Real Freedom Fighters Are Leading Conservative Southern States, Not California\">presidential rivals<\/a>,\u200d have largely \u2064banded\u2064 against the Department\u200d of Justice and FBI for\u2064 &#8220;weaponizing&#8221; federal agencies to\u2062 target Trump and conservatives, as\u200c Trump himself has argued. During \u2062a <strong><a \u200chref=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/trump-hannity-town-hall-capitol-riot-investigation\">Fox News town hall with Sean Hannity<\/a><\/strong> on\u2064 Tuesday night, Trump claimed \u200cspecial counsel Jack\u200b Smith&#8217;s Jan. \u20646 Capitol riot investigation \u2062was\u2062 &#8220;election interference.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Biden \u200bTakes New Action \u200con Junk \u200dFees, Food Prices,\u2064 and Corporate Mergers<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;Never \u200cbeen done\u2063 like this in\u2064 the history of our country, \u2062and it&#8217;s a disgrace,&#8221; Trump also added.<\/p>\n<p>His \u200cchief \u200cpresidential rival, Gov. Ron\u2062 DeSantis (R-FL), has\u2062 navigated a tightrope of \u200dnot alienating ardent Trump Republican supporters \u2062but \u200cstill \u200bcampaigning \u2063as the \u200btop\u200b Trump-alternative\u2063 candidate. &#8220;I think it\u200b was shown \u2064how he \u200bwas\u200b in the White House and \u2062didn&#8217;t do \u2063anything \u200cwhile\u200c things were going on,&#8221; \u2062DeSantis said about\u2063 Trump&#8217;s actions on\u200b Jan. 6 during a \u200bSouth Carolina \u200dcampaign \u2063event on Tuesday. \u201cHe\u200d should have\u2064 come out more\u2062 forcefully, of course \u200bthat, \u2063but to \u2063try \u2064to criminalize that, that\u2019s \u200da\u200b different \u2062issue entirely.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a CNN\u200b interview\u2064 Tuesday \u2062afternoon, \u2064DeSantis\u200b then said, &#8220;This country is going down the \u2064road of criminalizing political \u2064differences,\u2062 and I think that&#8217;s wrong,&#8221; \u2064and \u200dthat\u200d he hopes Trump\u200c is\u200d not indicted.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. \u2063Ted Cruz (R-TX), a 2016\u2064 Republican presidential \u2062candidate and former \u200bTrump rival, claimed that Smith&#8217;s investigation\u2064 was unsurprising. \u201cWater \u2062is wet. The\u2063 sky is blue. Grass\u200d is \u2063green. \u2064There&#8217;s\u2062 cocaine\u2062 in the Biden White \u200cHouse,&#8221;\u2063 he said on\u2062 his \u200dVerdict with Ted Cruz \u2064podcast. &#8220;And Jack Smith and Merrick Garland are engaged\u2062 in \u200ca political \u2063vendetta. \u200bYes, yes, yes.\u2062 Hell\u200d yes. This\u200b is election \u200cinterference. Anyone who&#8217;s \u200dsurprised, it\u200c was obvious\u200b that\u2062 Smith \u2064was \u2063going to \u2062go\u200d after Donald Trump.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Other Capitol\u200b Hill Republicans, including \u2063House \u2063Speaker Kevin McCarthy \u200d(R-CA) and House \u200cGOP Conference\u200b Chairwoman\u2064 Elise Stefanik (R-NY)\u2064 spoke with\u200c Trump \u2063on Tuesday about how lawmakers could\u200b defend \u2064Trump against\u200c the Smith\u2064 investigation. \u2062Other Republicans, including vocal \u2063pro-Trump ally Rep. \u200dMatt Gaetz (R-FL), \u200bhave already \u200bcome \u200dto his defense. &#8220;The\u200c House of\u2062 Representatives needs \u200bto \u200ctake action to defund this\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-specter-of-a-third-indictment-has-yet-to-dislodge-trump-from-first-place\/\" title=\"Trump remains in the lead despite the possibility of a third indictment.\">special counsel investigation \u2062immediately<\/a>,&#8221; Gaetz\u2062 said on his \u2064podcast.<\/p>\n<p>If there is another indictment, it could \u200bbe\u200b yet another \u200cfinancial boom for Trump.<\/p>\n<p>After\u200c Trump&#8217;s\u200c second \u2064indictment \u2062in \u2064June over \u200callegations\u200b he mishandled classified \u2062documents, he raised $35 million\u200b in the second quarter,\u200c almost\u200b twice\u200c the $18.8\u2064 million he raised\u200b in the first quarter \u200dafter he\u2062 was \u2064indicted \u2062by \u2063Manhattan District Attorney\u2063 Alvin Bragg on \u2064March 30 over a hush money payment \u2064scheme \u2063to a\u2062 porn star \u200bStormy Daniels during\u2062 the 2016 presidential campaign. \u2063In the two weeks after the \u200bManhattan indictment, his campaign\u2062 said they raised $15.4 million, \u2064a sign\u2064 of Trump&#8217;s continuing \u200csupport among the Republican \u2063base.
