He pleaded guilty to \u200cobstructing an official proceeding and was sentenced to 41 months\u200b in prison\u2063 in November 2021.<\/p>\n<p>However, after serving 27 months, Chansley&#8217;s sentence was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/judge-rejects-bid-to-vacate-jan-6-conviction-from-qanon-shaman\/\" title=\"Judge denies request to overturn conviction of 'QAnon Shaman' for Jan. 6 incident.\">cut \u2062short due<\/a> to the emergence of the security footage, which\u200c was aired by former Fox\u2064 News host Tucker Carlson.<\/p>\n<h3>Attorney&#8217;s Bid for Case Withdrawal<\/h3>\n<p>Chansley&#8217;s attorney, \u200bWilliam\u2064 Shipley, submitted \u2062a bid to withdraw \u200cand dismiss the case, arguing that the \u200cfootage would have been favorable to his client during sentencing. Shipley stated, &#8220;We \u200dstill believe the\u2062 government has\u200b not provided a sufficient justification in \u200bthat regard.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Judge Rejects Motion<\/h3>\n<p>U.S. District\u200c Judge Royce Lamberth, however, \u200bdenied the motion in a 35-page opinion, stating that Chansley&#8217;s claims\u200b were without merit. Lamberth emphasized that Chansley&#8217;s acceptance of responsibility played a significant role in his sentencing.<\/p>\n<p>Lamberth also criticized\u200d the Capitol security footage \u200baired on Carlson&#8217;s program, calling it &#8220;replete with misstatements \u2064and misrepresentations&#8221; about the\u2063 events of \u2064January 6th. \u200dDespite this, the judge acknowledged the evidence presented.<\/p>\n<h3>Controversial Footage Release<\/h3>\n<p>Carlson released the footage\u200b after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy granted him\u2062 exclusive access to 40,000 hours of video \u200dfrom that day. \u200cThe tapes showed Chansley being seemingly\u2064 assisted by Capitol Police officers, leading Carlson to \u2063suggest that Chansley believed they were his allies.<\/p>\n<p>Chansley initially apologized after pleading guilty to his involvement in the Capitol riot, but he recently\u2062 expressed regret for his \u200dplea after being released from \u200dprison early.<\/p>\n<p><em>Ryan Saavedra contributed to this report.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A judge rejected Jacob Chansley&#8217;s request to overturn his January 6 conviction.
