Biden<\/em>\u2063 that\u200b banned \u200cWhite\u200b House officials \u200dfrom colluding with California tech\u200b giants \u2063to \u2062censor\u2062 American speech.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Last\u2063 week, Chief\u200c Judge\u2063 Terry\u200c Doughty\u2064 in\u200d the \u200bWestern District\u200c of Louisiana \u200dhanded down \u2062a <a\u2064 href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/23867004-08917380420?responsive=1&#038;title=1\" \u200btarget=\"_blank\" \u2064rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">preliminary\u200b injunction<\/a> prohibiting\u200d the\u2063 administration\u200d from collaborating \u200cwith Silicon Valley to implement online censorship campaigns. \u200cThe case was \u200bbrought\u200d by attorneys\u200b general in \u200dMissouri\u200b and\u200c Louisiana,\u2062 who alleged last year the federal government violated Americans\u2019 First Amendment liberties \u200dwhen\u2062 pressuring online\u2062 platforms to censor posts\u2064 about Covid-19 and the \u200bpresident, among \u200cother things.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex \u2062justify-content-center\" \u2063style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \u200d\" \u2063id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-704342344\">\n<div \u2063id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-c69d9ec8354fb200bd838c9b05164842 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\"\u2062 id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-c69d9ec8354fb200bd838c9b05164842\"><\/div>\n<p>Judge \u200cDoughty \u2063cited \u201csubstantial evidence\u201d presented by the\u2062 plaintiffs of a\u2063 \u201cfar-reaching\u200d and widespread \u2063censorship\u2062 campaign\u201d that warranted the injunction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf\u200d the\u200b allegations made by plaintiffs are \u2063true,\u201d Doughty\u200b wrote, the \u200ccase\u2062 \u201cinvolves the most massive attack against free\u200d speech \u200bin\u200b United \u200dStates\u2019 history.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The judge barred\u200c more \u200cthan\u2064 two\u2063 dozen administrative \u200bofficials, <a\u2063 href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/07\/05\/judge-bars-biden-press-secretary-from-flagging-posts-for-big-tech-to-censor-two-years-after-admin-bragged-about-it\/\" target=\"_blank\"\u2064 rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">including<\/a>\u2064 the White\u2064 House press\u2063 secretary, from\u2063 communicating with \u200dSilicon Valley tech\u2064 giants \u2064to implement a censorship regime. \u2062While litigation is\u2063 underway,\u200b the\u200d White House may \u2064no longer flag posts \u2063for\u2064 censorship or\u200c pressure \u200bcompanies\u2062 to\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/judge-bars-biden-press-secretary-from-flagging-posts-for-big-tech-to-censor-two-years-after-admin-bragged-about-it\/\" title=\"Judge prohibits Biden press secretary from flagging posts for Big Tech censorship, despite previous administration's pride in the practice.\">suppress users\u2019 free speech<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The federal government immediately asked the federal judge in the\u2064 case \u200bto\u200d stay\u2063 the ruling and\u200c allow the\u200b administration\u2062 to keep censoring\u200b speech.\u2063 The government\u2063 also pled\u2064 for\u2063 a\u200c stay \u200cin the Fifth Circuit \u2064Court\u2062 of Appeals.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-d6468817e581fc110f9c3c6513ee79ce fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" \u2064id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-d6468817e581fc110f9c3c6513ee79ce\"><\/div>\n<p>In their\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.lawd.189520\/gov.uscourts.lawd.189520.297.1_1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">motion \u200bto stay<\/a> \u2064in \u2062the \u2062Western\u200b District Court of \u200cLouisiana, the \u200dBiden administration\u200c argued \u2062the\u200c court\u2019s prohibition \u200don \u2063federal censorship\u200d presented \u2062\u201cirreparable\u200d harm\u201d\u200c to the\u200b government and \u2063added\u2063 aggressive\u2062 regulation of \u200cthe public \u2063square is within \u200cthe \u2064\u201cpublic interest.\u201d The \u200cadministration\u2019s defense team also \u2062complained about the judge\u2019s injunction\u200b blocking\u2063 entire \u200dagencies from \u200ccooping social media platforms\u2062 to suppress American speech.
