This\u200b decision comes\u200c after\u200b a new\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/5-disturbing-findings-from-planned-parenthoods-annual-report\/\" title=\"5 Disturbing Findings from Planned Parenthood\u2019s Annual Report\">document revealed<\/a> that the U.S. Department of \u200cHealth \u200dand Human \u200dServices \u200c(HHS) is cutting off\u2064 the\u2064 Wuhan Institute \u2063of Virology&#8217;s access \u200cto\u2064 U.S. grants.<\/p>\n<p> \u2063 <\/p>\n<p>In \u200b2014, \u2062the \u200bNational \u200cInstitute of Allergy and\u2062 Infectious Disease (NIAID) awarded \u2063a \u2064grant to \u200cEcoHealth \u200cAlliance, a\u200c U.S.-based nonprofit\u2063 focused\u2064 on\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/us-government-suspends-funding-to-wuhan-lab-over-risky-experiments\/\" title=\"US halts funding to Wuhan lab due to dangerous experiments.\">researching \u200cemerging infectious \u2063diseases<\/a>. The grant funded a project called &#8220;Understanding \u2063the\u2064 Risk of Bat \u2062Coronavirus Emergence,&#8221; which involved the Wuhan Institute of Virology \u2063(WIV). The WIV received\u2064 over $1.4 million \u2063in U.S. government funds for testing under \u2062this project, \u2062including \u2062experiments \u200cthat made a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/steve-hilton-report-dr-anthony-fauci-is-directly-responsible-with-funding-the-gain-of-function-studies-that-resulted-in-coronavirus-pandemic-video\/\" title=\"Steve Hilton Report: Dr. Anthony Fauci Is Directly Responsible with Funding the Gain-of-Function Studies that Resulted in Coronavirus Pandemic (VIDEO)\">bat coronavirus<\/a> \u2063more harmful.<\/p>\n<p>However, it \u2062was discovered that these experiments violated the terms \u2064of\u200d the grant. The\u200c HHS official stated that the WIV had been \u2063given\u200b opportunities to contest this conclusion but failed to do so. As a result, the immediate \u200csuspension of \u2063WIV is necessary to mitigate any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/emails-reveal-nih-officials-worried-about-gain-of-function-experiments-at-wuhan-lab\/\" title=\"Emails Reveal NIH Officials Worried About Gain-of-Function Experiments at Wuhan Lab\">potential public health risk<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u200d  <\/p>\n<h3>Temporary\u200b Suspension\u2062 and Potential Debarment<\/h3>\n<p> \u2062\u200b <\/p>\n<p>The suspension \u2064of funding is temporary,\u200d and officials are also considering debarment, which\u200b would cut \u200boff WIV&#8217;s access \u2063to\u2062 U.S. funding for a longer period. Debarment requires a higher evidentiary requirement\u200b of wrongdoing. Multiple\u200d bills\u200d have been proposed \u200bto permanently bar U.S. funding to the WIV, but they\u2063 have not yet\u2062 cleared \u200dCongress.<\/p>\n<p> \u2064 <\/p>\n<p>Lawmakers \u2062have raised \u2063concerns about risky \u2063research conducted at\u2063 the WIV\u200c and \u200dthe possibility that\u2064 the lab is\u200c the origin \u2063of the virus that causes COVID-19.\u200d The HHS decision is\u200b based \u2062on 26 documents,\u200b most of which\u200b were from \u200dJanuary 2022\u200d or \u2063earlier.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s \u2062past time that the\u2062 Biden administration \u200bmade this decision, but they \u2064deserve \u200cno credit \u2063for finally \u200cdoing what \u200bthe\u2063 evidence and \u200dfacts\u200c demanded. It is outrageous that it took them so long,&#8221; said Reps. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Brett Guthrie,\u2062 and Morgan Griffith \u2063in a joint \u2064statement.<\/p>\n<p> \u2064 <\/p>\n<p>After receiving \u200ca notice of \u2064proposed \u2062debarment,\u2064 the WIV \u2062will have an opportunity to protest the \u2062proposal.
