The amendment, proposed by \u2064Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL), aimed to require the Department \u200cof Transportation to \u2064<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-house-republicans-introduce-bill-to-better-measure-federal-debt\/\" title=\"EXCLUSIVE: House Republicans Introduce Bill To Better Measure Federal Debt\">provide reports<\/a> on Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg&#8217;s travel.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The amendment \u2064would\u200c have mandated that Congress receive \u2063reports containing the flight records of the Secretary\u2063 of Transportation for\u2062 any flight on an aircraft \u200downed by the Federal Aviation Administration in the three\u200c years prior to the enactment of \u200dthis Act.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Unfortunately, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/5-house-republicans-reveal-their-feelings-on-ousting-gop-conference-chair-liz-cheney\/\" title=\"5 House Republicans Reveal Their Feelings On Ousting GOP Conference Chair Liz Cheney\">vote failed<\/a>, with a majority of\u2062 Republicans opposing\u2063 the bill. Reps. Troy Balderson (R-OH), Jack Bergman (R-MI), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA),\u200b Garret Graves\u2062 (R-LA), Sam Graves (R-MO), David Joyce \u200d(R-OH), Jen\u2064 Kiggans (R-VA), Marc Molinaro (R-NY),\u200b and Brandon Williams (R-NY) were among the Republicans who voted against the amendment, joining 209 \u200dDemocrats.<\/p>\n<p>On the \u2064other hand, three Democrats, Reps. Yadira Caraveo\u2062 (D-CO), Ted Lieu (D-CA), and Katie Porter\u2064 (D-CA), sided with the remaining 213 Republicans \u2063who voted in favor of the amendment. Notably,\u200b five members of the House, three Democrats\u2062 and\u200b two Republicans, did \u200cnot cast a vote\u200d on the\u200b amendment.<\/p>\n<p>Following the vote,\u200d Rep. Balderson expressed his\u200c intention to change his vote to \u2062support the amendment:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;During \u2062a busy vote\u200c series \u200clate Wednesday night, Rep. Balderson \u2064inadvertently voted against Rep. Miller&#8217;s amendment to\u200c shed light on Secretary Buttigieg&#8217;s\u2062 superfluous\u2063 taxpayer-funded travel,&#8221; Balderson&#8217;s office tweeted on\u2062 Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Earlier this morning, \u200dRep. Balderson submitted \u2062paperwork to the Clerk of the House\u2063 to inform her that his intended vote was &#8216;AYE,&#8217; in\u2063 favor of government\u200c transparency and reining in \u2063out-of-control spending.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The amendment arose in \u200dresponse to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hostage-situation-leaves-2-dead-in-austin-texas\/\" title=\"Hostage situation leaves 2 dead in Austin, Texas\">reports suggesting<\/a> that Buttigieg has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republicans-cross-the-aisle-to-kill-pete-buttigieg-travel-transparency-amendment\/\" title=\"GOP members support Buttigieg travel transparency amendment\">utilized taxpayer-funded \u200dprivate jets<\/a> for travel on at least 18 occasions since assuming office in 2021. The Department of Transportation defended Buttigieg, stating that he primarily travels by commercial airline and emphasizes responsible use of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/in-nevada-a-corrupt-cash-for-votes-scheme-is-hiding-in-plain-sight\/\" title=\"In Nevada, A Corrupt Cash-For-Votes Scheme Is Hiding In Plain Sight\">taxpayer dollars<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The FAA reauthorization bill was ultimately passed by the House on Thursday, with a vote of 351 to 69.
