The CDC&#8217;s \u200cguidance suggests that transgender people\u200c can breastfeed children \u2064and even \u200drecommends \u2063medication for \u200clactation.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u2063 the \u200dCDC, \u2062transgender and non<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/unhinged-obgyn-insists-not-everyone-who-has-a-baby-is-a-woman\/\" title=\"Unconventional OBGYN asserts not all baby-havers are women.\">-binary\u2064 individuals<\/a> &#8220;may give birth and breastfeed\u2062 or\u2063 feed \u200dat\u200c the \u2063chest\u2062 (chestfeed).&#8221; The agency has also published \u200dinformation stating that\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/did-norway-just-criminalize-misgendering-a-trans-person-even-in-private-homes\/\" title=\"Did Norway Just Criminalize \u2018Misgendering\u2019 a Trans Person, Even in Private Homes?\">transgender individuals<\/a>\u2064 can \u200ctake medication\u200c to induce lactation in \u200border to breastfeed\u200b infants. On July 13, Senators Roger\u200c Marshall \u2063(R-Kans.) and Bill \u2064Cassidy\u2064 (R-La.) expressed their \u2062concerns in a letter, criticizing\u2062 the\u200d CDC&#8217;s &#8220;chestfeeding&#8221; \u200dguidance.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am writing \u200dto you\u2064 with \u200cserious concern about the\u2062 Centers \u200cfor Disease Control and\u2062 Prevention&#8217;s\u200c (CDC) guidance\u2062 for\u200d biological\u2064 men who identify \u2064as women\u200c (transgender individuals) \u200bwho wish to\u2064 breastfeed,&#8221; said the senators, both of whom\u200d hold a doctor of \u2063medicine (M.D.)\u2064 certification.<\/p>\n<p>The \u200cletter, addressed to CDC director \u2063Mandy \u200bCohen, highlights that \u2063the U.S. \u2064Food\u2064 and Drug Administration \u200d(FDA) has not\u200c approved any \u2062medication to\u2062 increase <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/netflix-teases-hes-expecting-collection-days-after-apple-company-debuts-pregnant-man-emoji\/\" title=\"Netflix Teases \u2018He\u2019s Expecting\u2019 Collection Days After Apple company Debuts \u2018Pregnant Man\u2019 Emoji\">breast milk<\/a> supply. The two\u200d drugs \u200dcommonly \u2062used for this\u200d purpose, \u200cmetoclopramide and domperidone, come with significant risks\u200d and side \u200deffects.<\/p>\n<p>Metoclopramide and domperidone are actually intended for \u2062other health \u2062conditions\u200d and are used\u2062 off-label to boost \u200bmilk supply. However,\u200c the\u2063 FDA has \u200cwarned\u2063 about serious risks associated with\u200d using metoclopramide, \u2063as it\u200d can pass\u2063 into breast \u200bmilk and harm the\u200d baby. Similarly, the \u200cFDA has explicitly\u2063 warned against using domperidone \u200cfor raising milk \u2064supply due \u2064to safety concerns since 2004.<\/p>\n<p>In \u2062addition to potentially\u2063 harming the\u200d baby, these\u200b drugs\u2063 also \u200bhave side \u2062effects \u2062that can be harmful to\u200b the\u200d person consuming them.
