Admissions Data Suggest Otherwise.\">law school&#8217;<\/a>s dean,\u2064 said in <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Steinbach-out.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an email<\/a> \u200bon Thursday. &#8220;Although Associate\u2063 Dean Steinbach intended \u2063to \u200bde-escalate the tense situation when she spoke at the March\u2063 9 event, she recognizes that the impact of her statements was not \u200cas \u2062she hoped or intended.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Steinbach had \u200cseized the podium from Kyle Duncan, a \u2064judge on\u2064 the Fifth \u200dCircuit Court of Appeals, and, in\u2062 a video that went viral on social media,\u200b lambasted the conservative jurist for causing\u200c &#8220;harm.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Do you have something \u2062so incredibly important to say,&#8221; she asked, that it\u2064 is worth the &#8220;division\u2064 of these people?&#8221; \u2063She went on \u2063to tell him that he had\u2064 to weigh whether the\u200c &#8220;juice [was] worth the squeeze.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Steinbach also commended the \u2062hecklers\u2014one of whom allegedly told Duncan, &#8220;We hope your daughters\u200b get\u200d raped&#8221;\u2014telling the students \u200bthat she was &#8220;glad&#8221; to\u200c see the protest happening. In a conversation with students after the event, she <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/campus\/student-activists-target-stanford-law-school-dean-in-revolt-over-her-apology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">laid<\/a> \u2064 the blame for the meltdown entirely at Duncan&#8217;s feet.<\/p>\n<p>The incident was one\u200c of several dust-ups in recent years that have forced elite schools to confront the\u200d culture of intolerance fostered by their diversity bureaucrats. In \u2062October 2021, for example, Yale Law School found itself \u2063doing damage control after administrators were caught on\u200d tape <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/campus\/a-yale-law-student-sent-a-lighthearted-email-inviting-classmates-to-his-trap-house-the-school-is-now-calling-him-to-account\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pressuring<\/a> a law student to apologize for\u200c a lighthearted email that referred to his apartment as a &#8220;trap\u200c house.&#8221; One of \u200dthe administrators, Yaseen \u2062Eldik, was\u200b eventually reassigned \u200bto a different role. The other, \u2064Ellen Cosgrove, <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/campus\/trap-house-dean-retires-from-yale-law-school\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">took\u200b an early retirement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Though\u2064 Martinez\u2063 did not say outright Steinbach had been fired, her \u200demail implied that Stanford forced the diversity dean \u200dout over the Duncan event. &#8220;Both Dean Steinbach and Stanford\u2063 recognize ways they could have done better in \u2064addressing the very \u200bchallenging situation, including \u200bpreparing\u2063 for protests, ensuring university protocols are understood, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/stanford-law-school-ousts-diversity-dean-who-egged-on-protest-of-federal-judge\/\" title=\"Stanford Law School removes Diversity Dean for encouraging protest against Federal Judge.\">helping administrators \u2062navigate tensions<\/a> when they arise,&#8221; \u2062Martinez\u200c wrote.\u2064 &#8220;There are opportunities for growth and learning\u2064 all around.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Minutes after the email went out, Steinbach wrote to the \u2062school separately to address her departure. &#8220;The \u200bhonor I feel to have held this role,&#8221; she said, \u200b&#8221;is undiminished by the circumstances surrounding\u200c the event with Judge Duncan.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stopthebigboxbaitandswitch.com\/?utm_source=freebeacon&#038;utm_medium=advertising&#038;utm_campaign=2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stopthebigboxbaitandswitch.com\/?utm_source=freebeacon&#038;utm_medium=advertising&#038;utm_campaign=2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Steinbach&#8217;s ouster comes after months of pressure on the school \u200bto take a harder line on free speech. Duncan himself <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/campus\/dogshit-federal-judge-decries-disruption-of-his-remarks-by-stanford-law-students-and-calls-for-termination-of-the-stanford-dean-who-joined-the-protesters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">called on \u2062Stanford<\/a> to fire Steinbach\u2014saying she \u200bhad subjected him \u2064to a\u2062 &#8220;bizarre \u2063therapy session from \u2064hell&#8221;\u2014and two circuit court \u2064judges, James Ho and Elizabeth \u2063Branch, announced in\u200c April that they would no <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/federal-judge-says-he-wont-hire-clerks-from-yale-law-urges-other-judges-to-join\/\" title=\"Federal Judge Says He Won\u2019t Hire Clerks From Yale Law, Urges Other Judges To Join\">longer hire clerks<\/a> from Stanford Law pending &#8220;meaningful, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/stanford-law-school-promised-free-speech-training-it-delivered-a-campus-joke\/\" title=\"Stanford Law School pledged free speech training but ended up with a campus joke.\">lasting institutional change<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Steinbach is not the only bureaucrat to depart Stanford this week.
