It\u2019s not\u200b too \u2064much to \u2063say that \u200dsuch \u2064a \u2062move would not only imperil \u200bthe\u2062 upcoming \u200dpresidential election \u200dbut the\u200c republic itself. On \u2062Tuesday,\u2063 Trump said\u2064 he \u2064had received a letter informing\u200c him\u2064 he is a target of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/jake-tapper-notes-hunter-biden-investigation-lara-trump-fires-glad-you-finally-figured-that-out\/\" title=\"Jake Tapper Notes Hunter Biden Investigation; Lara Trump Fires: \u2018Glad You Finally Figured That Out\u2019\">federal criminal investigation<\/a>\u2063 of Jan. \u20646\u2063 being \u2062led by Special Counsel \u200cJack \u200bSmith. In a \u2062post \u200bon his \u2062<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-new-acting-attorney-general-jeff-rosen-recently-wrote-an-essay-on-foreign-influence-in-us-elections-this-tells-us-a-little-about-his-knowledge-of-whats-going-on-today\/\" title=\"The New Acting Attorney General Jeff Rosen Recently Wrote an Essay on Foreign Influence in US Elections \u2013 This Tells Us A Little About His Knowledge of What\u2019s Going On Today\">social media platform<\/a>, Truth Social, Trump\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PhilipWegmann\/status\/1681298409343401984?s=20\" \u200dtarget=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">explained<\/a>\u00a0he was given the \u200cletter \u2062on Sunday and that Smith\u2063 gave\u2063 him just four \u200ddays to\u200c report to \u200bthe grand\u200d jury, \u201cwhich almost always means an\u200d Arrest and\u200c Indictment,\u201d\u200d Trump \u200cwrote.<\/p>\n<p>  \u200c  <\/p>\n<p>This is the second target letter\u2062 Trump has received from Smith. The first \u200cone came in\u2064 June, in connection with\u2062 the unprecedented\u200d FBI raid on Trump\u2019s Mar-a-Lago \u2062home\u2064 last\u2063 year over\u2064 classified \u200cdocuments. \u200dDays\u200c later,\u200c Trump was charged with dozens of criminal counts relating to seven different\u2064 federal\u200c laws\u2063 governing the handling\u200c of\u200c classified material. (Recall\u2063 that classified documents, some of them top secret and\u2062 dating back at least six\u200c years, were also\u2063 found \u200bin President Joe Biden\u2019s garage \u2063and \u200bat \u200dhis \u201cthink tank\u201d in Washington, \u200bD.C.,\u200d last\u200d November through January. Rest assured \u200cBiden will \u200bnever be indicted\u2063 over \u2062it.)<\/p>\n<p>   \u200d <\/p>\n<p>Trump and others have\u2064 rightly denounced this as\u200b the\u200c weaponization \u2063of\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/d-c-mayor-congress-must-open-a-probe-into-security-failures-at-u-s-capitol\/\" title=\"D.C. Mayor: Congress must open a probe into security failures at U.S. Capitol\">federal law enforcement<\/a> \u2064and the criminalization of political differences. It\u2019s also just \u200da naked attempt to rig the 2024\u200d election \u2063in Biden\u2019s favor. As \u2062Tucker\u2062 Carlson has said, \u200d\u201cThey\u2019re \u2064trying to take\u200d Trump out\u200d before \u2063you \u200dcan vote for him, and that should upset you\u200b more than\u200d anything that\u2019s happened in\u200d American politics in your lifetime.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> \u2063\u200b   \u2062<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s not\u2063 an overstatement. If \u2062Biden\u2019s DOJ throws Trump in prison, \u200bOrtega-style, \u2063for a\u200d crime the U.S.\u200b Senate\u00a0<a\u2064 href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheMattBeebe\/status\/1681323876444143618?s=20\"\u200b target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">already acquitted him \u200cof<\/a>, \u200bthere\u2019ll \u200bbe a \u200cwhole new constituency\u200b of \u200dvoters who \u200bwill \u2064claim, rightly, that 2024 has been preemptively stolen.<\/p>\n<p> \u2063   <\/p>\n<p>Indeed, Biden\u2019s\u200c Justice Department under \u200dAttorney General Merrick Garland might be badly\u200c overplaying its hand here, unintentionally swelling the \u200dranks \u2063of Americans who might\u200c not love Trump but absolutely loathe the way federal law enforcement\u200d has \u200dbeen\u200b deployed against\u200d him and his supporters from the moment he\u200c won office in\u200b 2016.<\/p>\n<p> \u2063 \u2064\u2064  <\/p>\n<p>Between the Russia-collusion hoax, two bogus impeachments, and\u2063 a litany of \u2063outrageous\u200b indictments, Trump\u2019s enemies in Washington \u200bare earning him sympathy from ordinary American\u2063 people,\u200c who \u200ccan recognize injustice and \u2064abuse of power \u200cwhen they see \u200bit.<\/p>\n<p> \u200c  \u200c <\/p>\n<p>They \u200dcan\u2063 also recognize what by now is obvious. There are\u200c two standards \u200bof justice in America: one\u2064 for establishment \u2064insiders like Biden and \u200dhis corrupt \u200dfamily, and one\u200b for outsider politicians like Trump that dissent from the permanent regime\u200d in Washington \u200band\u2064 try \u200bto disrupt it.<\/p>\n<div\u2063 class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-579b0e8ad7e36499c8f2c490a6111ad7\u200b fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-579b0e8ad7e36499c8f2c490a6111ad7\"><\/div>\n<p> \u2062   <\/p>\n<h3>A\u200d Threat to Democracy<\/h3>\n<p>\u200b    <\/p>\n<p>Maybe\u200c that doesn\u2019t matter to Biden and Garland and those in power. Maybe they feel like, \u200bafter 2020, they don\u2019t \u200ceven need \u2064to \u200cbe seen as legitimate by half the country in \u2063order \u200dto rule, and they\u2019re willing to do anything to defeat Trump. But they\u2019re\u200c kidding themselves\u200d if they think they\u2063 can simply take Trump out by arresting and \u200dindicting \u2064him, \u200dand\u200b then move \u200donward into the 2024 cycle \u200das if\u2062 everything is\u200c fine.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>  \u200c \u200c <\/p>\n<p>Their weaponization of federal\u200d law \u2062enforcement, if it continues, is going to \u200bdelegitimize the \u200b2024\u2062 election \u200cbefore a single ballot is cast.
