In years past, those people might have found themselves defenseless while in grave danger.<\/p>\n<p>That was \u200bnot the case in Greenwood, Mississippi, on Sunday, when a\u2064 man was almost the\u200c victim\u2063 of \u2063an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/education-group-reveres-black-panther-party-in-new-lesson-plan\/\" title=\"Education Group Reveres Black Panther Party In New Lesson Plan\">armed robbery<\/a>, police said.<\/p>\n<p>According to reports, a man whose identity has been withheld was walking down a street in the city when\u2062 he was \u200dapproached by Kyler Matthews,\u200d 18.<\/p>\n<p>The Leflore\u2008County Sheriff\u2019s\u2008Department said\u200b Matthews\u200c pulled \u200ba gun on the man and demanded money, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gwcommonwealth.com\/top-stories-local-content-crime\/18-year-old-shot-killed-robbery-attempt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Greenwood Commonwealth<\/a> reported Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The man happened to be \u201clawfully armed\u201d and on \u2062the way home from a trip to a convenience store\u2064 just after 4 p.m., authorities said.<\/p>\n<p>Bill Staten, a detective with the sheriff\u2019s department, explained\u2062 what happened to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/crime\/2023\/07\/18\/man-dies-after-pulling-gun-on-lawfully-armed-man-during-robbery-attempt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Breitbart News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cMatthews \u2062confronted him, asked him for a smoke or a \u2062cigarette lighter, \u200band the man \u200csaid he didn\u2019t have one,\u201d Staten said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>Do you think gun laws should be less strict?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Yes<\/li>\n<li>No<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cMatthews then turned away and turned back around suddenly\u200c and shoved a gun \u200din the\u200c guy\u2019s chest,\u201d \u200bhe said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe \u200dguy immediately reacted by pushing Matthews\u2019 gun away,\u201d the detective \u2062said.<\/p>\n<p>Staten said the quick-thinking \u2064and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/texas-rep-responds-mall-shooting-law-abiding-citizens-carry-know-defend\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">law-abiding<\/a> citizen then fired \u200bone shot \u2063at the 18-year-old that struck\u2062 him in\u2062 the shoulder.<\/p>\n<p>Matthews was taken to a local hospital, but he died there.<\/p>\n<p>Three years ago,\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gwcommonwealth.com\/news-policecourts-top-stories\/2-charged-conspiracy-commit-murder\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Greenwood Commonwealth<\/a> \u200creported that a 15-year-old Kyler Matthews\u2063 had been charged with \u201cconspiracy to \u2063<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/teen-winds-up-shot-dead-after-pulling-gun-on-lawfully-armed-man\/\" title=\"Teen fatally shot after brandishing gun at legally armed man.\">commit murder\u200d enhanced<\/a> by\u200d street \u200dgang association\u201d and other offenses.\u200d It\u2019s unknown whether he\u200b was convicted.<\/p>\n<p>The death of any young\u2063 person is \u2062a tragedy, \u200cbut it \u200cis unknown how far the alleged robbery attempt \u2062Sunday might have gone.<\/p>\n<p>A man\u2063 on his way home from a store could have ended up the person dead or injured.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/leftist-compassion-squad-moves-force-families-literally-live-criminals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Criminals<\/a> strike day and night, and they tend to choose victims they believe to be\u200c vulnerable.<\/p>\n<p>Those who live outside the law seek targets \u200bthey believe are not\u200b likely to be armed, physically strong, or aware of their surroundings.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, in many cases, women\u200c are victimized, as are seniors.<\/p>\n<p>In this\u2063 case, authorities say, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/felt-power-god-pastor-uses-prayer-thwart-alleged-robbery-attempt-sunday-service\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">robbery<\/a> attempt turned deadly \u2014 but for the perpetrator.
