This marks a rare bipartisan effort to focus on government transparency and\u200b national security.\u2063 Lawmakers have been\u2063 frustrated by\u200c the U.S.\u200c government&#8217;s refusal to disclose information on UFOs, and this hearing\u2063 aims \u2062to address that issue.<\/p>\n<h3>A Bipartisan Effort for Transparency<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;There are a lot of people who don&#8217;t want this to come\u200d to life,&#8221; said Rep. Tim Burchett \u2062(R-TN). &#8220;This is\u2063 ridiculous,\u2063 folks. They either do exist or\u200d they don&#8217;t exist. \u2064They keep telling us they don&#8217;t exist, but they block every opportunity for us to get a \u200bhold of the information to prove that they do exist. And we&#8217;re gonna get to the bottom of it, whatever the truth may be.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Burchett is leading this bipartisan effort alongside \u200cReps. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), Jared Moskowitz (D-FL), and Eric Burlison (R-MO). Each of them has highlighted\u200d how\u200d previous attempts to \u2064investigate UFOs and \u200dtheir \u200dpotential threats to national security have been obstructed \u200dby government agencies.<\/p>\n<p>During a \u2064meeting with the Air Force \u200bearlier this year, \u2063Reps. Burchett and Luna were denied access to whistleblower testimonies and other materials related to UFO sightings. &#8220;We went down there, we were stonewalled,&#8221;\u2064 Luna\u200c said. &#8220;They would not give us access to testimony from \u200csome of \u200cthe pilots. They were hiding images and information.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Lawmakers have also expressed concerns about \u200bthe lack of information provided by U.S. officials and the pressure exerted\u200c by the Pentagon on whistleblowers \u2062who were scheduled to testify before Congress.<\/p>\n<h3>Focusing on Government \u200cTransparency and Accountability<\/h3>\n<p>The witness testimonies and the \u2063withholding of information by U.S. \u2062officials \u2064have raised concerns among lawmakers not \u2063only about national security but also about government transparency and \u200daccountability. These issues will\u2062 be the focal \u2064point of the upcoming hearing. Additionally,\u200d lawmakers plan to introduce legislation\u200d that would require the \u200bfederal government to disclose \u200binformation about UFOs, building on previous efforts to\u2063 make investigative findings available to the public.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Burchett attempted to include an amendment \u200dto the\u200d Federal Aviation Administration reauthorization being considered by \u2063Congress this week. \u200bThe amendment would \u2064have mandated the FAA to \u200breport\u200d any UFO \u200dsightings by\u2063 commercial pilots to Congress. Unfortunately, the measure did\u2062 not make it to the floor for a vote, with Burchett claiming that the intelligence community shut\u200c it down.<\/p>\n<h3>Seeking Answers and Ensuring National Security<\/h3>\n<p>This latest effort comes\u2063 after Congress directed the Defense Department to establish \u200dthe \u2064All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office in 2022 to investigate reported UFO sightings. However, the government has not made its findings public, \u200cleading to outcry from\u2064 lawmakers who argue \u2062that this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-rare-target-bridging-partisan-divide-in-congress-ufos\/\" title=\"Congress finds rare common ground on UFOs.\">secrecy poses national security risks<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Are they domestic? Are\u200c they foreign? Are they something else? Or\u2063 do they \u2064not\u2064 exist?&#8221;\u2062 questioned Rep. Moskowitz. &#8220;The \u200dgovernment \u2062needs to have straight answers. The American people deserve to know \u200cthe truth\u200d on\u2064 this. Unnecessarily censoring things or \u200boverclassification \u200bis what\u200c leads to all \u2062of these theories that \u200dhave been\u2062 out there.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The hearing, scheduled for Wednesday, will \u2062feature testimony\u200c from three witnesses:\u2062 Ryan Graves, executive director of Americans for Safe Aerospace; retired Cmdr. David Fravor, former commanding officer for the U.S. Navy; and David \u200dGrusch, former national reconnaissance office\u2063 representative of \u2064the Unidentified Anomalous \u2063Phenomena Task Force \u200dat the Department of Defense.<\/p>\n<p>This meeting is expected to be one of several focused on UFOs, with lawmakers considering field \u2063hearings at the \u2062locations where \u2062UFO\u200d sightings have occurred.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Are we okay with \u200cthe federal \u2064government keeping information from the\u2063 American people\u200b because\u2063 they&#8217;re \u200btrying to \u2064prevent us from having anxiety\u2063 on all sorts of issues?&#8221;\u200c asked Rep. Moskowitz. &#8220;The idea that the \u2064human brain can&#8217;t tolerate that there might \u200bbe life\u2064 somewhere else \u2014 I just \u2063don&#8217;t accept that.
