For about\u200d six\u2063 months last \u2063year\u2062 ahead\u200d of the critical midterm\u2062 elections, the Biden\u200b administration <a \u2063href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/joe-biden-and-the-impossible-task-of-refilling-americas-oil-reserves\/\">sold<\/a> off 180 million barrels from the Strategic Petroleum \u200bReserve in an effort \u2063to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trumps-name-is-the-only-name-biden-can-remember-tomi-lahren-slams-biden-for-obsessing-over-the-former-president\/\" title=\"\u2018Trump\u2019s Name Is The Only Name Biden Can Remember\u2019: Tomi Lahren Slams Biden For Obsessing Over The Former President\">lower gas prices<\/a>, marking the fastest withdrawal\u2062 in history.<\/p>\n<p> \u200b <\/p>\n<p>Shages said the process of refilling the \u2063reserves &#8220;could take decades.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p> \u200b <\/p>\n<h3>Replenishment\u200c Efforts and Challenges<\/h3>\n<p>\u200b  \u2063<\/p>\n<p>Biden announced\u2063 an effort to replenish the supplies in \u200bDecember, but as the <em>Washington<\/em> <i>Free Beacon<\/i> \u200d<a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/joe-biden-and-the-impossible-task-of-refilling-americas-oil-reserves\/\">reported<\/a> in May, \u200bat the pace set by the\u200d Biden administration, it would <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/joe-biden-and-the-impossible-task-of-refilling-americas-oil-reserves\/\">take<\/a> 40 years \u200bto \u200breach\u200b the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/emergency-oil-reserves-drained-by-biden-could-take-decades-to-refill-experts-say\/\" title=\"Experts warn that it may take decades to replenish the emergency oil reserves depleted by Biden.\">previous oil supply levels<\/a>. \u2064The \u2064DOE <a\u2063 href=\"https:\/\/www.energy.gov\/articles\/doe-announces-6-million-barrels-strategic-petroleum-reserve-replenishment\">announced<\/a> \u2063in June\u2062 that it\u2064 purchased three million\u200c barrels and plans \u200bto buy \u2062three\u200c million \u200dmore.<\/p>\n<p>Energy\u200d Secretary \u2062Jennifer \u200bGranholm <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/joe-biden-and-the-impossible-task-of-refilling-americas-oil-reserves\/\">said<\/a>\u2064 in March \u2064the administration &#8220;will\u200c begin \u200cthat process this year, but to refill the \u2064full amount\u2062 is impossible.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Granholm\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/us-to-take-years-to-refill-its-strategic-petroleum-reserve-7371003\">admitted<\/a> that \u200dit would \u2064take \u2064years to return oil\u200c reserve levels to where\u2064 they were \u2062before\u2062 Biden\u200b entered office.\u2063 In a new interview this week \u200dwith CNN, \u2062the\u2062 secretary\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/07\/12\/business\/gas-prices-oil-emergency-reserve\/index.html\">said<\/a> it\u2062 is &#8220;definitely possible&#8221; her\u2062 agency\u2064 picks\u200d up the pace\u2062 but that \u2062it won&#8217;t be\u200c fully replenished\u2064 before \u200bthe\u2063 end of Biden&#8217;s \u2062term.<\/p>\n<h3>Concerns \u2062and Criticisms<\/h3>\n<p>  \u2064<\/p>\n<p>The \u2063reserves are intended\u2063 to prevent the\u2063 United\u200b States from running\u200d out of oil in\u2062 the\u200c case of disruptions\u200c or crises.<\/p>\n<p> \u2064 <\/p>\n<p>Among the recipients of Biden&#8217;s\u2063 selloff of the \u200boil \u200creserves was\u200d a Chinese\u200d state-controlled gas <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/national-security\/biden-sold-a-million-barrels-from-us-strategic-petroleum-reserve-to-china-owned-gas-giant\/\">company<\/a>.
