Version: 4.0.47--><div class=\"post_content\">\n<h2>Former Trump Aide \u200bConvicted in Capitol Breach<\/h2>\n<p>A former President Donald Trump \u2064aide who \u200bworked at the State Department has\u2064 been convicted\u200c in \u2064relation to the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol breach.<\/p>\n<p>Federico \u201cFreddie\u201d Klein \u200cwas convicted on multiple \u200dassault \u2063charges \u2063and other felony offenses on July 20 by U.S. District \u2063Judge Trevor \u200dMcFadden, a Trump appointee.<\/p>\n<p>His co-defendant Steven \u2063Cappuccio was \u2062also convicted on similar charges, although the judge\u2063 found him not guilty of an obstruction charge and a misdemeanor \u2063after determining that he \u201cwas not politically savvy enough to intend to \u2063stop the \u2063electoral\u2062 vote \u2063count,\u201d \u200caccording to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/dc-md-va\/2023\/07\/20\/federico-klein-guilty-jan-6-trump-appointee\/?utm_campaign=wp_main&#038;utm_medium=social&#038;utm_source=facebook\">Washington Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Judge McFadden heard testimony from Mr. Klein, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran\u200c who served in Iraq, \u2064without a jury \u2062before\u200d convicting \u200chim of 12 counts, \u2064including six charging him with assaulting, \u200dresisting, or impeding \u200cpolice officers.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Klein was placed\u200b under house arrest and is\u200b scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. \u20623.<\/p>\n<p>The Epoch Times has contacted his lawyer Stanley Woodward for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Klein was initially \u2062arrested on March 4, 2021, and\u200c released from custody on April 12.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors said in court filings (<a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.dcd.230265\/gov.uscourts.dcd.230265.667.0.pdf\">pdf<\/a>) that Mr. Klein was among \u200cthe \u201cthousands of people\u201d\u2062 who descended on the U.S. Capitol on Jan.\u2063 6 and attempted to interrupt the joint\u200d session \u200dof Congress as\u200d it certified the votes\u200c of the\u200b Electoral\u200b College for the 2020 \u2064Presidential Election.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3722114\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2021\/03\/05\/fbi-klein-1200x1060.jpg\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><\/noscript><\/figcaption><\/a><\/p>\n<p>    Federico Klein, top second\u200d from left, is seen in a handout by the\u2062 FBI seeking information on the breach of\u200c the U.S. \u200dCapitol\u2063 in\u200d Washington. \u2062(FBI)<br \/>\n  <\/figure>\n<h2>Klein \u2018Ignored\u2019 Police Orders<\/h2>\n<p>According to prosecutors, Mr. Klein traveled from his home\u200c in Washington, D.C. to the \u200bCapitol and joined Mr. Cappuccio \u2064and others\u200b to form a \u2063\u201cgroup of rioters\u200b who illegally entered the U.S. Capitol \u2064grounds that day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-state-department-aide-federico-klein-convicted-in-jan-6-case\/\" title=\"Federico Klein, Trump State Department aide, found guilty in Jan. 6 case.\">group overwhelmed police lines<\/a> before \u2064entering a tunnel leading to a Capitol building entrance in which \u201cdozens of other rioters were confronting police,\u201d\u2062 according\u200b to court documents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs Klein stood at the front of the police line, officers yelled, \u2018Move \u2063back!\u2019 to the rioters and attempted to move the\u2064 rioters back,\u201d court documents state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKlein ignored the orders and pushed hard against the police\u2062 officers. Klein told the officers, \u2018You can\u2019t stop this!\u2019 \u200bAs Klein \u2063continued to push forward, Officer Laschon \u2064Harvell attempted to push Klein back with his baton, but Klein pressed back against him, driving his \u200dleft shoulder\u2062 into Officer \u200bHarvell repeatedly,\u201d the court documents continue.<\/p>\n<p>At \u2063that point, according to\u2064 prosecutors, police were forced to\u2064 retreat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the tunnel, Klein yelled at\u200c officers, ignored commands\u200d to leave, and maintained his \u200bground at the forefront of the mob \u200cof\u2063 rioters. \u2064He reached towards \u200dthe police line \u200band \u2062attempted to \u200cgrab a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fact-check-does-this-video-show-ukrainian-police-declining-to-enforce-covid-19-lockdowns-and-mandates\/\" title=\"FACT CHECK: Does This Video Show Ukrainian Police Declining To Enforce COVID-19 Lockdowns And Mandates?\">police shield<\/a>, but was unsuccessful,\u201d \u200dprosecutors said. \u201cKlein used both of\u2064 his arms \u2063and his body to forcefully\u200b push against officers, including Officer Acquilino\u200b Gonell. As a result of \u200cKlein\u2019s \u2062and other rioters\u2019 pushing,\u200d one officer\u2063 fell to the ground,\u201d they continued.<\/p>\n<h2>Klein Had \u2018Top Secret Security Clearance\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Prosecutors further\u200d claimed that \u2063Mr. Klein took a stolen USCP riot shield and, \u201cwith \u2062the help of another rioter,<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>convicted.
