Biden, which specifically noted \u200dthat the FBI flagged \u200cdomestic speech as potential disinformation and that the FBI &#8216;significant[ly]\u200d encourage[d]&#8217;\u2062 social\u2063 media\u200d platforms to \u2063take certain actions \u200cwith \u2062respect to content,&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>During\u200d a regular \u200boversight hearing\u2064 before the committee, Wray denied \u200callegations\u200b that the\u200b FBI \u2062pressured\u200b social\u200d media\u2064 companies\u200c to censor \u200dor \u200dsuppress\u200d content. He\u200c emphasized that the bureau&#8217;s focus\u2064 was on\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-judiciary-asks-wray-to-amend-his-testimony-that-fbi-does-not-censor\/\" title=\"House Judiciary requests Wray to revise his statement denying FBI censorship.\">foreign hostile\u2064 actors \u2062interfering<\/a> with \u2063social\u200c media\u2063 content.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;At the end \u2064of \u2063the\u200b day, we \u2064[the FBI] are\u200d very clear\u200c that\u2063 it&#8217;s up to the social \u200cmedia\u200d companies\u200d to do something\u200d or not,&#8221; \u2063Wray \u2063stated.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Republicans \u2064pointed to Judge \u2062Terry A. Doughty&#8217;s \u2063ruling,\u2064 which \u2062highlighted \u2063instances where \u200cthe FBI\u2063 flagged\u2064 &#8220;domestic disinformation&#8221; for social media \u2064companies leading up\u200c to the\u2064 2020 election. The ruling also suggested that the \u200dFBI may\u2063 have misled social media platforms\u200d into\u200b suppressing \u2064the \u200cHunter\u2062 Biden\u2063 laptop story, falsely believing \u2063it to\u200b be \u200dRussian disinformation.<\/p>\n<p>The\u200d lawmakers\u200b provided\u200d copies\u200b of \u2063emails\u2063 they had obtained, \u2063including\u2064 one where an\u2062 FBI agent \u200dasked Facebook \u2063to confirm\u2062 the removal\u200d of certain \u2064accounts.\u200c This evidence, \u200balong \u200dwith\u2062 the court ruling, led \u200cthe Republicans\u2062 to question Wray&#8217;s \u2062testimony.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;This discrepancy \u2063between your testimony\u200c and the\u2062 information we \u200chave obtained leads \u200bus\u2063 to \u2063conclude that either you \u2063misled\u200d the Committee\u2062 about \u2063the \u2063FBI&#8217;s\u200c interactions with social \u2063media\u2062 companies \u2062or\u2064 that you were not fully \u200caware\u2063 of\u2063 the egregious and\u200b unconstitutional actions\u2064 of the FBI you administer,&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Republicans urged Wray to\u2064 amend \u2063his testimony, which is currently documented in the congressional\u200c record. \u2064This \u200crequest comes\u2064 shortly\u200c after Judiciary\u200b Committee Chairman\u2062 Jim Jordan \u200cwarned \u200cWray\u2063 about potential\u200c contempt charges\u2062 if\u2064 he fails to comply with multiple\u200b subpoenas.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2063Washington Examiner has\u200b reached out to \u200dthe\u2064 FBI for\u200b comment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>House Judiciary Committee Republicans asked FBI Director Christopher Wray to revise his testimony on free speech censorship.
