Their\u2062 message is clear: racial discrimination is not only morally wrong, but it is also illegal.<\/p>\n<p>The attorneys general argue that discrimination based on \u2064skin color is\u200d a common practice among America&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/ranking\/fortune500\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">largest<\/a> companies. However, both\u2062 state and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/13-ags-put-corporations-on-notice-after-affirmative-action-ruling-no-more-racial-discrimination\/\" title=\"13 Attorneys General Warn Corporations: End Racial Discrimination\">federal laws \u200dexplicitly prohibit<\/a> such discriminatory practices.<\/p>\n<p>They provide evidence, citing various <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-usa-race-hiring-idUSKCN25F2SY\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reports<\/a>, that racial quotas and other race-based practices have been adopted by major companies\u200b in recruitment, hiring, promotion,\u200d and contracting. This includes well-known companies like Airbnb, Apple, Cisco, Facebook, Google, Intel, Lyft, Microsoft, Netflix, Paypal, Snapchat, TikTok, Uber, and others.<\/p>\n<p>The attorneys general attribute their letter to the recent Supreme Court decision in <em>Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard<\/em>, which clarified that race-based admissions and so-called benign explanations for discrimination violate the law.\u200c They also reference\u2062 Title VII of\u2064 the Civil Rights Act and other court decisions that ban racial discrimination in the workplace and contracting.<\/p>\n<p>The letter serves as a warning\u2062 to companies, urging them to immediately cease any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrat-ags-push-back-after-scotus-ruling-say-they-will-support-corporate-dei-efforts\/\" title=\"Democrat AGs vow to back corporate DEI efforts following SCOTUS ruling.\">unlawful race-based quotas<\/a> or preferences. The attorneys general emphasize that failure to do so will result in accountability for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/justice-jackson-is-wrong-the-u-s-constitution-does-forbid-government-from-racial-discrimination\/\" title=\"Justice Jackson Is Wrong - the U.S. Constitution Does Forbid Government From Racial Discrimination\">treating people differently based<\/a>\u2063 on their skin color.<\/p>\n<p>Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach explains that the\u2063 letter puts the responsibility on companies to\u200b address\u200d their own practices and determine if they are discriminating against applicants or subcontractors based on race. He believes that companies should have \u2064the opportunity to make corrections following the Supreme Court decision.<\/p>\n<p>While the\u200b letter does not address potential conflicts with \u200cleft-wing ESG <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/28\/the-esg-scam-rates-slave-using-chinese-firms-higher-than-clean-american-energy-producers\/\">standards<\/a>, Kobach emphasizes that corporations should prioritize compliance with the law. He acknowledges the hypothetical implications\u2064 of investors questioning governance\u200c but asserts that legal compliance should be the primary concern.<\/p>\n<p>Consumer&#8217;s Research Executive Director\u2064 Will Hild supports the attorneys general&#8217;s letter, emphasizing the importance of corporations serving their\u200d customers while following the law.
