Republicans claim \u200dthat\u200b the administration is slow-walking approvals and not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-administration-is-slow-walking-taiwan-arms-sales-holding-back-on-china-sanctions-house-gop-says\/\" title=\"House GOP accuses Biden administration of delaying Taiwan arms sales and withholding China sanctions.\">imposing sanctions\u2063 aggressively due<\/a> to \u2062fears \u200bof angering\u200d the Chinese\u200c Communist Party\u2062 (CCP). \u2064This fear is not \u200donly \u2062visible to \u2062the\u2063 CCP but\u2062 also\u200b to nations\u200c across the world, especially those in the \u200cAsia Pacific\u200d region. Recent incidents, \u200dsuch\u2064 as the \u2064<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/china-claims-spy-balloon-floating-over-us-nuclear-sites-is-for-scientific-research\/\" title=\"China Claims Spy Balloon Floating Over US Nuclear Sites Is for 'Scientific Research'\">spy balloon incident<\/a>\u200d and Chinese hacking of\u2064 government\u200c email accounts,\u200d have raised concerns about the administration&#8217;s \u200bapproach.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThis administration appears indifferent to\u2063 CCP\u2062 hostility \u2062with \u200bits\u2063 appeasing \u2026 to\u2063 facilitate talks,\u201d\u2063 said \u200bHouse Foreign \u200cRelations Committee Chair Rep. Michael\u2064 McCaul \u2064(R-Texas). \u201cI think our recent \u2062diplomacy \u2063towards \u200dthe\u2062 CCP has demonstrated \u2063weakness\u2014and weakness invites\u2062 aggression\u2014and emboldened dictators such as \u200bChairman\u200b Xi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn some ways,\u201d he continued, \u200c\u201cI \u2063think \u200cthis administration \u2063finds \u2064itself\u2062 trapped in a cycle where the CCP dictates the terms, \u200bthe timing, \u2063and conditions of our\u200b meetings rather than\u200c the other way around. \u2062You\u200c should be at the \u200btable at a place\u2062 of strength and leverage, not\u2064 out \u200cof weakness \u200band appeasement.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Mr. McCaul expressed\u2064 his concerns\u2064 during\u200d a House hearing\u2063 on the\u200c State Department&#8217;s \u2062proposed\u200b budget for Eastern Asia and the\u2062 Pacific. He\u200c asked Mr. Kritenbrink for clarification on this matter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s \u200babsolutely not true that\u200d we \u200care pulling our punches in\u200c any\u200d way,\u201d Mr. Kritenbrink responded. \u201cAnd \u2063in fact, the United\u200d States government and\u2063 the\u200b State\u2063 Department have taken an unprecedented number\u2064 of steps \u200cagainst the \u2064Chinese in a broad range of \u200bareas that has continued from the beginning of this\u200c administration. He expressed concerns about\u200c the delay\u2064 in providing weapons to Taiwan.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Kritenbrink explained that Secretary\u2063 of Defense Lloyd Austin has\u200b laid out \u2064the \u200cparameters\u200b for \u200chow \u2063the seed \u2064funding could \u200bfacilitate\u2064 weapons purchases for \u200cTaiwan&#8217;s defense. He\u200b assured \u2062that \u2063the administration\u200c is committed to using \u200ball means\u2064 at\u2063 its disposal\u200d to support Taiwan&#8217;s defense.<\/p>\n<p>However, Mr.\u2063 McCaul \u200dexpressed dissatisfaction with the administration&#8217;s response and \u2064emphasized the importance of \u2064providing weapons \u2063systems to\u200c Taiwan before a\u2062 conflict erupts.<\/p>\n<p>Subcommittee chair Rep. Young Kim (R-Calif.) criticized the &#8220;backlog in \u2063weapons \u2062deliveries&#8221; and the State Department&#8217;s\u2064 lack of transparency in addressing delays.
