Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Cohen had \u2064brought\u200d the case \u2063over $1.9 million in fees he says he was owed\u2062 and another $1.9 million he said he was ordered to give\u200b up over a criminal \u2063case.<\/p>\n<p>Court filings show the fees were partially paid (<a href=\"https:\/\/iapps.courts.state.ny.us\/fbem\/DocumentDisplayServlet?documentId=5H4mzWCZ9YXSsOd4rUj6TQ==&#038;system=prod\">pdf<\/a>). The Trump Organization maintained it covered the legitimate invoices but not the ones related to some of Mr. Cohen\u2019s own crimes,\u2064 according \u200dto the filings.<\/p>\n<p>The settlement\u2063 takes one of Mr.\u200d Trump\u2019s many \u200clegal battles off his \u200cplate as he continues \u200bto \u200ccampaign for a second term as \u2064president.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Cohen is still also facing a $500 million \u200clawsuit \u200bfrom Mr. Trump over revealing\u200c &#8220;confidences&#8221; and &#8220;spreading \u200bfalsehoods,&#8221; which he has raised over $230,000 for through crowdfunding to cover\u2062 legal fees.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Cohen is also \u2063expected to be a witness in a criminal case Mr. Trump faces in Manhattan.<\/p>\n<h2>Loyalist-Turned-Detractor<\/h2>\n<p>&#8220;Time and time again, I felt it was my duty\u2064 to cover up his dirty deeds,&#8221; Mr. Cohen <a href=\"https:\/\/nytimes.com\/2023\/03\/22\/nyregion\/michael-cohen-donald-trump-indictment.html\">said<\/a> \u2064in\u200b 2018 as he pleaded guilty to a number of crimes \u2062he said\u200d he committed for Mr. Trump as he was running for office.<\/p>\n<p>The crimes included making illegal \u200bpayments\u2064 to two women in exchange for\u200c not speaking publicly about affairs they claimed to\u200d have with Mr. Trump, which is now \u2062the subject of another lawsuit in\u200b which Mr. Cohen is expected\u200b to testify.<\/p>\n<p>In April, Mr. Trump\u200b pleaded not guilty \u200bto <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/trump-appears-virtually-for-hearing-in-manhattan-criminal-case-judge-sets-trial-date_5285577.html\">34 counts<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/former-trump-lawyer-michael-cohen-settles-lawsuit-with-trump-org-right-before-trial\/\" title=\"Michael Cohen, ex-Trump lawyer, settles lawsuit with Trump Org just before trial.\">including falsifying business records related<\/a> to hush money \u2062payments.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Cohen\u2019s 2018 testimony marked\u2064 a solid break from Mr. Trump. (Stephanie Keith\/Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In 2019, he\u2064 testified for seven hours before Congress about Mr. Trump and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/watch-ohio-gop-senate-candidates-get-heated-have-to-be-separated-in-viral-clip\/\" title=\"WATCH: Ohio GOP Senate Candidates Get Heated, Have To Be Separated In Viral Clip\">alleged business dealings<\/a> with Russia, \u2063and was later investigated for \u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/house-oversight-republicans-calls-for-cohen-to-be-investigated-for-lying-again-to-congress_2875373.html\">perjury<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Cohen has since \u2064been a vocal opponent of Mr.\u200c Trump\u2019s, writing a memoir and making media appearances to \u2062speak against Mr. Trump and his supporters. On CBS in <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/blogs\/blog-briefing-room\/3930427-trumps-gop-defenders-are-in-the-cult-says-michael-cohen\/\">April<\/a>,\u200c he said Republicans following Trump were &#8220;in the cult, and I know\u2064 what it\u2019s like to be in the cult.&#8221; On MSNBC last <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/blogs\/blog-briefing-room\/4044185-michael-cohen-talks-trump-indictment-doj-docs\/\">month<\/a>, he said Mr. Trump would\u200c &#8220;throw anyone and \u200beveryone under the bus in order to preserve his own freedom, in order to benefit \u2063himself.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>Legal Battles Mounting<\/h2>\n<p>Mr.\u200b Trump is currently\u200d embroiled \u2062in several other cases.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, Mr. Trump revealed on social\u2062 media that he \u2064was sent a letter from special counsel Jack Smith, stating he was a target of the investigation into the \u200devents of\u2064 Jan. 6.
