poorly\u200b administered\u200d elections intensified<\/a> \u2064this\u2064 week\u200c when Michigan \u200bAttorney General Dana\u200d Nessel charged 16 Republican \u2063electors\u200b in\u2063 her state for participating in\u200d what \u2064she deemed \u200da \u201cfalse\u200b electors scheme.\u201d Defendants, all 55 years\u200c or older, each face \u200beight\u200c various conspiracy and forgery felony counts \u200dthat carry \u200da \u200csentence \u200cof five \u2064to 14 years\u200d in prison\u200b each.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe evidence will \u2062demonstrate \u200dthere was no \u2062legal authority for \u200dthe\u200c <a title=\"Trump enlists Capitol Hill allies to protect him before third indictment.\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-recruits-allies-on-capitol-hill-to-defend-him-ahead-of-third-indictment\/\">false\u2064 electors<\/a> to purport \u2062to\u2064 act as \u2018duly \u2064elected presidential electors\u2019 and\u2063 execute \u2063the \u2063<a title=\"16 individuals who falsely claimed to be electors for Donald Trump have been charged with felonies in Michigan.\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/16-pro-trump-false-electors-charged-with-felonies-in-michigan\/\">false electoral documents<\/a>,\u201d\u200c Nessel, an <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/dananessel\/status\/1579160789306511362?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\u2064 noopener\">avid<\/a>\u2064 anti-<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/22\/the-election-denier-smear-is-the-dumbest-rhetorical-device-in-modern-politics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\u200d rel=\"noreferrer \u2064noopener\">said \u2064in\u2062 a\u2063 statement. \u201cEvery \u2063serious\u200b challenge \u2063to the election \u200dhad \u200dbeen denied, dismissed, or otherwise rejected by\u2064 the time \u2062the\u2063 false \u2062electors\u2064 convened.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>Sanctimonious Scrambling<\/h3>\n<p>As soon as it\u200d was clear\u200d that Donald\u200c Trump, despite\u200d the \u200ddeep\u2063 state\u2019s best efforts to \u2063hoax him \u200cout\u2064 of \u200bthe\u2063 running, would become the 45th president of\u200d the\u2064 United States, Democrats and their allies scrambled to \u2063influence electors to reject Americans\u2019 \u2063wishes.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Corporate media quickly rose\u200d to the\u200c top\u2063 as \u2064the\u2064 loudest\u200c voice calling\u2062 for electoral disobedience. \u200dArticles demanding state\u200d electors \u201cprevent an irresponsible demagogue from \u200ctaking office\u201d\u200d and \u200coverrule\u200d Americans \u2062to install Hillary Clinton \u2062as \u2062president\u2062 popped up in the\u2062 pages \u2062of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/politics\/archive\/2016\/11\/the-electoral-college-was-meant-to-stop-men-like-trump-from-being-president\/508310\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The \u200cAtlantic<\/a>, \u2063The \u2063<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/the-constitution-lets-the-electoral-college-choose-the-winner-they-should-choose-clinton\/2016\/11\/24\/0f431828-b0f7-11e6-8616-52b15787add0_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Washington Post<\/a>,\u200b the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/articles\/2016\/11\/27\/the-people-chose-hillary-clinton-now-we-need-to-stop-donald-trump-from-trashing-our-democracy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vox, and <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/4597387\/faithless-electors-donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Time<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>No Such Thing As \u2018False Electors\u2019<\/h3>\n<p>In\u2063 her charges,\u2062 Nessel repeatedly painted\u2062 the \u2062Michigan defendants\u2064 as\u2063 \u201cfalse elector\u201d\u2062 co-conspirators\u2062 who \u2062participated in a \u200c\u201cdesperate \u200ceffort\u201d to \u201cinterfere with and overturn\u200d our free and \u200cfair election \u200dprocess,\u200c and\u200b along with \u200cit, the will \u200cof millions of Michigan voters.\u201d\u200c Legally, however,\u200d there\u2019s no\u2062 such thing as \u201cfalse electors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were\u2062 contingent \u2062Republican electors \u2063named \u200bconsistent with legal\u2064 precedent \u200cto preserve\u2063 the still\u2063 ongoing\u2062 legal\u200c challenges to \u2062the validity of\u200b Georgia\u2019s certified\u2063 vote,\u201d my\u2063 colleague Margot\u200c Cleveland\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/05\/15\/the-lefts-2020-fake-electors-narrative-is-fake-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\u200c noopener\">explained<\/a> in \u2064May when <a title=\"Dems Lost All Credibility On Social Distancing After Biden Celebrations\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dems-lost-all-credibility-on-social-distancing-after-biden-celebrations\/\">corporate media<\/a> \u2063tried to smear Republican electors \u2063in \u200dthe\u200b Peach\u2064 State.<\/p>\n<p>A similar elector \u2063swap \u2064to\u2064 those in \u200bMichigan and Georgia \u2063happened in Hawaii in\u2064 1960. As \u200dCleveland pointed\u2064 out, it\u2063 received\u200c praise instead of \u2063scrutiny because Democrats and their \u2063preferred candidate\u2063 came \u200dout on \u2064top.<\/p>\n<p>After Richard \u200cNixon \u200dwas \u2062initially declared the\u200b victor\u2063 in Hawaii in 1960, both\u200b Nixon\u2019s and \u200dJohn F. \u200dKennedy\u2019s electors decided\u2063 to meet and\u200c \u201ccast \u2063their votes\u200b for President and Vice\u200d President, and\u2064 certified their own meeting and votes.\u201d The three Hawaii\u200c electors, all\u200d Democrats, cast their votes\u200c for\u200d Kennedy.<\/p>\n<p>When state circuit \u2063court\u200b Judge\u200d Ronald Jamieson eventually ruled Kennedy\u2064 the \u2062winner of the presidency, \u2062Cleveland \u200bsaid\u200d he \u2064\u201cstressed the\u2062 importance of the \u2062Democrat\u200d electors\u2062 having met\u2063 on Dec. 19, \u200das prescribed \u200bby the\u200c Electoral \u2062Count\u200d Act,\u2062 to \u200ccast their\u200b ballots in \u2062favor of\u2063 Kennedy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2064 step allowed\u2062 the Hawaii\u2063 governor to \u200cthen \u2064certify\u2063 Kennedy as\u200c the winner of Hawaii\u2019s three electoral votes \u200dand, in\u200d turn, Congress to count \u200dHawaii\u2019s electoral votes in\u2062 favor of Kennedy,\u201d \u2064she\u2064 continued.<\/p>\n<p>The\u2064 stark\u2062 difference \u200dbetween\u200c how Democrats and Republicans\u2063 are \u200btreated \u200don the \u2062elector \u2063issue merely confirms Americans\u2019 \u200cworst fears about the nation\u2019s \u2063two-tiered \u2063system of justice.<\/p>\n<p>More Democrats denied that\u2062 former\u200b President Donald Trump won the\u200d 2016\u2062 election than the \u2063people who claimed President Joe Biden wasn\u2019t <a title=\"Mississippi Gov: \u2018I Don\u2019t Think Mail-In Voting Should Be Allowed,\u2019 \u2018Lots Of Opportunities For Fraud\u2019\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mississippi-gov-i-dont-think-mail-in-voting-should-be-allowed-lots-of-opportunities-for-fraud\/\">legitimately elected<\/a> in\u2063 2020 \u2014 but \u200cit\u2019s Republicans \u2064who\u200c face\u2063 jail time for expressing concern.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re a\u2064 loyal \u2062leftist partisan\u2064 harping \u200con voting machines \u200dand Russian \u201chacking,\u201d\u2064 objecting to every GOP\u200c victory, and \u200bdemanding electors \u2063vote\u2062 against the will\u200c of the \u2062people, you\u2019re\u2062 a \u200chero\u2062 and protector \u200cof democracy.
