You destroyed \u2063the planet with\u2062 your glorification of rampant consumerism \u2026 \u2062you fascist!<\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Suddenly, the \u201cBarbie\u201d tie-ins got a little more\u2026\u200d complicated. And that\u2019s before the movie skewers both Mattel, Inc. and its fictional CEO (Will Ferrell).<\/p>\n<p>This is hardly new from La La \u2064Land, a business where income inequality isn\u2019t a bug. It\u2019s the feature every\u2062 ingenue craves. You\u2019d think industry executives might\u2062 avoid that awkward anti-capitalist messaging at all costs (much like how \u200dclimate change activists fear their \u200bprivate \u2062jet addictions will be\u2063 exposed).<\/p>\n<p>And \u200byou\u2019d \u2062be flat-out wrong.<\/p>\n<p>Modern films go\u2062 out of their way to smite the rich and decry income\u200d inequality. \u200cThe stars inhabiting \u200dthose films \u200bjust so happen to be among the richest stars in the Hollywood\u2062 galaxy.<\/p>\n<p>Nothing to see here. Move along.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cBarbie\u201d film goes out\u2062 of its way to \u200bnot only trash consumerism, but the titular toy. And a vital character \u200ceven suggests we stop buying these \u201cfascist\u201d dolls of flawless white women. Yes, that\u2019s another word taken directly from the script to describe the plastic doll.<\/p>\n<p>This summer features another big-budget comedy with the wealthy in its crosshairs.<\/p>\n<p>The Jennifer Lawrence comedy \u201cNo Hard Feelings\u201d \u200dfinds the Oscar-winner smiting the \u2064rich early and often. She plays\u200c a bitter, broke woman named Maggie who decides to sleep \u2063with a younger man for a quick payday, courtesy of a\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bears-eat-star-athlete-rich-tourist-couple-after-helicopter-crash-in-rugged-wilderness\/\" title=\"Bears Eat Star Athlete, Rich Tourist Couple After Helicopter Crash In Rugged Wilderness\">wealthy couple<\/a> \u200cwho can buy \u200cjust about\u2062 anything.<\/p>\n<p>Gross, right?<\/p>\n<p>Not to Maggie. \u200dShe\u2019d rather do that than \u200cbe part \u2064of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/prageru-nikki-haley-explains-why-capitalism-wins\/\" title=\"PragerU: Nikki Haley Explains Why \u2018Capitalism Wins\u2019\">capitalist system<\/a>. Lawrence\u2019s\u2064 character spends serious screen\u2064 time trashing \u2063the rich. She\u2019s drowning in debt and resents\u2063 the wealthy Long \u200cIsland residents \u2064keeping the local economy humming.<\/p>\n<p>Her moral compass is pure, or at least she thinks it is.<\/p>\n<p>Maggie all but\u200d spits \u200bin a wealthy bar customer\u2019s face\u200d early in\u2063 the film. His crime? \u2064He\u2019s rich, and he asked for a \u200cdrink minutes before the\u2063 bar officially opened.<\/p>\n<p>None of this was an accident. Director Gene Stupnitsky says he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gq.com\/story\/jennifer-lawrence-no-hard-feelings-raunchy-comedy-beach-scene\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">embraced\u2064 the anti-wealthy angle<\/a> to\u200b add gravitas to the story, hoping it wouldn\u2019t overwhelm the narrative.<\/p>\n<p>The ultimate irony? The aggressively liberal Lawrence fought hard to snag a <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/no-hard-feelings-jennifer-lawrence-salary\/#:~:text=Jennifer%20Lawrence%27s%20No%20Hard%20Feelings%20Salary%20Was%20Reportedly%20%2425%20Million\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">multi-million dollar paycheck<\/a> to star in the film. \u2064Did she fight just \u2063as hard to make sure her co-stars\u2063 got an equally\u200b large\u2062 paycheck, \u2062or \u200dat least \u200cone larger than the studio initially offered? Talk about income\u200c inequality! So much privilege.<\/p>\n<p>Last year saw two celebrated films\u200c similarly assault the rich.<\/p>\n<p>The\u2064 superior \u200cfilm \u201cThe Menu\u201d \u200bfeatured Ralph Fiennes as a chef who\u2063 invites wealthy diners to savor his revolutionary cuisine. The assorted\u200d guests, including far-left actor John Leguizamo, are portrayed as mostly shallow souls eager to climb the societal ladder.<\/p>\n<p>The chef has more on his mind than keeping the dishes fresh and warm, and\u200c the story soon takes a \u200dhorrific turn.<\/p>\n<p>The mockery is \u200brelentless, although the film proved one of the sturdier\u2064 awards \u2064season\u200c entries and didn\u2019t get lost in its agenda.<\/p>\n<p>The same can\u2019t be said for \u201cTriangle of Sadness,\u201d the Best Picture nominee that scorches\u2063 the elite early and often. The film\u2019s first half is brilliant, and even Donald\u2063 Trump might chuckle at its social \u200cX-ray of the fatuous elites.<\/p>\n<p>A group of ultra-wealthy souls gather for an extravagant cruise, but they\u2019re left to \u2063fend for themselves when \u2064a storm\u2064 overwhelms the boat.<\/p>\n<p>The moment Woody\u200b Harrelson enters\u200b the frame as\u2063 the ship\u2019s combative captain, sadly, the film\u2019s agenda overwhelms the story. The satire\u2019s second half is a\u200c dud\u2063 with income inequality notes and a \u200dstorytelling detour that sinks the \u200binitially impressive tale.<\/p>\n<p>Conservatives rallied around \u200dHarrelson for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/woody-harrelson-said-he-wasnt-fazed-by-backlash-from-snl-monologue-i-dont-look-at-that-s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">defying COVID-19\u2064 groupthink<\/a>, but hearing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hollywood-elites-mock-capitalism-smite-the-rich-in-slew-of-new-films\/\" title=\"Hollywood elites scorn capitalism, target wealthy in new movies.\">ultra-wealthy star \u2064praise socialism<\/a> in the film may be tough to swallow.<\/p>\n<p>HBO\u2019s \u201cThe White Lotus\u201d series similarly deconstructs how the rich and famous spend their leisure\u2062 time. Show creator \u200bMike White does\u200c so with \u2062a gimlet eye \u2063for\u2062 hypocrisy and a greater sense of cultural balance. He\u2019s willing to torch the rich while mocking those \u200dwho attack them without earning \u2063their slice of the financial pie.<\/p>\n<p>The show\u2019s first season showcases embittered Gen \u2064Z types \u2014 Olivia Mossbacher (Sydney Sweeney) \u200cand her pal Paula (Brittany O\u2019Grady) \u2014 as \u2063they smirk \u2063their way\u200c through paradise.<\/p>\n<p>Do they appreciate the sacrifices the Mossbachers made to \u200dget them \u200dto Maui or the endless work that gave them the \u2064chance for a once-in-a-lifetime\u200d trip like this? Of \u200dcourse not.<\/p>\n<p>The two have little \u200bempathy for \u2062anyone other than themselves. Later in the season, Paula\u2064 cracks the parents\u2019 safe to help a\u200c resort\u200d worker, but it hardly feels\u200c like a charitable move.<\/p>\n<p>The best \u2064\u201ceat the \u2064rich\u201d satire \u2064in recent memory may be\u2062 HBO\u2019s\u200c just-wrapped \u201cSuccession.\u201d The celebrated drama showed the rich and famous brawling over power, fame,\u2063 and family dynamics. The show drew near-universal acclaim despite its not-so-veiled attack on families like the conservative-leaning Murdoch clan.<\/p>\n<p>Hollywood understandably loves to tweak the rich. Heck, many elites\u200d bring it\u200b on\u200c themselves, and great writers have famously toyed\u2064 with excess in\u200b profound ways. F.
