards challenging the state&#8217;s\u2064 comprehensive LGBT mandates and\u200d guidelines. Governor Gavin\u2062 Newsom and Democratic \u200cstate lawmakers have responded to this resistance with threats, \u2062condemnation, \u2063and new legislation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I see a shift happening in the state, and it\u2019s partly because of years of having to deal with an overreaching state government on public \u2063education issues\u2014from the\u2062 COVID-19 shutdowns to vaccine mandates, and mask mandates,&#8221; said Jonathan Zachreson, founder of Reopen \u2062California Schools, a parent group advocating against school closures \u2063during the pandemic. &#8220;Now we \u2063have to deal with a lot \u200cof the culture wars Sacramento \u2062has \u200dbrought\u200b into \u200cschool districts. [Parents&#8217;] only recourse is to deal\u200d with it at the local level.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In \u2063a similar vein, the Temecula Valley school board recently voted \u2063for the second time to reject\u2062 a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/you-will-not-bully-us-california-school-board-shuts-down-state-superintendent\/\" title=\"California School Board Rejects State Superintendent, Declares: 'No Bullying Allowed'\">state-endorsed\u200c social studies curriculum<\/a> for elementary schools, deeming it inappropriate. \u2062In response, Governor Newsom announced plans to force the board to \u200cpurchase LGBT-themed textbooks and impose\u200b a $1.5 million\u2064 fine on the district for its defiance. The Temecula\u2064 school board \u200dpresident criticized Newsom&#8217;s actions as &#8220;unilateral&#8221; \u2064and\u200b stated that the board would\u2064 vote on\u2063 an alternative solution that complies with state and federal mandates.<\/p>\n<p>Newsom has also faced opposition from \u2064Glendale parents protesting their district&#8217;s Pride celebration plans. The governor labeled their campaign as &#8220;organized hate&#8221; and condemned their actions.<\/p>\n<p>During the Chino school board\u200c meeting, Thurmond defended the state&#8217;s guidance that schools\u2064 should keep students&#8217; gender changes confidential from parents.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;I ask you to consider\u200d this: that the policy\u2064 you consider tonight may not only \u2064fall\u2063 outside of privacy laws and safety for our students but may put\u2064 our students \u2064at risk,&#8221;\u200b Thurmond \u2063argued before his microphone was silenced.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>However, \u2062Shaw expressed her refusal to comply with state \u200bdirectives.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I\u2019m a \u2064soccer\u2062 mom\u2026 a fitness trainer. \u2062I had \u2062no desire to ever be in this seat,&#8221; she stated after Thurmond&#8217;s removal. &#8220;We trust \u200bthe state. We trust \u200bthe government. \u200cWell, \u2064we\u200d did until our eyes were opened and we \u200cwere \u2062no \u200dlonger able to because we noticed that we were sending \u2063our kids into danger.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Thurmond\u200b later took \u2063to\u200d Twitter, claiming he was &#8220;thrown out of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-president-trumps-executive-order-from-yesterday-directly-impacts-the-bidens-investments-in-china\/\" title=\"EXCLUSIVE: President Trump\u2019s Executive Order from Yesterday Directly Impacts the Bidens\u2019 Investments in China\">board meeting<\/a> by extremists&#8221; and expressing support for pending legislation that would penalize school districts\u2062 failing to provide sufficient LGBT materials\u200c for students.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, federal courts in California\u2064 are currently deliberating on\u200d similar issues. Two middle school\u2062 teachers filed a\u2062 lawsuit against their district&#8217;s policy\u2064 of concealing students&#8217; gender transitions \u2062from parents, arguing that \u2064it violated\u2064 their religious and speech rights. Additionally, two mothers have sued \u2063their respective districts for infringing upon their parental rights, alleging that\u2063 teachers covertly influenced\u2062 their\u200b daughters \u200dto identify as boys.<\/p>\n<p>In the state legislature, Assemblywoman Mia \u200bBonta, the attorney general&#8217;s wife, \u200crecently proposed a bill that would empower school boards to remove members who object \u2062to\u200c the state&#8217;s &#8220;inclusive&#8221; education policies. Lawmakers are also considering a Democrat-backed bill that would mandate LGBT training for middle and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/taking-woke-education-to-court\/\" title=\"Taking Woke Education To Court\">high school teachers<\/a>. Two California middle school teachers in \u2062April <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomasmoresociety.org\/news\/california-teachers-sue-school-district-for-forcing-them-to-deceive-parents-about-students-gender-preferences\">filed suit<\/a> against their \u200cdistrict&#8217;s policy \u2064of hiding students gender transitions from parents, saying it violated their religious and speech rights.\u200d And two California mothers have sued their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.actionnewsnow.com\/news\/local\/mom-suing-chico-unified-over-childs-gender-identity-shares-her-story\/article_c007d968-96d4-11ed-a91b-9b1c3b975480.html\">respective<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/libertycenter.org\/harmeet-dhillon-and-jessica-konen-announce-lawsuit-to-defend-parental-rights\/\">districts<\/a> \u200c for violating their parental rights, saying that teachers secretly manipulated their daughters to believe they were boys.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in\u200c the\u2062 state legislature, Assemblywoman Mia Bonta, the attorney general&#8217;s wife,\u2064 last month proposed a bill to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/tin-pot-tyranny-california-dem-moves-to-purge-school-boards-of-members-who-dissent-from-inclusive-regime\/\" title=\"California Democrat seeks to remove dissenting members from school boards in a bid for 'inclusive' control.\">authorize school boards<\/a> to \u200cboot members who object to the state\u2019s &#8220;inclusive&#8221; \u2064education \u200cpolicies.
