Some of the commitments allegedly call for third-party oversight of the workings of commercial AI systems, though details on who will hold the companies accountable\u2064 and audit the technology are currently unknown.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cWe must be\u200d clear\u200d eyed and vigilant about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/tech-companies-voluntarily-agree-to-white-house-ai-safeguards\/\" title=\"Tech firms 'voluntarily' accept White House AI safeguards.\">threats emerging technologies<\/a> can pose,\u201d \u200cBiden\u200d said, adding that the companies have a\u2062 \u201cfundamental obligation\u201d to ensure their products are safe.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cSocial media \u2062has shown us the harm that powerful \u2064technology can do without the right safeguards in place,\u201d Biden added. \u201cThese commitments are a promising step, but we have \u200ca lot more work\u200d to\u2062 do together.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The tech firms have pledged to\u2063 increase transparency between themselves and governments as well \u2062as conduct\u200b research on how they are managing the risks of \u2063AI.<\/p>\n<p>Top officials from several of the tech\u200d firms have agreed\u2064 to meet with President Biden at the\u2062 White\u2064 House\u2063 on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the companies have also committed to implementing methods of reporting vulnerabilities in their AI systems as well\u2063 as \u201cwatermarking\u201d mechanisms\u2062 that will inform users when content has been AI-generated in order to help tell the difference between \u200dAI-deep fakes and real images.<\/p>\n<p>Advocates \u200bfor increased AI regulation\u2062 say the President\u2019s move \u200bto secure these commitments is a\u2064 start, but more needs to be done in order to ensure the companies are \u200cheld\u2064 accountable for their products.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>James Steyer, founder and CEO\u2063 of the nonprofit Common Sense Media, said\u2063 in \u2064a statement, \u201cHistory would indicate that many \u2064<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/another-massive-tech-company-announces-it-is-leaving-california\/\" title=\"Another Massive Tech Company Announces It Is Leaving California\">tech companies<\/a> do not actually walk the walk on a voluntary pledge to act responsibly and support \u200cstrong \u2062regulations.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Despite these concerns, some\u2062 tech company officials have stepped up to reaffirm their commitment \u2063to Biden\u2019s AI safeguards and even go beyond.
