Though the story is not as \u200dwell known, the very same\u200d outlets that \u2063demand that America&#8217;s \u2064governments, universities, and churches cough up billions \u2063of dollars to right historical\u200b wrongs\u2062 are\u2062 also responsible for \u2062grave \u2062racial\u200d injustices.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex\u200c justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; \u2064text-align: \u200dcenter; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1093516062\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-324800fce9926a79a42ef427cd62f492 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-324800fce9926a79a42ef427cd62f492\"><\/div>\n<p>   \u200d <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">An Embarrassing Journalistic \u200bHeritage<\/h2>\n<p>  \u200d  <\/p>\n<p>The Washington \u200cPost,\u200d for example,\u200b was \u2064founded by racist \u2062Confederate sympathizer Stilson Hutchins, \u2064who \u200din\u2062 1863 emphatically announced \u200chis\u200b opposition to slavery, \u200dasking, &#8220;Who wants Iowa covered with indolent blacks?&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>\u2063  \u2064 \u2063 <\/p>\n<p>During the\u200b &#8220;Red Summer&#8221; \u200dof \u20631919, \u2064black Americans in \u2063more\u200d than three\u2064 dozen \u2063cities were subjected to racially motivated violence often \u2064spurred\u2063 on \u200dby\u2064 local\u2062 newspapers. In Washington, D.C., <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/corporate-media-forget-their-racist-past-when-lecturing-about-reparations\/\" title=\"Corporate media conveniently overlook their own racist history while attempting to lecture on the topic of reparations.\">white \u2064mobs \u200battacked black people<\/a> and\u2064 businesses \u200dfor\u200b four \u2062days.\u200c The Washington Post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/history\/2019\/07\/15\/deadly-race-riot-aided-abetted-by-washington-post-century-ago\/\">contributed \u2063to that violence<\/a>, \u2064featuring the\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/tim-graham-liz-cheney-the-gops-joan-of-arc\/\" title=\"Tim Graham: Liz Cheney, the GOP's Joan of Arc?\">front-page headline<\/a> &#8220;Mobilization for Tonight,&#8221;\u200d calling on &#8220;every available \u200cservice man&#8221; to\u2062 meet that evening for a &#8220;clean-up,&#8221; a \u200ceuphemism\u200b for further\u200d violence against black people. \u200cThe NAACP blamed\u200c the article for inciting much of the \u2064subsequent violence against\u200c black\u2063 people.<\/p>\n<p>    \u200c<\/p>\n<p>Or consider The New York Times, which has been <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2020\/07\/11\/ny-times-praises-cancel-culture-but-skips-its-own-racist-history-goodwin\/amp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">owned or \u2064managed by the \u200cOchs-Sulzberger family for 125 years<\/a>, and\u200d whose current\u2063 chairman, A.G. Sulzberger, is \u2064a direct descendant\u200b of Adolph S. Ochs, who \u200cpurchased The New York Times in\u2062 1896.\u200d Ten\u2063 years \u2063after Ochs&#8217; \u200dacquisition, \u200cThe \u200dNew York Times ran a glowing profile of \u200cConfederate president \u200cJefferson Davis. \u2064It \u200dalso excused \u2064the so-called Wilmington \u2064Coup of 1898,\u200b during which a \u2062white \u200cmob violently\u200c ravaged the black community of\u200c Wilmington,\u2064 North Carolina, as justified to \u200crestore &#8220;<a \u200dhref=\"https:\/\/timesmachine.nytimes.com\/timesmachine\/1898\/11\/11\/102569600.html?pageNumber=1\">law and order<\/a>.&#8221; \u200bOchs&#8217; mother, \u2063Bertha, was a Confederate sympathizer, which explains why \u200cOchs donated\u200b $1,000 to have \u200cher name engraved on the Stone Mountain Confederate Memorial \u2062in Georgia.<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, \u2063the Los Angeles Times \u200c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/opinion\/story\/2020-09-27\/los-angeles-times-apology-racism\" target=\"_blank\"\u2063 rel=\"noreferrer\u200c noopener\">confessed<\/a> that\u200d its reporting in earlier \u200cdecades had \u200d&#8221;reinforced\u200c pernicious stereotypes that Black and Latino Angelenos were\u200b thieves, rapists and killers.&#8221; It acknowledged that\u200d &#8220;for\u2064 at least its\u2063 first \u200b80 years, the Los Angeles Times was\u200d an institution deeply rooted in white\u2063 supremacy.&#8221; This included the outlet&#8217;s\u200c support for the \u200cinternment of Japanese Americans during World\u2062 War II \u2063and backing of\u2062 the expulsion of\u2063 Latino\u2063 U.S.\u200d citizens.\u200c The \u200dChicago \u200bTribune in turn was once \u2064an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jstor.org\/stable\/44210773\">outspokenly nativist, anti-Catholic\u2062 paper<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div\u200d class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-fe7a631c22cd4b3977bc307bb3f91c35 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\"\u200d id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-fe7a631c22cd4b3977bc307bb3f91c35\"><\/div>\n<p>  \u200c  <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Virtue-Signaling for Deflection<\/h2>\n<p> \u200d   <\/p>\n<p>These \u200bmedia\u2062 outlets are not ignorant of\u2064 their own \u200dracist\u200c past. Indeed, in several \u2064of the\u2063 above\u200b examples,\u200d it is the newspapers themselves that have admitted to their past misdeeds. The \u2064Los Angeles Times has explicitly \u2063<a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/opinion\/story\/2020-09-27\/los-angeles-times-apology-racism\">apologized\u200b for its\u2064 past<\/a>, \u200dvowed to &#8220;do better,&#8221;\u2063 and\u200d promised \u200dto &#8220;redouble and refocus its\u2062 efforts to \u2063become an inclusive \u200cand inspiring voice of California.&#8221; The \u2062Kansas City\u2062 Star \u2064<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kansascity.com\/news\/local\/article247928045.html\">did the \u2063same in\u200d 2020<\/a>, apologizing for decades of racist coverage of\u2063 black\u200c Americans.<\/p>\n<p>What is \u2063conspicuously absent from this\u2064 penitential reporting\u200c and public apologies are\u2062 what these outlets constantly demand from the \u200bmany American \u200dinstitutions they accuse \u2064of \u2064having perpetuated generations\u2064 of racism:\u2064 namely, \u200creparations. The L.A. Times editorial board, for example, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/opinion\/story\/2023-06-30\/editorial-reparations-for-slavery-overdue-californias-lawmakers-must-make-them-happen\">just\u200b this past June<\/a> \u200bdemanded that the state of California \u200dpay reparations \u200bfor \u2063<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/elon-university-hosts-white-caucus-meeting-to-unpack-systemic-oppression\/\" title=\"Elon University Hosts \u2018White Caucus\u2019 Meeting To \u2018Unpack\u2019 \u2018Systemic Oppression\u2019\">past racial injustices<\/a> \u2062such as slavery. The New York \u2062Times,\u2064 as we\u2063 all know,\u2062 promoted the &#8220;1619\u200c Project,&#8221; which its progenitor, Nikole Hannah-Jones, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewrap.com\/1619-project-creator-black-reparations\/\">clearly stated<\/a> was intended\u2064 to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/nbcblk\/-1619-project-series-makes-case-reparations-rcna67495#:~:text=In%20the%20Hulu%20series%20and,American%20descendants%20of%20those%20enslaved.\">facilitate reparations<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Neither\u2062 the L.A. \u200cTimes \u2014 nor any other legacy media outlet \u2014 \u200bhas \u200bannounced\u200b a remunerative program\u2064 to account \u2064for its own checkered history. Its\u200b sole pledge thus \u200dfar has been \u200dits \u2064declared \u2063intention to increase \u2064diversity hires and do \u200ba\u200d better job in racial-related\u2064 reporting. \u200dPresumably,\u200d this explains \u2063the strategy of\u2063 other major outlets like the NYT and WaPo: As long as the outlets\u200b confess \u2064their \u2062past \u2062sins, agree to a more diverse workforce, and\u200b churn\u200d out\u200b a <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/12\/07\/we-need-a-more-forceful-pushback-to-a-hostile-media\/\">mind-numbing amount of racial content<\/a>, they can avoid bankrupting themselves\u200d via racial \u200breparations.<\/p>\n<p>\u2062   \u200d <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A \u200cChallenge to the NYT and\u2063 WaPo<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>   \u200b <\/p>\n<p>But what else can \u2064these \u200dinstitutions do? \u200bThey have committed \u2062themselves, via\u200b every printed word, to \u200bthe\u2062 cause \u200bof rectifying the effects of\u200c &#8220;systemic,\u2062 institutionalized racism.&#8221; Yet as even the most leftist universities, businesses, and cities are realizing, the racial reparations \u200cgame is a vicious, self-destructive, self-consuming monster. San Francisco&#8217;s\u200c African American\u200b Reparations Advisory Committee <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/opinion\/finance\/3954846-how-you-may-wind-up-paying-for-san-franciscos-reparations-plan\/\">has proposed<\/a> not only millions \u2062in \u2062payouts\u200d to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/californias-reparations-plan-would-spend-almost-double-the-states-entire-budget-on-race-based-handouts\/\" title=\"California\u2019s Reparations Plan Would Spend Almost Double The State\u2019s Entire Budget On Race-Based Handouts\">eligible black residents<\/a>,\u2064 but an elimination of all \u200cpersonal debt, guaranteed annual \u200dincomes \u2062of at least \u2064$97,000 for 250 years,\u200d and practically free homes for black \u200cresidents. \u200cThis\u2062 errant\u2063 enterprise \u2064will\u2064 cost taxpayers <em>billions\u200b of dollars<\/em>. This\u2064 is in a\u2063 state with a budget deficit of <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/california-governor-newsom-budget-d12f60cda36c2bbc9c765b64023bfff9\">more \u2062than $32 billion<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div \u2063class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2784193f221a94185e65ffb5b1891420 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2784193f221a94185e65ffb5b1891420\"><\/div>\n<p> \u2062   <\/p>\n<p>Of course, legacy media, for all their racial reparations bluster, do not have\u200d billions\u200b of dollars. Hence their dilemma, thus far \u200bawkwardly addressed via \u200bperformative\u200b statements about \u200d&#8221;doing better.&#8221;\u200d But if\u200c these journalists\u200c expect\u200c the rest of America \u2064to go along with a\u200c financially suicidal\u200b reparations \u200cprogram, surely The New \u200dYork Times, \u200cThe Washington\u200d Post, \u200dand the\u2062 rest should be at\u200d the forefront of emptying their\u200b bank accounts\u2062 to rectify\u200b these historical wrongs.<\/p>\n<p>  \u2063 \u2062 <\/p>\n<p>Understandably, it might\u2063 take\u200c some\u200b time for these papers to identify the many thousands (if not millions) of Americans who \u200bare deserving of said payouts. \u2062The rest of us\u2064 will be \u200bwaiting with bated\u2063 breath.<\/p>\n<div \u2064class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-4cde95da09137fc224f54c2b93fb4edc\u200c fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\"\u2064 id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-4cde95da09137fc224f54c2b93fb4edc\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">   \u2062 \t\t\t\t\t  \u2064 \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The media, often left-leaning, strongly supports racial reparations.
