Kennedy Jr.\u2019s \u2062testimony in the\u2062 committee\u2019s\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=qqFKzM8XXX4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hearing<\/a> on censorship\u200c Thursday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Early in the proceedings, Florida\u200b Democrat \u200bRep. Debbie Wasserman \u200bSchultz introduced a motion \u200cto move the hearing into an\u2062 \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/cha.house.gov\/about\/rules-committee-house-administration-118th-congress\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">executive\u2064 session<\/a>\u201d \u2014 indicating that Kennedy\u2019s testimony would be likely to \u201cdefame, degrade, or incriminate\u201d \u2014 and transfer \u2062testimony to behind closed doors. Wasserman Schultz cited recent controversial <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/07\/15\/rfk-jr-says-covid-was-ethnically-targeted-to-spare-jews\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">comments<\/a> by Kennedy claiming the novel Wuhan coronavirus \u2064may have been \u201cethnically targeted\u201d to \u201cattack \u200cCaucasians\u2064 and black\u2062 people\u201d more than \u200d\u201cJews and Chinese people.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-144022552\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2978a56baf4c2d8829afee540817dc8a fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2978a56baf4c2d8829afee540817dc8a\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cMr. Kennedy has repeatedly made despicable antisemitic and anti-Asian comments as recently as last week,\u201d the congresswoman said before she\u200b was interrupted by a rival motion \u200cto table. <\/p>\n<p>The Republican majority on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/how-racial-anxiety-conquered-an-orchestra-and-crushed-a-career\/\" title=\"How Racial Anxiety Conquered an Orchestra and Crushed a Career\">committee ultimately voted<\/a> to table Wasserman Schultz\u2019s \u200cmotion while \u2064Democrats opposed \u200cthe delay.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"> <span class=\"dyv6SHDKTO4pxmRJgGQ5CzPUuWjZA0N79iIErVlwhtMXc2Yqnk3febLFaB\"><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">House Democrats voted to\u200d censor RFK Jr \u200dduring a hearing on censorship\u200c at which he was invited to speak <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/tsw8ETMydL\">pic.twitter.com\/tsw8ETMydL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The\u2063 Post Millennial (@TPostMillennial) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TPostMillennial\/status\/1682027684178821121?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 20, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/span> <\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Wasserman Schultz\u2019s failed effort to censor Kennedy\u2019s testimony \u2063followed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/democrats-urge-republicans-to-rescind-robert-f-kennedy-jr-invivation-to-testify\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">demands<\/a> from \u2063House Democrats that Republicans rescind Kennedy\u2019s invitation to \u2064testify altogether. Kennedy was invited to testify at the censorship \u200chearing after the \u200crecent <em>Missouri v. Biden<\/em> lawsuit <a href=\"https:\/\/s3.documentcloud.org\/documents\/23867004\/08917380420.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">noted<\/a> he was part of a group of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-try-to-censor-robert-f-kennedy-jr-at-hearing-on-censorship\/\" title=\"Democrats attempt to silence Robert F. Kennedy Jr. during censorship hearing.\">social media users \u2014\u200b dubbed<\/a> by federal officials the \u201cdisinformation dozen\u201d \u2014\u200d whose \u200bposts bureaucrats routinely\u200c flagged for censorship.<\/p>\n<p>Without a \u200cformal measure to censor the Democratic primary candidate, \u2064Democrats on the weaponization committee interrupted Kennedy multiple times before lawmakers\u2064 even convened their first recess. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-b4910244a2a38a8c1e7d857f80078280 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-b4910244a2a38a8c1e7d857f80078280\"><\/div>\n<p>The Democrats\u2019 ranking member \u2062on the\u2063 committee, Virgin Islands Delegate Stacey Plaskett,\u2062 cut into Kennedy\u2019s opening statement to complain the witness went \u200cover time. Witnesses are \u201cusually\u201d given five minutes for an opening statement,\u2063 but Kennedy\u2019s lasted for more than 10. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re\u2062 pretty relaxed \u2064with this,\u201d explained GOP Chairman Jim Jordan of Ohio, noting that witnesses often take the time they need for opening statements. <\/p>\n<p>Plaskett bizarrely\u200d suggested Jordan \u201cthreaten the witness so\u200d that they can\u200b not want to be a witness.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"> <span class=\"31briOAhMBDOJAxpSwPwR0nKTHGZj87CUBEQF44iDCLN5lSfWuYck7GzrMlhRLIP58f\"><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Rep.\u2063 Plaskett didn&#8217;t like RFK\u200b Jr.\u2062 was given ten minutes for his opening statement and wanted him to have the standard five minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. At one point you say I\u2019m anti-vax, and that\u2019s a bad\u2064 thing. The other moment you point out that all my children are vaxxed. I\u2019m fully compliant with the vaccine schedule myself, except for Covid. \u2026 I have never told the public to avoid\u200d vaccination.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While Kennedy refuted Plaskett\u2019s\u2064 claims, the ranking member interrupted the candidate and drew \u2064accusations from Republicans on the panel of censoring the witness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not censoring him,\u201d Plaskett insisted.<\/p>\n<p>The House weaponization \u2063committee planned \u200dThursday\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/judiciary.house.gov\/committee-activity\/hearings\/hearing-weaponization-federal-government-3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hearing <\/a>to \u201cexamine\u2064 the federal government\u2019s\u2062 role in censoring Americans, \u2064the <em>Missouri v. Biden<\/em> case, and Big Tech\u2019s collusion with out-of-control government agencies to silence speech.\u201d In addition to Kennedy, the witness panel features Breitbart journalist Emma-Jo Morris\u200d and Special Assistant\u2064 Attorney General D. John Sauer\u2064 of Louisiana testifying about the\u2062 government\u2019s\u2064 abusive censorship regime. <\/p>\n<p>Since the probe was \u200destablished at the start\u200d of the new Congress this year, the House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government has focused on \u200cthe government\u2019s efforts\u200d to collude with\u2062 Silicon Valley tech \u200bgiants to censor American speech. Democrats on the committee exposed their\u200b open disregard for free speech in the committee\u2019s second hearing four months ago \u2062that featured two\u2063 journalists behind the\u200c \u201cTwitter Files,\u201d Substack reporters <a href=\"https:\/\/substack.com\/profile\/263053-matt-taibbi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Matt Taibbi<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/public.substack.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Michael Shellenberger<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, the weaponization panel published a preliminary report\u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/07\/11\/report-fbi-colluded-with-russian-infiltrated-agency-in-ukraine-to-censor-americans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">exposing<\/a> the FBI\u2019s collaboration with a \u2063Russian-infiltrated intelligence agency in Ukraine to flag online posts for censorship. Among those targeted for censorship were the accounts of an American \u200djournalist and a verified profile run by the U.S. State\u2062 Department. <\/p>\n<p>The Biden\u200c administration \u2063is\u2062 currently <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/07\/18\/biden-administration-rushes-appeal-against-court-ruling-in-effort-to-keep-censorship-regime-intact\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">appealing<\/a> the injunction \u2064handed down by a federal judge last month in <em>Missouri v. Biden<\/em> at the center of Thursday\u2019s hearing.
