Gaetz hopes\u200b to short-circuit the \u200cpotential second federal indictment against\u2063 Trump \u200cby pulling the plug on the \u2063funding for \u200cthe investigation.<\/p>\n<p>On \u2064Tuesday, Trump made a shocking \u200dannouncement, revealing that he expects to be indicted\u200b by special \u200bcounsel\u2062 Jack \u200dSmith. They are\u2063 attacking \u200dour democracy \u200dand engaging\u2062 in\u200d election\u2062 interference right \u2063now.\u200c The \u2063United States \u200bCongress has the\u2062 capability to stop this election interference, and \u2062we must act immediately!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In \u200da video accompanying his \u2062post,\u200c Gaetz\u2064 emphasized the urgency of \u200dthe situation, saying, \u200d&#8221;In the \u200dcoming hours,\u200d the \u2064coming days, I \u2064will be\u2064 introducing \u200dlegislation \u2063under\u200c my name in\u2062 the House of \u2063Representatives \u200bas\u200c a\u200b freestanding \u2063bill \u200dto defund \u2064the Jack \u2062Smith investigation. We have to stop \u2063sending money \u2063to this.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The bill \u200dintroduced\u200b by Gaetz\u200d is \u200bstraightforward,\u200d stating that Smith should \u200dnot have\u2064 access to federal funds. Gaetz&#8217;s call\u200c to\u2064 cut off funding for Smith \u2064follows\u2063 a similar\u200b proposal \u2063made by\u2064 Republican Rep.
