Let&#8217;s \u2064dive into \u2063the \u2064details.<\/p>\n<p>During \u200ba board meeting on July 15, board\u2064 members listened to feedback \u2064from proponents of\u200d RCV. While \u2062there was support\u2064 for\u200c RCV, the board felt that\u200b more outreach and education were needed to \u200bhelp \u200cvoters \u2063understand\u200d how \u200bRCV \u200cworks. Outgoing Chair \u200bChristian Dorsey emphasized the\u200b importance of gathering data, information, and\u2062 socializing the concept\u2062 with the \u200dcommunity before committing\u2063 to \u200cit for every election.<\/p>\n<p>One of the \u200dconcerns\u2062 raised by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/schumer-introduces-bipartisan-measure-to-declassify-ufo-records\/\" title=\"Schumer proposes bipartisan bill to declassify UFO files.\">board\u200b members<\/a>\u200b and constituents\u200d was\u200d the\u2063 lack of understanding about RCV, particularly the tabulation process. Vice Chair \u2063Libby\u200c Garvey highlighted\u200b the need \u2064for \u200bvoters\u200c to \u2064know how their vote counts, making her uncomfortable with \u200cimplementing\u2062 RCV \u200dfor \u2064the \u200cupcoming\u200b election.<\/p>\n<p>So, what exactly is\u200b RCV? It&#8217;s an \u200delection method that\u2064 allows\u200d voters to rank candidates\u200b in order\u2062 of \u200cpreference. \u200bIn \u200dVirginia, candidates \u200cin\u2062 an \u200bRCV\u200b election must secure 34 \u200bpercent of votes \u200dcast \u2063when there are\u200b two \u200copen seats to win.<\/p>\n<h2>Residents Share Their Feedback<\/h2>\n<p>After \u2063the June primary, the\u2064 board conducted a\u200d survey and received \u20622,450 responses. The \u200cmajority\u2062 of respondents (57 percent) had positive \u2062or \u200dexceptional experiences\u2063 using RCV, \u200dwhile 29\u2063 percent \u2063had negative experiences and 13\u2064 percent had \u200dfair experiences. Interestingly, 47 percent\u2064 of \u200brespondents believed that \u2062RCV should\u200d be implemented in every\u2062 election, while 7\u2063 percent thought\u200d it should only\u200d be used in \u2063primaries. \u2064On the\u2063 other hand, 32\u2064 percent believed that RCV should not\u2062 be implemented at all, \u200cand \u206212 percent \u2064were unsure.<\/p>\n<figure\u2062 id=\"attachment_5409231\"\u2063 style=\"width: 640px\"\u200d class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2023\/07\/19\/id5409231-Screenshot-Ranked-Choice-Voting-1200x667.png\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><\/noscript><\/figcaption><\/a><br \/>\n\t\tRanked Choice\u200b Voting Scores \u2063for 2021 \u2064Virginia GOP\u2062 Primary.\u2062 (Courtesy of \u200dFairVote)<br \/>\n\t<\/figure>\n<p>According\u2063 to county \u200cboard \u2063spokesman David\u200b Byetta,\u200b voters learned\u2064 about \u200bRCV from \u2064various \u2063sources, \u2062with political organizations\u2064 being the \u2064most \u2063common (74 percent).
