This demographic tends\u2062 to vote overwhelmingly Democratic. However, Republicans are set to establish only one black-majority district, leading Democrats to\u200c argue that the\u200b party is defying the recent Supreme Court ruling.<\/p>\n<h3>Outcry Led by Left-Wing Groups<\/h3>\n<p>Several \u200d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/antifa-blm-vandalize-ice-building-burn-original-starbucks\/\" title=\"Antifa, BLM vandalize ICE building, burn original Starbucks\">left-wing groups<\/a> have spearheaded the outcry against this decision.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAlabama \u2064Republicans are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-accuse-alabama-gop-of-ignoring-supreme-court-with-new-congressional-map\/\" title=\"Alabama GOP accused of disregarding Supreme Court by Democrats with new congressional map.\">intentionally drawing political retention \u200dmaps<\/a> at the expense of black Alabamians \u200c\u2014 in defiance of\u2062 the Supreme Court and the Alabama district court. It is a continuation of the state\u2019s long, sordid history of disenfranchising black voters,\u201d Marina Jenkins, the executive director of\u2064 the National Redistricting Foundation, told NBC News.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Jenkins has \u200dpledged to challenge the new map\u2064 in \u2064court, which could potentially lead to another Supreme Court battle.<\/p>\n<p>NAACP\u200c Legal \u2064Defense Fund\u2062 attorney Deuel \u2062Ross commented, &#8220;This is exactly why the\u2062 Voting Rights Act was first \u200bcreated \u200b\u2014 this sort of\u200c stubbornness of states. It&#8217;s troubling, but\u2062 it&#8217;s part of a troubling history that has existed in America and Alabama for a long time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Republicans argue that they are meeting the criteria of the Voting Rights Act, which was not clearly \u2063defined. \u200bOne plan for the second district\u2064 has a 38% black population, while \u2062another has\u200b 42%.\u2064 Previously, the \u200cdistrict had \u200ca 30%\u2062 black population.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe believe it does meet the Voting Rights [Act] standard because \u200bwe followed all the guidelines,&#8221; stated state Sen. Steve Livingston, a Republican. &#8220;As \u200dan\u200b opportunity district, nobody knows \u2064what the definition of opportunity is. They didn\u2019t give us [a definition].&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Republican \u2064state Senate \u200bPresident Pro \u2063Tempore Greg Reed said, &#8220;I \u200cthink we\u2019re doing exactly what we\u2019re supposed\u2062 to do,\u200c our job, which is to put all the ideas on the table, both chambers engaged completely, \u200cand then we<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-continues-to-push-infrastructure-plan-on-gop\/\" title=\"Biden continues to push infrastructure plan on GOP\">\u2019ll move forward<\/a> to see where \u2063things go. Obviously, we\u2019re going to\u2062 come to \u2063some \u200dagreement between the\u200c two \u2063chambers, \u2063and that\u2019s very important for all of us.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Republicans\u200c in\u2064 Washington, including Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) \u200cand House Speaker Kevin\u200b McCarthy (R-CA), have confirmed that \u2064they are closely \u2062monitoring the situation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I\u2019d like to know where they\u2019re going to\u2062 go and whether they\u2019re in the process of happening,&#8221; \u2064McCarthy said, adding\u2064 that he has spoken with \u200d&#8221;a few&#8221; Alabama lawmakers. &#8220;I know \u2064the Democrats \u2063are trying very\u200c hard to \u2064redraw New York. &#8230; I think people should be\u2062 very \u200bfair in this process\u2062 to be able to see what\u2019s \u2063happening.
