This election will have \u2063a significant impact on a\u2062 referendum \u2062that aims \u2063to codify abortion \u200drights into\u200d the Ohio\u2063 Constitution\u2064 in \u2062November.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n \u2062 <\/p>\n<p>\u201cRight now, \u200cOhio\u2019s \u2064Constitution has \u2062a giant \u2062\u2018FOR SALE\u2019\u2063 sign \u200con it,\u201d<\/p>\n<p> \u2063\u200d <\/p>\n<p>-\u200c Molly\u200d Smith, Protect Women\u200d Ohio<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Molly \u2063Smith, \u200da\u2063 board member of\u2063 the advocacy organization\u2064 Protect \u2064Women Ohio (PWO), \u200dexpressed\u200c her\u200d concerns\u200b about the situation. PWO \u200chas\u2062 launched a multimillion-dollar \u200cadvertising\u200d campaign \u200csupporting Issue 1 on the ballot, which\u200d seeks\u200c to \u2062change the percentage \u200cof votes required \u200bto \u2064amend \u2064the state&#8217;s Constitution.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n \u2063 <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOut-of-state special interest\u200b groups, like the ACLU, think \u200dthey can drop into Ohio\u2064 with their \u2064fat pockets \u200cand buy\u2063 their way\u200c into\u2062 our founding document \u2014 it\u2019s outrageous, and it must be stopped.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p> \u2064 <\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Molly\u200b Smith, Protect Women Ohio<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Pro-abortion rights activists\u2062 have successfully gathered \u2063the necessary signatures to put an \u200damendment on the Ohio Constitution\u2064 ballot. \u2063This \u2064amendment aims \u2064to\u2063 protect the \u2063right to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/joy-reid-retweets-claim-that-republicans-are-more-aligned-with-taliban-than-with-democrats\/\" title=\"Joy Reid Retweets Claim That Republicans Are More Aligned With Taliban Than With Democrats\">make reproductive decisions<\/a>, including \u200bcontraception, fertility treatment, miscarriage \u2064care,\u200b and abortion.\u200b It\u2062 also prevents \u200cthe\u200d legislature from \u200crestricting\u2063 abortion \u200cif\u2063 it\u200b is deemed necessary by \u2064the pregnant patient&#8217;s treating \u2063physician to\u2063 protect\u200d their life or health.<\/p>\n<p>In response to \u2063this \u2064ballot measure, the \u2062Ohio legislature has\u2063 called \u2064for a \u200dspecial election in\u2062 August \u200bto \u2062change the percentage of\u2062 votes required\u2063 to\u2063 amend \u200cthe\u2063 Ohio Constitution from\u200b a simple\u200d majority to\u200d a\u200d minimum\u200c of 60% of\u200b voters.<\/p>\n<p>PWO,\u200d a self-described \u201cpro-woman, pro-parent, \u200dand <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-real-work-begins-after-roe-v-wade-is-overturned\/\" title=\"The Real Work Begins After Roe V Wade Is Overturned\">pro-life coalition<\/a>,\u201d was formed\u2064 to counterbalance the influence of\u200d Planned Parenthood and the \u200cACLU. \u2062PWO\u2062 claims that \u200bboth organizations are using out-of-state \u2063lobbying funds to\u200d support the \u200dcampaign\u2062 and maintain \u200cthe simple majority \u200damendment\u200c process while \u200ccodifying \u200cabortion \u200daccess.<\/p>\n<p>PWO\u200b has invested $5 million in opposing Planned Parenthood and the \u200cACLU. \u2064They argue \u200cthat\u2063 these organizations \u2062advocate \u200dfor\u2062 including \u200dgender transition medicine as part of comprehensive\u200c reproductive care. PWO&#8217;s latest ad, \u200dtitled &#8220;Caught,&#8221; highlights\u200b tweets\u200c from both <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/abortion-foes-say-out-of-state-funds-are-influencing-ohio-constitutional-amendment\/\" title=\"Out-of-state funds accused of influencing Ohio constitutional amendment by abortion opponents.\">organizations \u200csupporting youth gender transition \u2064medicine<\/a> and\u2063 the removal of \u2064parental\u2063 consent for\u2063 transitions and abortions on\u2064 minors.<\/p>\n<p>PWO has also released \u200ca\u2064 30-second \u2064video commercial called &#8220;Your Promise,&#8221;\u2064 which cost $2 million to air on television.<\/p>\n<p>Planned Parenthood \u200dFederation of America and Planned\u200c Parenthood\u2063 Global\u200c had a combined advocacy \u2064budget \u2064of $74.8\u2063 million in\u2062 2022, spread \u200dacross multiple states \u2062and \u2062campaigns. Similarly, the national \u200bACLU had\u200c a\u200d legislative and\u200b legal operating\u200b budget\u200b of $121.37 million,\u2064 accounting \u2062for nearly 40% of its\u200b total expenditure.<\/p>\n<p>Pro-abortion rights \u200bgroups have pointed \u200cout\u2062 that out-of-state interests are \u200balso\u2062 funding\u2062 anti-abortion\u2063 advocacy in \u2064Ohio.
