While\u200d this \u2062is a\u2062 smaller \u200dpercentage compared to\u2063 the original loan forgiveness \u2064scheme, the\u2062 political\u2064 impact\u200d remains the same \u2014 officials \u200bwill highlight their\u2062 efforts to\u200c assist borrowers while\u200d Republicans\u2064 voice their\u200c objections.<\/p>\n<p>House\u2063 Education and \u2062Workforce\u2062 Committee \u2062Chairwoman \u2063Virginia \u2062Foxx (R-NC) immediately criticized the latest\u200c move, calling it &#8220;a desperate Hail \u200cMary \u2064attempt to\u200d save his bid\u2063 for \u200breelection.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;It\u2019s \u2062embarrassing,\u200b but \u2063more \u200bimportantly, his willingness\u2062 to ignore \u2062the \u200bSupreme\u2062 Court \u2064and thumb his \u2064nose\u2064 at the \u2064rule of law \u200creveals\u2063 a \u200cman who \u200cbelieves his\u2064 power is absolute,&#8221; Foxx \u2064said. &#8220;That is not someone who\u200b deserves \u200bto lead our\u200b great Republic.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Biden administration has also expressed \u2063interest in \u200dexploring\u200c other avenues for implementing broad student\u200b loan forgiveness, ensuring \u200bthat\u200d the issue\u2064 will\u200c remain \u200da prominent \u2063topic for\u200c Democrats well \u2064into 2024 and\u2062 beyond.<\/p>\n<p>Biden had promised to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/chuck-schumer-quietly-shutting-down-alexandria-ocasio-cortez-primary-challenge\/\" title=\"Chuck Schumer Quietly Shutting Down Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Primary Challenge\">cancel student loan debt<\/a> during his \u200dsuccessful\u200d 2020 presidential campaign, \u2063but initially stated that Congress would need to take action first. Although\u2063 Biden vetoed the decision, he \u200bwas\u200d unable to prevent\u2062 the\u2064 Supreme\u200c Court\u200d from\u2062 striking down \u2063the program later\u2062 that month.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless,\u2063 the White House has not\u200b been deterred\u200c and\u200c has pursued alternative\u2064 measures,\u2062 such as the new $39\u200b billion program. \u200bThey have also \u2063discussed\u200b the \u2063possibility\u2062 of attempting\u200d the $400-plus \u200bbillion program under the\u200b Higher\u2063 Education \u2062Act, rather \u200dthan relying\u2062 on the \u200dHEROES Act as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/state-legislatures-push-to-fight-big-tech-but-experts-warn-of-limitations\/\" title=\"State Legislatures Push to Fight Big Tech, but Experts Warn of Limitations\">legal justification<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>From a political \u2064standpoint, \u200dBiden has \u2062squarely placed \u2062the blame on the \u200bSupreme\u200d Court.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;I didn\u2019t\u200b give any \u2062false\u2063 hope,&#8221; he stated on \u200cJune\u200c 30. &#8220;What I\u200c did,\u2064 I thought, was\u2063 appropriate and\u2063 achievable.
